My f250 super duty truck stalls while driving, specially after turning corner. All 3 times the complete fuel injector assembly was replaced , 5/15/07, 12/15/07 & 8/15/07. Had fuel tank cleaned and found rust remains in bottom of fuel tank. The computer and wire harness had to be replaced 12/15/07. Fuel tank rusts from inside and blocks fuel line from fuel tank and water separator and consequently starves injectors from fuel which is why they burn up. . Read more...

On March 2nd,2007 my f250 diesel pickup, that was idling in the driveway caught on fire. The fire started on the driver's side of the vehicle and it melted the brake fluid reservoir and burnt up the area surrounding it. My 11 year old son noticed the blaze and shut off the truck and popped the hood and tried to shovel snow to put out the fire. I quickly opened the hood and put the fire out with the surrounding snow. I contacted Ford about a recall that they have on the gasoline pickups and they told me there were no recalls on my vehicle. I talked to a local Ford mechanic that said it sounded like the cruise control is what started the fire. He then gave me the phone number for customer service and they sent me a letter that stated there was nothing they could do. I am not sure what my next step should be, but I am out a truck and I would hate to see any one getting hurt because of an oversight by the Ford motor company.

The cam positioning sensor in the Ford power stroke 7. 3l diesel has gone out at 60,000 miles. This caused the vehicle to completely shut down. This was not the only truck this has happened to. Many people I know had this happen within the first 100,000 miles. Ford repaired the cps for $400. 00 at my expense. Also the o ring in the high pressure oil pump went out at 71,000 miles with no warning, causing me to dump all of the oil out. I discovered it before it caused motor problems. Ford fixed this problem for $500. 00. Both problems a were very common with the 7. 3l and need to be addressed by Ford. They were not ordinary problems and need some kind of attention from Ford.
This is third cam position sensor this truck has had (140000 miles on truck). Has died twice while pulling into traffic, very dangerous almost caused accident both times. This is a very wide spread problem that happens with all of these 7. 3 powerstrokes. I carry, as a lot of people do, an extra one in the glove box for the next time it happens!.
1996 F-250 caught fire in my driveway while on vacation, and after not being used for 4 days. Fire investigators determined the fires cause and origin to be the speed deactivation switch which I received a recall notice to have repaired. Notice was rec'd in late August 2006, appointment made for October 11 2006 and truck burned October 8 2006. Ford quality control states they can do the investigation thru pictures e- mailed to corp. Headquarters, then states after seeing the pictures that the truck is too badly damaged to determine fire cause and denies the claim. Please help me.

Furthest back spark plug blew while driving my 2001 Ford f250 pick-up. I only have 76100, miles on my truck the warranty just ran out the cost of repairing this is $4300. I was told that this is a factory defect and I want this problem put on the record, so that it can be investigated. I stopped driving as soon as I heard a noise and have kept my vehicle in top shape.
: the contact stated while the vehicle was idle, a fire erupted which was caused by a faulty electrical system. The fire originated from the engine compartment front underhood. There were no warning signals prior to the incident. Upon inspection, the cruise control deactivation switch and wiring for the electrical system was observed to be completely burnt to the ground. A fire report was taken# 06-017205. Also, the manufacturer was notified, but would not offer any resolution while this case was under investigation.

I had raised my hood to check the oil, and there was smoke from the cruise control shut off switch located at the end of the master cylinder. It continued to smoke and burn until I unplugged it. It was nearly on fire. The body of the switch is melted and burned. When I went to Ford dealer on 4/17/06 for a replacement part, the parts manager thought that this might be part of the recall that is in force for the f-150. The service manager checked, and it does not apply to the F-250. This is disturbing to me, because the switch is that same for either vehicle.
While driving approximately 30 mph on dry level pavement, the engine returned to idle with no power. Pulled over to a safe place and tried again after re-starting. Drove approximately â½ mile and the engine stalled. No warning lights were on and after many more attempts, the vehicle had to be towed. Dealer located and replaced burned wiring harness directly below the turbo charger.
I have a f250 Ford super duty 7. 3l diesel, year 200 101,000 miles. While my wife was taking the kids to school a fire started under the hood with the cruise deactivation switch. This is in a recall for f150 and vans but not my f250 diesel. This fire was flaming under the hood when my wife pulled into a gas station. According to zford there are no recalls for the f250 with the same part.
We were notified by police and fire department officials that there was a fire in our yard. Our Ford 250 was on fire and had not been driven for around 4 hours. Upon investigation the fire marshall indicated the location of where the fire began and presumed it was the brake pressure switch based on its location. The car has been totaled and caught another vehicle on fire next to it.
There was a fire under the hood . The hood latch would not work . The fire dept extinguished the fire.

While the vehicle was parked, a fire started under the hood. The vehicle was totaled. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
Fire in Ford F-250 pick-up truck. Parked in garage for about 2 hours. Owner saw initial fire in engine compartment on driver's side. Remains of cruise control deactivation switch were found and x-rayed; internal contacts were splattered from electrical arcing. Fuse #13 was a 20 amp device and was the only one blown. According to Ford wiring diagrams, that circuit fed the cds. The owner reported that the cruise control quit working last summer. The dealership told him it needed a new cc module and would cost $150. 00. Owner elected not to spend the money at that time.
Ten minutes after parking the vehicle it caught on fire. The fire department was contacted to extinguish the fire. The fire seeme to have started under the hood on the driver's side.
Vehicle was parked for the night (ignition was off). Vehicle burned due to fire from under the hood caused by electrical failure. Total loss (repairs to exceed value). Vehicle is still in my possession. I was recently made aware of a Ford recall for cruise control components causing underhood fires of similar nature and consequence on similar vehicles.

My cps failed while driving and the engine stalled leaving me with limited steering and braking. The truck is a Ford F-250 with the 7. 3 powerstroke diesel. The part was replaced under warranty but I had to pay a $100 deductible.
After leaving vehicle parked overnight, next day vehicle caught on fire even before consumer got close to vehicle. Please provide more information.
Vehicle destroyed by fire originating under hood. Exact cause unknown due to extent of heat/damage upon discovery of event. Fire burned through the firewall into the passenger compartment. Vehicle had been parked apx 2 hours with ignition switch off and key out of ignition. Vehicle had had a 5,000 mile service with the next service due at 10,000 miles.
Truck was totaled and inside compartment totally destroyed - very hot fire.
Stopped at a traffic light and when light turned green, pressed gas pedal but truck would not move. Waited a few minutes and pressed pedal and truck went. Driving down highway, truck started coasting - engine was running but pressing the gas pedal gave no power. Finally got the truck to Ford service. Left the truck running and in park - the truck jumped into reverse. The truck lost power again while the Ford tech was test driving. They replaced the electronic gas pedal and the transmission. They took the truck on a test drive and noticed the rear end was grinding. They determined the carrier bearings had come apart. They have ordered a new rear end. The windshield washer fluid would not spray - they repaired some wiring to correct that problem. Ea04006 has ifs.
Consumer heard loud noise coming from underneath hood/parked vehicle, extended cab was completely burnt, state farm insurance analysis was it was an electrical fire.
