Result was a total loss of the truck and the fifth wheel trailer that was being towed. A fuel filter had been changed two weeks prior to the fire and suspicion is that the fuel line was not properly reattached. The origin of the fire was in the area of the upper fuel filter which helps confirm this suspicion. Proper removal and reinstallation of the fuel lines in this vehicle are key safety items. 20 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/29/2011

Was driving to work on a major highway when all of a sudden the truck stalled and quite running. After having the vehicle towed into a Ford dealership they determined that 2 fuel injectors along with the fuel pressure regulator were bad. After further research they determined it was caused by corrison in the fuel tank. They said Ford would not stand behind the problem as they blamed it on the diesel fuel. We buy the same diesel fuel that other trucks use and they do not seem to have this problem. It is bought at reputable gas stations. Fortunately we were able to get the truck off the road this time and not cause any accidents. This should be a recall issue backed by Ford motor company instead of a money maker for them. After researching the internet this is a very common problem and needs to be addressed and make Ford responsible for the problem before someone gets hurt.

29 Car Stall problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/15/2008

I recently experienced severe surging at idle, making the vehicle jump forward, rough acceleration, and complete stalling at various speeds. Took vehicle to dealer for repair. They replaced the icp sensor, and the icp wiring harness (which was burnt and shorting out), and cleaned injectors = $1348. 00 this is the same issue that Ford recall no. 05s34 addresses on the same truck, same engine (6. 0), but one year newer. Ford did not return old parts to me and I failed to ask for them. I am convinced that the shorting out of the icp harness, like the problem in #05s34, caused the sensor to fail.

30 Car Stall problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

31 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/23/2007

My husband and I bought a new f350 Ford lariat truck in the fall of 2002 for $42,000. We still had it in the summer of 2007 when it suddenly stopped dead in the middle of the highway, stalled on a remote stretch of road. My husband was alone at the time, and he was about 8 miles from any house or store, so he walked for help at 8:30 pm. He was able to get a tow truck to pick him up, bring him home at 1 am, and deliver the truck to the nearest Ford dealer. The cost of the tow was over $300. 00. The next day he was unable to get to work due to no vehicle. We contacted the dealer and it took them the entire day to contact us back. They had no diagnosis, but suspected it had to do with a lockout device which would require the valve covers be removed and around $700. 00 in service costs. They did charge us a diagnostic fee which was around $80. 00 - $90. 00. I had looked on the internet and kept finding references to a camshaft positioning sensor with the same symptom of sudden stalling. I asked the service technician if that could be the problem and he said it was very unlikely; in fact I think he claimed he was unaware of a cps issue at all. The truck was running so we picked it up from the dealership, and it stalled again on our way home. So we had the truck towed to another dealer, a distance of 80 miles and a cost of another $150. 00. I discussed replacing the cps with the service technician there and he said it was relatively inexpensive and a good first attempt to isolate the problem. So we had it replaced and have never had a problem since. This truck had 40,000 miles on it and it was our fourth Ford truck. I wonder why it took so long for Ford to get around to notifying their customers and their service staff. It is inconceivable that Ford would take this long to actually acknowledge a problem they have had for years when their customers were essentially unaware of the potential for disaster.

32 Car Stall problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/13/2007

I parked my truck, turned off the ignition and removed the key at 7:00am. At 8:03 am I heard what sounded like an explosion. I ran to the front of the house and my 2001 Ford f350 was on fire! the entire engine area was engulfed in flames. Using two garden hoses until the fire department arrived, I was able to contain the majority of the damage to the engine area. There weren't any prior issues to signify that there was something wrong with the engine. I routinely brought my vehicle in for it's scheduled maintenance. I never received a recall notice about the defective cruise control switch that was installed in a group of Ford trucks, of which my truck was part of.
