I purchased a new 2004 Ford F-350 in October 2004. Since that time, I have had the vehicle serviced 8 times prior to 6/2006 for the same problem. The vehicle has not been driven since that time as it continuously stalls without warning and needs to be fixed again. The vehicle dies for no apparent reason and without warning and the dealer has not been able to correct the problem. This vehicle is unsafe and Ford refuses to buy back this vehicle as they should.

39 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was merged to the shoulder and towed to the dealer. The dealer inspected and replaced the cam shaft position sensor. The initial failure occurred in 2006 and would recur every two years, and every two years since then the vehicle would stall and the cam shaft position failure had to be replaced. The cam shaft position was replaced five times but the failure was a constant recurrence. The manufacturer was notified of the issue, who offered no assistance to the contact. The failure mileage was 49,000 and the current mileage was 140,000.

40 Car Stall problem of the 2004 Ford F-350

The contact owns a 2004 Ford f350. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The dealer replaced the injector control wiring module and the owner was responsible for paying $2200. After the repair, the vehicle miss fired, black smoke was in the engine area and their was troddle resistance. The dealer confirmed that there were no existing recalls and the contact would be responsible for the cost of repairs a second time. The failure mileage was 217,000.

Steering stabilizer was installed because it wasn't installed at factory.

When pulling off from an intersection, the vehicle stalled. Moments later, the consumer restarted the vehicle all power resumed as normal. While driving between 55-60 mph motor vibrated, followed by a loud bang. Consumer pulled off the road, and had vehicle towed to the dealership. The two piece flywheel came apart, which caused the transmission housing to crack where the transfer case (4-wheel drive was located. Dealership indicated that this was a common failure with this year trucks, and the two piece fly wheels were not installed in later model trucks. Transmission housing and the flywheel were replaced.

Acceleration was happening all the time when the consumer was at a stop light. This was happening for a year. The consumer has not had the truck checked nor inspected in the year that he was having these problems. The consumer contacted the dealer and the consumer said that he would take the truck sometime next week for checkup. The consumer has not contacted Ford. The vehicle was stalling at low speeds 0-20 mph.

This leaves vehicle without power steering or power brakes. This has happened for the last 1500 miles or so. Replaced the cmp sensor twice and no trouble codes exists in computer.
