2 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/23/2011

I have a 2005 f350 4x4 drw 6. 0 diesel with 70,000 miles, the truck was started one morning and white smoke started coming from the exhaust and the truck had no power, there was no warning and the dealer says its the egr cooler and recommends that the head gaskets get done also for a total of $4800. 00. I have researched this problem and the International built motor has this problem alot but I have not seen any recall on this why??? for the cost of this type of truck it should last longer than 70,000 miles and if I would have been driving this vehicle what would of happened??? also per the dealer Ford knows this problem exist but yet nothing has been done to protect the consumer.

3 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/16/2011

I bought a 2008 super duty with the 6. 4 l diesel engine in it. I noticed that the radiator was leaking on the bottom driver side. I decided to do some research on the internet to see if it were a common problem , to my suprise it was. Everyone that has a super duty truck with the 6. 4 l complaint about the same problem , radiator leaking on the bottom driver side. Some of the owners recorded that it was their 3 rd radiator in their truck. I did some research on carfax and noticed that atleast 7 trucks out of 20 that were for sale in the memphis area had their radiators replaced and some trucks more than 3 times. I went to the dealer and they look at my radiator and told me that they would replace it under warranty. They also looked and made sure that my truck had the venturi kit installed on it, that Ford had a recall on the cooling system back in 08 , it was installed. After they removed my radiator the service man told me that if my thermostats were not at fault that I had to pay for the radiator. My thermostats he said were fine so I was responsible to pay for a new radiator. I strongly believe Ford should be hold accountable for these cooling systems that is failling . To me they are only patching a problem and hope it will last till the warranty is over and then it is the owners problem . To many owners out there has the same problem for me to except responsibility for what is cleary a bad defect on the cooling system. My truck has only 64 000 miles on it, and I dont even tow anything.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-350 super duty. The contact stated that the cam shaft sensor was replaced in August 2009 under recall campaign number 07v553000, which was for engine and engine cooling. The cam shaft sensor that was replaced in August of 2009 was not replaced because it failed; it was replaced because the dealer stated that the contact had to get the new cam shaft sensor. The contact had the original cam shaft sensor replaced September 2005 and was not having any problems. The new cam shaft sensor has failed in just over a year and less than 4000 miles. The manufacturer stated that the cam shaft has a 12 month 12000 mile warranty. The failure mileage was 184329 and the current mileage was 188600.

6 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/28/2010

The public really needs to be educated regarding the fact that Ford motor company is covering up one of the largest problems in their automobile history regarding their hundreds of thousands of failed 2003 thru 2007 super duty 6. 0 diesel pickups. If you could be so kind please help me and hundreds of thousands of other owners of these failed vehicles. Please forward this email to your supervisors. I am currently re-pursuing legal action along with media coverage to expose this terrible situation with these Ford vehicles that is ruining family finances while trying to keep these vehicles constantly repaired. Many owners including myself our being forced to build much less than safe lifts to remove the cabs from these trucks to repair the constantly failing engine components. I tried to include these digital pictures clearly indicating the deadly cab lifts we our forced to try and build because of the dealer costs. Please indicate how I can upload these pictures for you review. For 47 years I thought Ford stood for first on race day. Wow, was I completely wrong! in the past 9 months I have spent over $15,000 out of my pocket and bank loans just trying to keep my Ford vehicle repaired due to their horrible engineering abilities. My warranty was 28 days out of warranty and 80,000 miles under in warranty. They refused to help me in any way, shape or form. I represented myself in two court cases against them and lost. When, not if, I can afford an attorney, Ford will finally be exposed to their cover ups from the public! Ford: fix or repair daily!!.

10 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/03/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-350. While driving 55 mph, the engine temperature began to rise and the engine power decreased. Several months prior to the failure, the vehicle displayed the same symptoms and was serviced by the dealer. The cause of the failure has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 70,000.

11 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/15/2009

2006 Ford f350 6. 0l diesel pickup coolant heater return line not properly attached to firewall leading to coolant leakage and/or exhaust gas leakage. The cab heater coolant return line was supposed to be bolted in two places to the firewall to properly hold the coolant line in place. On my truck the two nuts that attach the line to the firewall were never installed at the factory - as evidenced by the factory paint never been scratched on the studs on the firewall. Without proper attaching of the line to the firewall the line then rests on top of the turbo exhaust pipe eventually wearing through one or both of the coolant line and exhaust pipe. My coolant line ruptured at 30,000 miles.

12 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/04/2009

I smelled hint of raw fuel when the engine was warm for 1-2 months prior to the obvious problem. 3-4 weeks prior to professional inspection there was white smoke out of the exhaust for 1-2 minutes. This smoke was associated with rough idling that when away completely until the next cold start up. The precipitating event for professional inspection was raw fuel spraying onto the trailer that was being pulled. Inspection revealed raw fuel pooled on the horizontal engine surfaces and raw fuel in the cooling system. This was verified by manufacturer's dealer service department and found to be a leaking fuel injector cup. It will require changing all the fuel injector cups. The dealer service agent reported that this same problem has been several times in these particular models. It is usually a warranty item. This has not been repaired yet as this vehicle's warranty has expired by time limit but not mileage. The manufacturer has denied any obligation to help restore the vehicle to safe operation given that it seems to run unimpaired from a performance standpoint.

Radiator leak.

14 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2004 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

While traveling 60 mph, the vehicle lost power but did not stall. Before turbo went out the vehicle had fire sparks coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the turbo was replaced. This occurred at least three more times and the dealership reattached the hose from the turbo to the engine. As of 02/13/06 the turbo hose to intake manifold continues to blow off causing loss of power and large amount of smoke emitted from exhaust pipe. Massive oil leak from engine and continued large amount of smoke from exhaust when pulling load.

15 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 10/02/2005

The contact stated a spark plug ejected from her husband's vehicle. The spark plug caused damage to the engine and blew the cylinder head. The service dealer confirmed it. The dealer replaced the cylinder head. The replacement corrected the problem. The contact said this was the same problem as experienced in the investigation for the engine and engine cooling, NHTSA action number dp05005.

16 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/27/2003

My 2003 F-350 super duty 5. 4, with 3,500 miles has an engine knock on cold start-up. The dealer had the truck for a week, and said this is normal. I took an oil sample, and had it tested, and was told the sample had to come from a high mileage motor, the sample shows traces of bearing material. The dealer says this is normal for "break-in" oil. I think there is more wrong, and don't want to ruin it. This is a $30,000 truck, and I can't see tearing it up.
