The transmission would slip badly, even totally disengage. I was getting on a very busy road and accelerated and suddenly the car decelerated; the car behind me almost rear ended me, honked his horn, but there was nothing I could do. It slipped not as badly last year and Ford fixed it, saying it was under an extended warranty for known issues with the transmission, but now they say it is not covered and will cost $2200 to fix. There are pages and pages on the internet talking about the problems with this transmission. It is dangerous!.
Clutch malfunction. Gear slipping. Not shifting properly.
Transmission slips from 1st gear to 2nd creating a dangerous jerky acceleration. It has almost got me rear ended. In traffic I was accelerating and it wouldn't short into second correctly. When it did it sent me jerking forward when traffic was stopping forcing me to hit the brakes hard and created a chain reaction which the car behind me nearly hit me. I was sent a notice stating it's a known issue and Ford would fix it at no cost. When I bring it in they are refusing to fix it because of its branded title. The NHTSA needs to make this a mandatory safety recall so Ford will be forced to fix this known issue so they can stop weaseling their way out of repairs that endanger customers safety.
The transmission slips on acceleration at starts and on highways. It feels like it's the transmission is in neutral.
Transmission jumps and slips randomly. Next day, it's fine. It's generally between 1-3 gears.
At 11/25/15, 15,490 miles Ford dealership checked vehicle for our complaint of increasing hesitation issues at acceleration. Found no codes. Second report at 8/10/16, 22,896 miles. We told dealership that it was like the transmission or clutch was slipping. No codes. 3rd report at 8/29/16, 23,057 miles-- dealer replaced clutch assembly and seal kit. At about July 2019, 50,000 miles same problems resurfaced. 8/6/19 Ford dealer confirmed car again needs a new clutch, but no longer under warranty. Car is stuttering at take off from busy intersections, acceleration ramps, etc almost causing serious accidents. Should not have to replace a clutch every 25000 miles. Affordability is issue and safety issue because of affordability.
Since purchasing the car in 2014 I have had multiple transmission issues. Clutch replacements. Sensors. Everytime given a different excuse for the same shutter and issues with the car stalling. This last time the car completely haulted from going 45mph on a 4 lane road, trasmission light flew on, rpms would rev up, but car would barely creep. I was almost slammed into from behind before I could safety move to the slow lane and travel to a safe stopping point. Yes the car was still abke to navigate, but that did not matter when vehicles were coming up on me driving 45+mph to my vehicle that stalled out. I called Ford. It took days to get the car back and it has been running worse than ever! transmission is constantly slipping. A new constant shutter has now developed. The car will sometimes begin to move from a stop light, but decide to suddenly drop to a crawl and the rpms go high then as it corrects the rpms no longer adjust and the car no longer feels it is auto shifting correctly. Issues occur during driving, on highways, at stop lights/signs. When going a steady speed wheather is it 25 or 65 the car constantly shutters all the time now. The transmission or clutch slip anytime any given day. It is unpredictable. Worse more dangerous problems with this vehicle and no help from Ford.
Ford Focus se 2014 dps6 transmission issues. Vehicle slipped into neutral in motion while ascending a hill at 65mph. This caused my vehicle to lose speed quickly which almost resulted in me getting rear-ended by a semi truck who was tailgating me. He proceeded to honk as he probably thought I got on my brakes. Transmission slipped into neutral in motion, while pulling out into a then clear intersection to get across a 4 lane highway. Almost resulting in me getting t-boned by oncoming traffic. Stopped to cross an intersection I waited for a clearing, I pressed the gas the vehicle proceeded very slowly into the intersection almost as if the transmission was lagging. This could have easily caused me to get t-boned while in the intersection.
Extreme shuttering coming from the transmission, first gear slips, sucking cares the worst and slips the most and struggles to get the third gear. The gear slip every time you come from stop to go, and second gear such the worst again but worse when you're turning.
Transmission slips and stopped working. Software has been updated/reloaded 4 times. Replaced control module. Fixed clutches.
The vehicle idles rough, the transmission slips and the rpms get high in first and second gears, it takes forever to accelerate, the fuel gauge will say 100 miles till empty then die on you, I have been stranded 5 times in less than a year due to that, recently on 2/8/20 the car wouldn't accelerate in the middle of a busy intersection and proceeded to stall in the middle of the road. I had to literally push the car out of the intersection and into a store parking lot during 5pm traffic. I cannot believe this car received a 5 star safety rating, I feel a number of things about this model car and company but safe definitely is not one of them. Doors that have defective latches, opening at anytime, transmission problems leading to cars constantly almost rear ending you, and a car that can stall in the middle of a busy intersection or freeway, is not by any means a definition of the word safe. I will never buy another Ford again, and I will convince any else to not buy from a company that values profits over consumer safety by installing cheap, defective parts and components.
Transmission slips in 1st and 2nd gear, sometimes so bad that acceleration is lagging. Dangerous in traffic.
2014 Ford Focus. Consumer writes in regards to several safety recalls received on vehicle after purchase. The consumer stated the transmission would slip while traveling uphill with the cruise control activated, the headlights shut off, and the engine would knock.
The transmission clutches slip so bad in these automatic transmissions. When you pull across an intersection sometimes it don't catch and it hesitates. You don't know if it's going to stall or not. It's worse on stop and go traffic. I was told the clutches are under extended warranty from a lawsuit. My vehicle was made on 9/24/2013. Supposedly the cutoff date was June of that year. These cars are faulty. I pulled out across a median and the car took off then hesitated. Right as traffic was approaching.

2014 Ford Focus se transmission recall/ repair. The transmission slips and jerks badly . Was told by Ford that this was a know problem for this car with this type transmission , but they would not help me. It is throwing codes for this.
Transmission slips when driving, jerking/jolting occur when I accelerate ( just reacts slow in responding as attempting to accelerate), difficult to put it into reverse at times it is jolty. This is a ongoing problem for the time I have owned the 2014 Ford Focus.
Transmission slips while driving.
The vehicle le transmission slips during takeoff from a stop. The vehicle lunges forward then feels like it will stall. Attempts to change driving habits has no effect. It feels unsafe when trying to turn from a stop. This occurred mostly during city driving in all weather conditions. It has also happened while accelerating during merging into freeway traffic.
I purchased a 2014 Ford Focus with a salvage title. I noticed the transmission was slipping when accelerating. I was told that there was a recall from Ford about this issue so I took the vehicle to mathews Ford dealership in sandusky, OH. They said that in fact there was a recall. They test drove it and said they would order the parts for repair at no cost to us. We received a call from mathews Ford on 1-9-17 saying Ford would not cover it because it being a salvaged title. There are a couple of concerns we have with this. First, Ford admitted this was a recalled vehicle. Selling and buying a salvaged vehicle is not illegal. And now I have the expense of fixing a problem Ford has had with these cars since 2012.
Engine over revving to shift. No engine revving or acceleration while turning. Rough shifting. Engine hesitation. Cannot maintain highway speed. Gears slipping. This is the second clutch pack (they last about 10k miles) on a vehicle with 21,000 miles. The car was dangerous to drive and had to be towed to the service center.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving various speeds, the transmission slipped and caused the vehicle to hesitate before accelerating. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission module and clutch were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 50,000.
While driving on city streets the transmission slips and jerks and sounds like it's going to fall out of the vehicle. This is a known issue by Ford with this vehicle and is unsafe to drive, especially merging into traffic. Ford needs to buy all these vehicles back! this continues to happen on a daily basis. It's been in for repair twice and a recall once. Still not fixed. I would sell this car if I could but the value has dropped significantly due to this known issue.
Have had vehicle for 1 year & feels like transmission slipping, jerky, & feel unsafe in car. Has been to dealership twice for computer updates & is just getting worse. No longer want car & very unsafe to have car jerking & I feel like it is going to break down any minute.
This car was bought used with 22218 miles on it on 12/29/2015. The car was running fine. By the middle of January 2016, the transmission was slipping. Before we made first payment on 2/9/2016, the transmission was slipping and shuddering going into second gear. Here it is 5/5/2016 and we are supposedly still waiting on a part to come in, we feel like we have bought their problem and we are on our own, and this could be a very serious issue in safety when your car will not go. From dead stop, shifting from first, going into second it shudders, hesitates, in traffic, it's really bad. This was bought for my teenage daughter to go to college, now I'm worried about her safety in it.
2014 Ford Focus. Consumer stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle did not shift into any gear and the engine revved highly and caused the transmission to slip.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to move forward and shook forcefully. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission slipped while shifting into gear. The dealer made three attempts to reset the computer system, but the failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 49,000.
September 10, 2015. 2014 Ford Focus se. Transmission slipping, grinding, hesitating and making loud noises. Very unsafe driving conditions. Had the Ford dealer service department look at it and they made an update to the programming. It was worse after this so I took it back the same day. It was even worse after they worked on it the second time. I ask if I could leave it with them until they could fix it and the service advisor said, "my mechanic says there is nothing wrong with the car so there is nothing I can do. I ask if he had driven the car and he said he did and noticed the issues I was talking about but Ford says that is the nature of this transmission.
Transmission slipping, rough start, grinding noise. Vehicle has been serviced numerous time. Passenger side front hub and lower arm replaced due to failure of a bearing. Vehicle taken in for the slipping/ rough start, the clutch is on back order. Was told by the service adviser that approximately 38,000 consumers nationwide are waiting for the same part for the same issue. He also advised that the vehicle will always have this issue from having a duel clutch system, and that Ford will not cover any costs past the warranty 36k/50k.
Whenever accelerating from being stopped (red light, stop signs, etc) the transmission hesitates and slips before changing gears. Appears to happen while trying to shift to 2nd and/ 3rd gear. This has occurred since day one of owning the car. Bought brand new.
The transmission has an issue through all gears where it slips. Because of this, you can't get power when you need it. Passing vehicles and starting from a dead stop at a light or stop sign causes the car to rev until the transmission catches up and applies power to the wheels. There is a two to three second delay from hitting the gas until the power reaches the wheels. The engine works fine because it's revving rpm's and you know the problem is in the transmission because you can feel it slipping like it's a manual car with a bad clutch. This happens from stop to go, and while the car is in motion on a highway or normal street when the speed limit changes from slower to faster. The problem is more persistent the warmer the car is. When I send it to the dealer for the problem they reset the computer and the problem persists after 100 miles or less after the reset. There is apparently no way to actually fix it unless they change the duel clutch system in the transmission out completely and they will only do this if the slippage reaches a certain point. I feel like I have been past that point for a while but the proceed to only reset the computer.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate and the transmission would slip. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis where it was diagnosed that the transmission crank had failed and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
Transmission shifting problems: hesitation/jerking while shifting; this problem is well known by Ford & the dealers; transmission slips. Anytime/where I'm driving my automatic-transmission 2014 Focus and press the accelerator after slowing down to or starting in first gear (as in from a stop), the transmission races as if caught between gears. This makes me press the accelerator down more to force it into gear. Sometimes it feels like the car is coasting along in neutral until it kicks into gear. This has also happened on the highway between other gears - there is loss of forward motion. I've been to Ford to "reset the transmission gauge" 4 times now- including for the 2 recalls for this dps6 transmission. The last time they had the car I had a rental for just over 3 weeks while they were replacing parts that they claimed caused the slipping. Since then, the problem has been better, but whenever I turn on the a/c and it's raining out, the problem returns. This has been going on since the 2nd month of ownership (oct. 2014) - a 5-year problem. There are several recalls and articles (eg https://Ford. Oemdtc. Com/1650/14m01-dps6-transmission-clutch-shudder-transmission-input-shaft-seal-warranty-extension-2011-2014-Ford-fiesta-focus) that relate to Ford's knowledge and repair attempts for this issue. Date on this form is first occurrence, not the last.
There is a grinding noise and shuddering issues with the vehicle. The car has very poor acceleration at times as the transmission seems to slip. Now at 10,000 Ford is going to replace the clutches. However, I am still driving the car as the parts are back ordered so I assume this is a common issue.
