1 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 09/08/2019

My vehicle keep leaking brake fluid. Then slowly but surely, I wasn't able to shift into 3rd gear. The car would "shudder" in neutral and started running loud. Finally, I think because of the brake fluid leak despite me continuously adding fluid, the car wouldn't shift into gear. I had asked around and was told my gearbox needed to be oiled and have the oil changed, gear shift needed repair or the input or output for the front end needed repairing.

2 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 03/19/2016

About 3 months after buying this used Fiesta, castro in milsboro, DE found a leak under the motor. Since I wasn't loosing oil the Ford dealersip didn't think it was a major issue. In August of 2015 reverse slipped out 5 times in 4 weeks. Ford dealer in lewes, DE finally looked into problem and found the transmission seal had blown causing fluid to get onto clutches and throw-out bearing. Two weeks later it was finally fixed. Now I'm having issues with hard shfting, and stalling between gears. The dealership in georgetown, DE checked and stated the transmission was "within Ford peramiters". Ford customer support stated "if the problem escalates to please call us back" so the car still is shifting badly at this powing.

Failure Date: 09/29/2015

Vehicle shakes and shudders on acceleration. It has loud noise and decreased speed while on ramps or inclines. The check engine light came on a lot and would overheat while I was on the freeway. There was also a fluid leak under the vehicle.

4 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/24/2014

I own a 2011 Ford Fiesta. The car has left me stranded on the side of the road 4 times. 3 out of the 4 times I broke down I was right in the middle of rush hour traffic in new orleans! not good! I could have been killed, or killed someone else. Twice I've had to wait on the side of the interstate for 2. 5 hours waiting for a tow truck when I was supposed to pick up my 11 year old from camp. I've missed work, my son has been stranded, and I just do not feel safe in this car. It's been in the shop 4 times now and they've worked on it 3 times. The first time it broke down I brought it to Ford and they kept it for one day but they didn't get to work on it because I was having problems with my extended warranted, which is through Nissan. The 2nd time I was told the clutch went out in the dual transmission due to transmission fluid leaking on a component in the car. They took my transmission out, replaced the clutch, accidentally busted out my windshield in the process, then gave the car back. Not too long after I got it back, it broke down again. They said it was the computer that operates the transmission. They did updates on the computer and gave it back to me. The very next day it broke down again and is now sitting back at Ford in slidell. At this point I don't even think they know what to do with it. I then file a complaint with Ford and they say there's nothing they can do? so I'm just stuck with this broken car from Ford that is only a few years old? my son was with me one of the times that I broke down - the poor thing was scared half to death! I can't keep missing work - what am I supposed to do? all I see online is people with lawsuits against Ford because of the transmission in these things. . . Why isn't this a recall yet? it is definitely dangerous!.

6 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 01/18/2014

Six months ago I had been to the dealers for a failed door latch on my rear passenger door and lightning struck again. I was beginning to feel like a pro. Went to the store and loaded the front seat this time with groceries and went to close it and it just bounced back. In a way I was grateful because I knew what was wrong but at the same time I was like are you kidding? I was in a location where I could retrieve a bungee cord from my place of business and luckily it was a Saturday and Ford was still open so I took it in and they could lock it up until Monday. They overnighted a part from another dealer and were able to install it late Tuesday night but as it so happened putting the latch and door back together, the right side window handle regulator broke and they hand to replace it. I ended up getting my car back on Thursday. So in a matter of six months I had two broken door latches on two different doors. I was grateful to be close to a Ford dealer but it concerns me for those who are not and those who might be traveling far distances and this happens. It concerned me that it all the warranties that my new car has and still has that this incident was not considered a safety concern that they would have paid for a rental car. Only reason they paid for it was because I called and raised a kerfuffle and pointed out the security and safety concerns and it actually had to be assigned a whole case number. Even after all of this I receive a notice in the mail about a warranty extension on mypower shift 6speed automatic transmission for excessive transmission clutch shudder caused by fluid contamination of the clutch due to leaking transmission seals. After all of this I will never buy a Ford again!!.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate. The accelerator pedal vibrated as the contact applied force to the pedal and the speed decreased while driving up a hill. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact observed transmission fluid leaking from the front of the transmission. The vehicle was restarted and the failure recurred. The failure continued to occur on a consistent basis. The manufacturer was notified and did not provide a remedy. There were no diagnostic tests performed nor was the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.

8 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

Vehicle has the all too common "leaky seals" at the clutches on the tranny. Had contacted Ford prior-was told that the shuddering and rough shift was normal. Little did I know it was failing. The seals have failed, caused oil/fluid to get onto the clutches. Ford pulled tranny apart, twice, put back together and car shutters so bad they refuse to return it to me. Claim "too unsafe to return to you". Ford then instructed dealer to "order new replacement parts (3rd time) and replace-the replacement parts used must have been defective. " before parts arrived, Ford cancelled order. Informed me "there is no repair available for this issue. There is Fiesta and focus's held up at dealerships all over the country. We can put you in a rental for 6 to 8 weeks and hopefully in that time Ford will figure out a way to fix this issue. " I asked Ford why they don't replace the transmission with a new one, was told "no, the new ones have the same defect and they too will fail as well. Ford has had my car since mid October 2013. . . . . Currently no fix avail. . . . . . Lemon law vehicle!.

9 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

When I took my car in for an oil change they said my oil was leaking so I took it into a Ford dealership. The dealership put some dye in my engine fluid and told me to bring it back after I drove another 500 miles. When I brought it back in they said my transmission had a leak. While driving it for the past few months I've also noticed it sputtering when I accelerate. This has seemed to worsen since taking it in as well. My car is constantly stalling when I make left turns or start going after being stopped or slowing down. I am very concerned and scared that while I am driving with my 3 year old in the backseat it will stall just a little too long and cause an accident harming him. There have been some close calls already and I am not happy to discover many people are having this problem with the 2013 Ford Fiestas. This car is not safe for anyone to drive.

10 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

Within a few weeks of purchase, the shuddering from a stopped start increased in magnitude (I understand the transmission is supposed to act like a manual but this was too severe) and on occasion after shifting from reverse to drive there was no engagement in the transmission, stepping on accelerator only revved the engine, no movement. Took the car back in, they state that is normal operation, the computer has to get used to your driving. Here we are one year later, it is no better and now has a transmission leak. Took back in for that and the service guy says, OH yeah we are booked way out to Aug 17 (it was July 24th) on fixes for that and he mentioned it is a known issue. Seems it has been known since 2011 yet the sales guys never mentioned it. Evidently mine is severe enough that they got me scheduled for Aug 7. They said that the transmission fluid may have gotten into the dry clutch and all would likely have to be replaced. It is great that they can continue to sell these knowing full well there are problems.

11 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

When I take off from a stop, using light or hard acceleration, the automatic transmission exhibits an intermittent transmission violent shudder, which shakes the car and causes hesitation on acceleration, creating a safety hazard. This has caused me several near misses trying to cross traffic because the transmission hesitation and shutter, causes delay in acceleration across on coming traffic. Because of this, I do not let my teenagers drive the car. The car has now developed leaking transmission fluid. 2013 Fiesta. I have taken the car to the dealer several times, they say its normal, simply reprogram the transmission, and hand me a paper from Ford which says the phenomena is normal. Ive never herd of an automatic transmission that shifted so poorly and violently as normal. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

12 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/10/2012

After purchasing in December of '12, the first problem arose after only 15 000 miles. The car was making a s noise from the transmission. I had to take it to the dealer twice, first time they didn't want to even acknowledge the problem. Then at 30000 I noticed fluid leaking from the vehicle. Turns out it is the oil leaking into the bell-housing, causing the car jerking, stalling on hills and freeways-very unsafe to drive it. Sometimes it takes up to 4 seconds after pressing the gas pedal for cat to react(very dangerous when merge on freeway or changing lanes) and the dealer won't be able to get me in until next December because there is no necessary parts. And stated "well it should be fine until then. " I've heard that one person already won the lemon law case against Ford regarding this vehicle. Online forums and reviews are full of complaints on Ford Fiesta 2012 transmission.
