Contacted the dealership, and they said they were not responsible for the tires. Had not contacted manufacturer yet. I have not had any accidents only property damage. When the tread separated from the tires it dented both ofrear fenders, busted tail lights, and put a hole in fuel tank. M manufacturer recommends 65 psi. Check tire pressure and rotated the tires. Vehicle has only 15000 miles onit, and I noticed . Vibration on one of the tires before the blow out occurred. The blow outs occurred on two separate occasions. I have had two general - ameritec tires lose the treads and blow out in the last month. One had 39500 the other had 40000. I have a truck (f-350) with dual wheels, both were in back. The tires came with the truck and were not overly worn.

43 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/26/2005

The tread separated from the right rear tire on my 2001 Ford 350 truck. As it left, it did considerable damage to the right side of the vehicle. I replaced the tire, sent the damaged one to firestone, who have denied responsibility, and are sending it back-(c. O. D. ) the tires were original, with plenty of legal tread left.

44 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/26/2005

Pulling a fifth wheel trailer on I 75 about 50 miles north of tampa florida. 95 degrees and speed at 65 mph, I had a blowout. I was able to control my truck and get to the side of the interstate. About $5000 in damages was done to my truck. I filed a complaint with general tire and sent the old tire to them for inspection (only 32000 miles on tire lt235/85r16). They claim the tire was damaged before blowout and would not be responsible for damages. I contacted my insurance company (nationwide) they have several cases of blowouts of this same tire. I believe someone other than general tire should inspect these blown tires.

45 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/10/2005

While driving my F-350 on I-95, there was a sudden explosion and caused the truck to swerve violently and as I slowed to veer into the emergency lane a loud hammering sound came from under truck. After stopping and checking I found the right inner dually wheel had come apart and over half the tread was missing from the tire. The tread separation ripped the plastic wheel well housing out and ripped two 6" and 8" tears in the bed of the truck. The fiberglass wheel well had large cracks and the supports were torn loose. Some electrical wiring was also torn loose and in the bed of truck, behind the well, the metal was bent upward about 4" in a sq. Ft. Area. The tail pipe chrome end piece was knocked off and the tail pipe was smashed flat. I replaced the tire with the spare. Two weeks later the same thing happened on the opposite side with slightly less damage. The truck has only 18,000 miles on odometer.

46 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/05/2005

I noticed a pull to the left on my 2001 Ford f350 with firestone steeltex radial tires lt 265 75r 16 thinking it was air presure related the day before the incident I checked the presure in all tires and all had required presure, so I thought there may be an alignment issue. The next day the left front tire failed without notice while traveling 70mph down the turnpike causing signifiant dammage to my vehicle an almost a catastrophic crash. Upon installing the spare the pull to the left disappeared, thus no aligment issue the tire must have been on it's way to failure causing the pull to the left. The tread seaprated from the tire completly, but the tire sill held presure.

47 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/22/2005

Driving on I-10 west about 65 mph when the rubber pealed off the right rear tire causing $3400. 00 damage to F-350 Ford quarter panel, bed, tail light, end gate and bumper.

48 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 1997 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/20/2005

Firestone steeltex failure on a 1997 Ford f350. On June 20, 2005, the left front oem firestone steeltex tire failed at spped on I-95s between avberdeen and churchville maryland. Since the truck is driven very little, all tires have 40,000 miles on them and have substantial tread remaining. Also, I meticoulsly maintain presures. Without warning and at about 65mph, the tread seperated from the tire carcass causing vehcile to be difficult to control. Nonetheless, I was able to pull off-road without incident. Tire clearly shows that the tread seperated from the body of the tire causing instant pressure loss and sidewall failure. Just another example why problems with these tires are not limited to suvs or the limited batches that were recalled.

49 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/04/2005

Left for trip from phoenix to texas. Stop to fuel for the trip. Check tire air pressure and fueld up. Drove to texas. Left for phoenix and stopped for fuel and checked tire pressure. Around 11pm just outside tucson I heard a loud thump and my front end started shaking violantly. I was travelling 75mph and released my foot off the gas and hung on the strearing wheel. I slowed to a stop and pulled of the interstate. Got out and inspected the right front tire of my f350 dually and found the tread had sperated from the tire. Due to saftey reasons, I deciede to limp to the nearest station about a mile away. The tire still had some pressure in it. I change the tire, inspected the damage, and decided to continue the 150 miles home at a much slower pace.

50 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/23/2005

While driving at a reduced speed on the interstate freeway, because of rain, I started to experience a vibration from the tires. At the first opportunity I pulled off into a rest area to check the tire pressure thinking that I had a tire that was going flat. I measured the air pressure in all 4 tires on my 2000 Ford F-350. I measured 60lbs in the front and 70lbs in the rear. I inspected the wheels to see if there was any apparent problem with the tire but I couldn?t find anything. I deduced that the vibration might be a result of the tire throwing a balancing weight and I decided to continue on my journey since I couldn?t find any problem. About 8 miles further up the road I suffered a treat separation from the tire which came actually came off the tire. The tire did not lose air immediately as a result of the failure (it did have a slow leak that drained the tire after about 6 hours). I was able to maintain control of the vehicle through the entire incident and could safely drive it until I could find a safe place â½ mile further up the road where I replaced the damaged tire. The resulting incident damaged the fender area of my vehicle and will require professional repair. As I mentioned earlier I was driving at a reduced speed for this section of the interstate freeway because of heavy rain and at no time did my speed exceed 60mph. The air temperature from the time I first noticed the problem until the failure was 43 to 38 degrees.
