Vehicle engine stalls when in traffic. When I decelerate and engage the clutch (manual transmission), sometimes the engine speed will go so low, the engine stalls. It usually happens in very heavy traffic and I have to engage the clutch. This always happens when the vehicle is in motion. This happens pretty much anywhere, street, highway, freeway, drive way. It only happens when the clutch is engaged. If the car is in gear and the clutch is not engaged, it wont stall. I did take it to hemborg Ford in norco, CA and they reflashed the computer, but it still is happening. Yesterday 12 Aug, I was entering a roadway and a vehicle jumped in front of me. I applied both the brakes and clutch and when I tried to accelerate, the engine was stalled creating a very dangerous situation as I was already committed to entering the roadway and vehicles were approaching me from behind at a very high rate of speed.

The automatic transmission fails to engage when shifted into any gear. The engine revs but the transmission doesn't go into gear and the car will no move. Sometimes the shifter will not come out of "park". Sometimes the car will not start. Turning the key from "off" to "on" may, or may not, allow the car to start and the go into gear. This can happened after backing out of a parking spot, and then shifting into "d" (drive). It has also happened when stopped at a traffic light, and then the car will not move.

The transmission in this car does not engage properly at times causing it to not accelerate as expected. This sometimes feels like there isn't enough power available to accelerate and other times it shudders and shakes until it shifts from first gear to second. We submitted the car for the transmission computer reprogramming TSB when it became available. It seemed to improve its operation. Our son drives this car to commute to college and it worries us terribly. I know two other people that own cars with the same transmission and ours is not as bad, but still unpredictable and dangerous when driving in dense traffic. The vehicle has approximately 105,000 carefully maintained miles. At 100,500 miles the transmission got worse. Ford was called and they refused to consider repairing it under the extended warranty offered on this transmission (7 years/100,000 miles) because it was just outside of the permitted mileage. From what we have read, it doesn't sound like the repair is worth doing since the problems quickly return. We can't sell the car in this condition without taking a major loss. It's a bad situation.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the transmission failed to properly engage when shifting gears and upon applying the accelerator pedal. The previous owner indicated that the transmission failure was intermittent and worsened once the contact obtained ownership. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who stated that further diagnostic testing was needed. Two dealers were contacted: casa Ford (5815 montana Ave, el paso, TX 79925, (915) 779-2272) and camelback Ford (1330 e camelback rd, phoenix, az 85014, (602) 635-7551), but the failure could not be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to lose power, the transmission failed to engage, and the vehicle would accelerate suddenly. The vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive and remained parked several times due to the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.

Transmission does not engage or disengage when it's supposed to. Slow to start from a complete stop; hard to accelerate for passing; late to stop because downshifting is late.
This vehicle is unsafe and should be recalled. Dual transmission cluch is a serious problem disengaging while driving slow or fast and shutters at all speeds. Its electronic throttle body (ecb) is defective just like 1. 6 million 2009-2014 Ford escape and fusion and Mercury mariner and milan vehicles that Ford started a "customer satisfaction program" in lieu of a recall. Of course the ecb is not under warranty (3,000 over) and Ford did not identify the Fiesta as one of the customer satisfaction program cars. $545 plus labor for a car that is 3 years old. No more Ford products for home or work for this cfo.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fiesta. While driving in a parking lot and attempting to shift gears, the gear failed to engage and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the clutch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000.
Problem is the transmission failed to engage when I pressed on the gas petal to go, it took almost a full second after pressing the accelerator, I would estimate, before the transmission would engage into 1st gear. I have had it happen before to a lesser extent, all randomly, so I never know when it will or won't go when I press on the gas petal. Very dangerous if you need to cross traffic and the car just sits there then decides to shoot you out into oncoming traffic. I also had problems with shuddering at low speeds, and hard shifting from 4th to 5th gear.
I have been taking off after stopping and the transmission or fuel injection misses causing the vehicle to not engage the drive train just right. The vehicle hesitates, lurches, and shutters. The vibration is bad and I'm worried if I take off from a stop light or sign, the vehicle does not engage the drive train, I might be hit by another vehicle because I cannot get the vehicle out of the path of traffic due to the hesitation. This is a very serious safety issue and something must be done to correct the problem.
Driving on the interstate and my car would not accelerate . The clutch which is a auto shift clutch would not disengage had to pull over between on ramp and flowing traffic. Restarted car a couple of times and finna lol worked ok. I called my dealership service dept. And they said to take it to nearest Ford service dept. . Codes were shift fork position circuit p2832 p2877clutch b disengaging slow and shift forka position circuit range/performance permanent. This could be a dangerous issue I'm glad was driving and not my daughter.

Upon accelerating at a light, the transmission disengaged and the motor would no long propel the car forward. The car was in drive and the motor was running, but no power was being distributed to the automatic transmission to engage the wheels. I was left coasting in the middle of a six lane road during rush hour and could not move as the car coasted to a halt. I put the car in park and then the car was stuck in park and the shift lever would not move out of park. I then turned off the car to see if restarting it would do anything, but then the car would not start at all. Now I was in the middle lane, during rush hour, with a car that won't start, and won't come out of park. Because of this I could not even roll the car to a place of safety on the shoulder of the road. I was in the middle lane for one hour narrowly escaping crashing many times until the tow truck finally showed up. The tow truck driver also could not get the car out of park and had to drag it up the tow ramp as the front wheels would not roll.
Going up a steep hill in morning rush hour bumper to bumper. My car stall, stopped and the automatic transmission would not engage. This caused me to graze the bumper of the car next to me and put a few very small scratches on the rear left side of the car. No accident report needed. The damage was so minor it was only visible at a close look. Polish seem to cover it. My car would not start moving until cars a head of me gave me enough safe space to push hard on the accelerator and get the automatic transmission to kick in. This could have caused an accident. Not life threatening but someone could have seriously been hurt.
All three occurrences requiring my car to be taken to a shop for repairs involved the vehicle moving at hi-way speeds. While travelling at 65mph, the cruise control cut out and engine died, so I had to coast to the side of the road. Eventually it restarted and I got home. The issue was electronic in nature according to the dealership where I bought the car, and took it for service. The part was not immediately available and when asked, the dealership said it was safe to drive until the part came in. The repair was made under warranty. The second problem was very similar to the first occurrence, and the dealership told me it was a different problem, but was nonetheless electronic in nature. The repair was made under warranty. The third and most recent issue involves the transmission. On my daily commute, cruise set at 65mph, the transmission disengaged. There was no power to the drivetrain. When I coasted to the shoulder, no gear could be achieved. When shut off, the car would not restart. After about ten minutes, after many clunking and clicking noises had occurred under the hood, the car started and I continued. It happened again. . . And again. This occurred five times in 30 miles, and finally the car would not restart. This was about five miles from home and my car had to be towed to the dealer for repair. The car is two years old with 85,000 miles. All miles are hi-way miles. All routine maintenance has been performed with receipts. This vehicle is a safety hazard, for intermittent, total loss of power and control on the hi-way, as well as leaving the occupants stranded at risk, on the shoulder of said hi-way. Ford does not seem to want to acknowledge publically that this is a safety problem (I. E. Recall).
Unusual clunking noises when starting in the cold. Sounds like a dead-battery start, but louder. Can start car, but not without this odd noise. Yesterday, after starting car, it refused to engage in any gear--either reverse or drive. Turned car off, re-started and was then able to find a gear. Also, first and second gears are not engaging properly; there is a clunk when slowing down and it is herky-jerky. It is in for service now as I type, but the courtesy van driver told me they have had 2 Fiesta's in already with this problem and he wouldn't be surprised if there were a recall. Gulp.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the clutch would not engaged properly and caused the vehicle to stall while driving 15 mph. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer to have the clutch replaced but the repair did not remedy the issue. The failure mileage was 72,500.
