I have been an owner of a Ford vehicle for 3 generations. My 2013 Ford Focus has only 95k miles and has had serious transmission problems. The vehicle has been well taken care of and has been serviced at the dealership several times for regular service maintenance. All recalls have been taken care of. However, despite the fixes performed by Ford dealership. The car still has problems of shuddering, hesitation, and stalling or inability to accelerate. Most of the time the clutch experiences slips between 1 and 2nd gears. It is not safe to drive on the highway. Ford service center is refusing to fix the problem as the 10 year power train warranty has expired in may of 2023. I have spent thousands of $'s in maintaining the vehicle and my wife loves it. But we cannot afford to keep spending money. It needs a new transmission and I feel Ford should fix it. I have been given a runaround. Can someone in Ford customer care help with this request to get my transmission fixed under customer satisfaction.
Driving on the highway car started to make a loud noise when I tried to accelerate I couldn’t then I lost power, lucky I was near the breakdown lane. I pulled over no warning lights ever came on started up again put gear in drive and it wouldn’t move only worked in reverse. I just found out that the control module was recalled last November but I was never contacted.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while his son was driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the intersection with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that his son was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle would not accelerate above 5 mph. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective transmission control module. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
The contact's mother owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop and then attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. There was no warning light illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was covered under an unknown recall campaign. After the recent failure, the contact was informed that the repair would be an out-of-pocket expense. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 64,812.
We bought a used car,as is, and had no problem. Approx 6 wks later it had trouble going into park and were told (by our technician) there was a recall on a computer. Made an appt. With the dealer and on the day it was to go in husband went to get gas the transmission failed so we had aaa tow it to them. They then told us the entire transmission failed and there was no warranty. We learned there was a nationwide problem with the computers. We never, nor did the dealer we purchased it from ever receive a notice from Ford that there was a recall on the outer computer. If they had done that the transmission could have been saved. I contacted Ford and was told to go back to the dealer they were doing nothing, the car sits in our driveway. This is not the only year Ford had a problem with Ford Focus transmissions. They should do something. We were quoted $9000, for a new transmission. Being on social security and a small pension we can't afford it and a used transmission is not feasible because of the major problems with the trans.
Transmission, there is a recall on the computer mounted outside the trans, we were never told there was a recall on it. Started making a loud noise and had trouble going onto reverse. Made appt. To take to dealer and day before went to fuel up and trans. Went. Aa a towed it to dealer and were told clutches in trans were computer controlled and were bad. Given estimate of $8000. To replace. Check complaints on this model and from 2011 and on there is a major transmission problem it should have a recall on the entire trans. My husband is 83 and fortunately he was stopped when this happened. Had he been driving it would have been bad.

The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the same repairs were completed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
At approx 01-05-2023 while driving at a speed of 30 to 35 mph transmission quit with no notice. Dealer says it needs a total rebuild with a cost of approx $3500. 00 to $3900. 00 the dealer or Ford refuses to make things right with me. Ford told me to make payment arrangements with the dealer and suck it up. I still have a loan on car for approx $7100. 00 . Car is currently disabled and is parked for good.
As I was driving down the highway, my car stopped accelerating. I was able to pull over on the side of the road and waited about 5 minutes before cranking the car again. After I started back driving, the car started to jerk every time it shifted. I took it to the mechanic and was informed that is was my clutch. They tried to fix it but the clutch was broken and I needed my entire transmission replaced. I paid $4000 to get it replaced, only for the same thing to happen 4 months later. I have not replaced it the second time.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that after shifting from first to second gear, the vehicle was shuddering and vibrating and failed to shift smoothly into third gear. Additionally, the vehicle failed to respond after being shifted into reverse. The failure was intermittent, and the check engine warning light would illuminate occasionally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the actuator assembly, the clutch assembly, the cylinder assembly, the levels, and the seals to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,684.
I've had several recalls due to the transmission/clutch issues. My clutch has gone out again and as I merged onto the freeway last Nov I was almost wiped out by a semi as my car didn't speed ahead but shuddered and juddered before it finally decided to speed up. It's at the shop again to replace the clutch, for $2900! I make less than 50k a year and this is a steep price for a lemon of a car that Ford knew was having issues. What to they make these clutches out of? paper mache? this is the 3rd!!! one.
I purchased a 2013 Ford Focus in the spring of 2020. I have taken my car to the dealership three times (it's about to be a fourth time) for the same transmission control module issue. They keep replacing the part because it is recalled, and each time the new module stops working after roughly 5,000 miles. Today is the fourth time it has malfunctioned. The car shudders and jumps when I downshift at stoplights, and it will not shift to fourth gear to drive at acceptable speeds on the highway to my job. The car never shifts well, but this is dangerous.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at an undetermined speed, the vehicle would shudder while shifting gears. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission module had caused the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.
In 2017 a Ford mechanic shop accepted my 2013 automatic transmission Ford Focus titanium due to a factory transmission recall. They paid to have the entire transmission replaced (supposedly), which at that time it was at about 70-78k miles. I haven’t driven it over 59k miles at most since then. That’s no less than 19k miles under from the time before. A local Ford dealer (sam galloway Ford in fort myers, florida) informed me the issues are a bearing, the clutch and clutch actuator that need to be replaced, which costs about $3. 7k with the diagnostic fee, which I shouldn’t have to pay for due to the issues resulting from what Ford knew of years ago & the fact the “fix” was like that off using a dirty band-aid that failed to provide conscious moral safety for me the owner/traveler via using it. Furthermore, the issues with it pose a tragic liability to other peoples’ health & lives that have been threatened as well as my health wherein this dangerous vehicle insufferably delays with upshifting automatically, jerks & fails to accelerate in legal traffic that requires all travelers to go when the light is green of which I could have gotten ticketed for! Ford needs to make this financially right for me by covering the repairs or buy the vehicle from me of which I’ve owned since about 33k miles near the end of 2015 (I’m the 2nd car owner).
Like me and countless others, the transmission shutters at low speed causing a safety issue, apparently people have been having this issue even out the door when their cars had 100 miles on them, I just got mine and it has this issue, I'm gonna go see how much it is to get fixed but I'd like it if I didnt have to pay since so many others are also having this issue.
While accelerating from a stop or low speed the engine revs and does not shift gears. Impossible to increase speed above about 30 mph. After taking my foot off the gas pedal and trying, again it sometimes works fine for awhile. Intermittent, but dangerous, since I never know when pressing the gas pedal will make the car move forward or just rev the engine with no effect.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle jerked and lost motive power and failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed clutch and actuator. The contact was informed that the clutch and the actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while at a stop light and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dual clutch was replaced; however, the failure continued and the dual clutch was replaced several times. The manufacturer was contacted and but offered no assistance. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 75,000.

However, the failure had been reoccurring while driving from a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the used car dealer where an unknown software was reprogrammed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the used car dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,042.
The 2013 Ford Focus has a manufacturer defect that the Ford has been aware of. The vehicle has slowed down to 15 mph while I driving the expressway making it very unsafe. When I took it back to the dedealership I was told that I could not drive the car but no rental car would be provided to me. It has been over a month with no rental car and being unable to drive my vehicle, and Ford has not to accountability for the inconvenience that this has caused.
Ford extended the warranty for the transmission control module to 150,000 miles. Mine has failed at 160,000 miles but there is possibility for extension through Ford, they stated that this mileage is set by NHTSA. I don't mind repair cost, but to add insult the part is not available for 2 months as stated by the service department at the dealership. With current market situation, the mileage should be extended. This failure makes the car unsafe to drive, Ford should extend the warranty mileage further, especially in the current market of vehicle availability. Also, Ford needs to work with a supplier to improve lead times.
I was driving 65mph on CA highway 880 in the left carpool lane. Suddenly my transmission slipped and my car ended up in neutral. I was forced to park in whatever space there was between the concrete barrier and the carpool lane. After the car stopped, the transmission would not re-engage for another 3 minutes or so. After that it re-engaged and I was able to drive back home. My understanding this is one of the issues that can be expected with a Ford dps6 transmission. Completely unsafe. I had two young children in the car.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the message "transmission overheating" was displayed, and the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission clutch forks had become stuck, and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.
Car mileage is 67k. Noticed the car is shuddering and little jerk upon moving the car, upon calling the Ford customer service, was being told there is a recall for transmission control module, went to a service center and was been told it needs a full transmission replacement and there was no control module affected. I have noticed in the forums that it is common problem across all Ford Focus and causes shuddering. This has caused me a concern given the mileage is less than 68k and the transmission has gone bad incurring huge budget for repairs. There are no warning lamps or any other symptoms.
My daughter has a 2013 Ford Focus se and has had numerous issues with her transmission which of recent has presented some serious safety concerns. She had driven her car to work and when attempting to leave after work was unable to get her car to move . She put the car in drive and reved the engine then in reverse the same , would not move. We had the car towed to sarchione Ford of alliance and was diagnosed as the transmission actuator a . My understanding of the actuator is it engaged the transmission into gear. I recently read an article in a Ford forum relating to the April 2020 class action suit and I quote a blogger stated that this defect can abruptly cause car to jump into gear which could cause a safety issue . Another blogger stated that he had a similar issue while on an expressway traveling fast and ended up on the shoulder until eventually getting the car to move again. My daughter's Ford Focus 2013 has had 2 recalls issued relating to the transmission. Program #14m01 transmission clutch shudder / transmission input seal warranty extension which is no longer valid. Program #14m02 transmission control module which has been extended to 150,000 mile or until February of next year. Both of the said recalls we're mandated due to the numerous safety concerns relating to failure or uprupt operation due to design defect and no fought of the vehicle operation. So I pose a very simple question, why has not actuator a and b of the Ford Focus been issued recalls when failure of said parts presents safety concerns? there should be a warranty extension mandate to repair at no cost to vehicle owner. All of these said parts work together when operational to perform safe driving practices on the contrary the motorists are left at risk regarding highway safety. I have written a letter to ceo jim farley to reevaluate his customer satisfaction program and recall procedure. The NHTSA needs to review the said safety concerns. I have filed with Ford motor pas-37493284.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds, the transmission failed to shift as designed. The contact stated that whenever the vehicle was shifted into gear, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. No warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
The transmission on our 2013 has now failed. We brought it to Ford’s attention back during the covid shut down before the Focus reached the 100,000 mile expiration. Ford said there’s nothing they can do about it. We gingerly drove the car to make the transmission last as long as possible and it lasted quite a while. However now the transmission has failed it and after taking the vehicle to a certified mechanic they found the dtc code showed p0805:00-68, the description was clutch position sensor a circuit, and the status was continuous memory dtcs, another code pc805 had a similar description and a status of “freeze frame module2”. Certified mechanic check this out and reported this information to me told me to go to a transmission specialist. The transmission specialist said it would cost at least $500, but if it turned out that the central module was at fault there aren’t any parts to be had. Ford is not making any of them anymore. They said I could pay the $500 and then your car will sit because there’s no parts to fix the central module. I would like the car repaired but I have another question. Why isn’t the NHTSA making Ford fix this issue. Ford new their transmissions were faulty and sold the automobiles anyway. Where is the NHTSA on this issue? well I be able to get the Ford Focus fixed?.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph on the highway, the vehicle was bouncing. The contact was able to pull over safely to the side of the roadway. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The transmission and the clutch are faulty from when they were originally made. I had it diagnosed at a Ford dealership. I have taken it into the shop 3+ times and have spent thousand to fix it. My car is an automatic, but it shifts gears like it’s a manual. The “faulty transmission” alert will show up without warning and my car won’t start leaving me stranded. I’ve had to tow it twice. The car is unreliable and unsafe. It begins to shift even worse right before the “faulty transmission” alert then it won’t start. It’s acting up right now and I’m afraid.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus.
