2 Clutch Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

I bought my car in December of 2014, certified preowned. After having the car for not even a full month, I received a call that I had a clutch that came in to their service department. I had not ordered one, nor did I know the car needed one at time of purchase. Since then I have been through 3 clutches and the fourth was just ordered Monday June 12, 2017. Every 15,000 miles the car begins to shudder and experience shifting hesitation. This is extremely unnerving, especially when it only does it when taking off from a stop or when accelerating after slowing down foe say a red light that just turned green. It doesn't make me feel safe, I've had multiple instances where this has caused near collisions when pulling out into traffic because the car essentially stalls out and I stop moving. Ford has not issued a recall for this and this is my third year experiencing these problems. I don't want to pay for something that is the manufacturers responsibility. I got a recall for something trivial, door latched, but not thw huge safety problem that is my clutch failing. The dealer also stated on a 07/16/16 invoice that this is a recall item, but I'm still paying for it. I have all prior invoices of all clutch work done.

I was in heavy stop and go traffic. Every time I would start to go the car would shudder, buck and stumble. It actually stalled in traffic. I continued to stumble, shudder and buck shifting gears until I got to free flowing traffic. I had been to dealer several times prior to reprogram the transmission but it never fixed the problem. The car got so bad in October 2014 that Ford authorized the dealer to replace the dual clutch unit to the transmission. That temporarily cured the problem. The car has since started to shift rough, shudder and stumble in slow traffic. The dealer is documenting the dual clutch unit is failing again. 11 Clutch Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2013

We purchased a 2013 Ford Focus with the dct. By 1200 miles, the transmission was grinding and stuttering to the point of almost stalling during acceleration. Ford performed a repair after finding the clutches burned up and bearing failure. This fix lasted for awhile before the problem returned. During this period we had difficulty getting Ford dealerships to acknowledge the issue. On multiple occasions, with my baby daughter in the back seat, the car would surge, hesitate, nearly stall, and otherwise pose dangerous driving situations. Eventually Ford performed a second repair finding clutch failure again and then when that repair lasted less than 500 miles replaced the entire transmission. But now, even with the new transmission, the problems have returned. Ford customer service insists that nearly stalling and obnoxious stuttering is normal and possibly the result of multiple drivers confusing the computer. Were now at 14000 miles and problem remains.
