Transmission shuddering and locked up in traffic I had to cycle the ignition key to get the vehicle off the road. I have 2 field service actions for my vehicle however Ford won't repair my issue due to the vehicle having a branded title. I had to replace the first transmission due to a cycling inside transmission which ended up busting transmission case.
I just purchased this vehicle used. I was completely unaware of the transmission issues in these vehicles. The car has 143,000 miles on it and the extended warranty that Ford has given only goes to 100,000 miles. Ford will not fix my cars transmission shuddering and jerking problems. When you go from a stop to pushing the gas, the car jerks and shakes the entire car while the automatic transmission tries to shift gears. It is very unsafe and the transmission will fail due to the faulty clutch and actuators.
My Ford Focus will pause at a complete stop, and when I go to accelerate, my transmission will shudder for around 2 seconds, leaving me susceptible to an accident.
Transmission clutch shudder.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the transmission shuddered and hesitated to move forward. The contact stated that the transmission warning indicator illuminated prior to the failure. The contact took the vehicle to selinsgrove Ford (10 n susquehanna trail, selinsgrove, PA 17870, (570) 374-8131) where the vehicle was initially repaired under warranty; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Transmission shudders upon acceleration from a stop or from a slow speed. Repairs were made under warranty a few times. Issue has returned but Ford is saying car is out of warranty so we must pay for repairs. There is a recall 14m01 that extends warranty on transmission for our year, make, model, symptom, and transmission but Ford says our VIN is not included. They cannot tell me why it's not included, just that it is not. Car has 51,000 miles on it, and requires its 4th transmission repair. Dealership has told us that our car has same problem with transmission that many Ford Focuses have.
Purchased 2014 Ford Focus in Dec. 2018, less than 31,000 miles in excellent visible condition from family friend for my child away at college. Was informed by previous owner that the when starting from 0 there is a small stutter as car shifts into 1st gear. A Ford dealership instructed them that there is a 10yr/150,000 mile warranty extension (14m01 -dp56 transmission clutch shudder), but cannot do anything until it gets worse. Taking ownership of the 2014 Focus, we did experience a shudder-shudder. My child informed me late Feb, early March the issue has gotten worse. Home for spring break, 03/24/19 week, took for test drive, and the issue is significantly worse; jumping-shuddering-jerking, shudder-shudder when shifting from zero to 1st and also 2nd gear. 03/25/19 took to my mechanic who instructed was transmission issue and Ford has various service publications and advised to take to Ford dealership. I contacted local dealership as well as Ford customer service 03/25/19 to make appointment and start claim. 03/25/19 pm dropped off at autonation Ford. 03/28/2019 informed transmission clutch is out of specification and defective, and will cost $2060 +tax to replace. Also informed that the defective clutch is not covered with the extended warranty (14m01 -dp56 transmission clutch shudder). Also that the vehicles original 5yr/60,000 mile warranty expired on 02/08/2019. 03/28/19, contacted Ford customer service , received case#, and instructed that my issue has been logged but Ford will not do anything, that although the vehicle has 32,986 miles, the 5yr warranty, expired 02/08/2019. Ford did inform me that I can contact NHTSA. Although customer service was polite, this is absolutely not acceptable customer service with a known defective issue. Without resolution, this is, was the 4th and last Ford product my family of 5 will ever purchase, and advise others also to not.
Transmission shuddering. Clutch replacement.
My car has a severe transmission shudder when applying gas after stopping. It has been diagnosed that it needs a new clutch. I'm aware that Ford has extended the warranty on on this model Focus due to a dysfunction within the design of the dual clutch system, however my VIN number has not received this extended warranty for some reaso and I would have to pay to get it repaired. . The car is not safe due to a defect.
2014 Ford Focus driving on rt 1 at 40mph just stop moving forward in traffic. Was lucky to pull over to the side of the road. Car would not move while in drive. Turn off car for a few minutes then car was able to move forward. Don't know what to do car only has 19k miles on it. Prior to purchasing car used at Ford dealer with 9k? miles on it. Another time while in a parking lot car was not able to go in reverse or forward at around 11k? miles. Turn off car waited and restarted then it was fine. Also get shuddering in the transmission all the time. Call Ford they where no help on this matter as they stated this transmission would not be covered under warranty.
From a stop l was accelerating and the transmission made a grinding noise. My steering wheel shook or vibrated horribly and the power during acceleration was weak and I could not merge onto the highway in a normal manner. Normal meaning as a commuter to and from work on a daily basis. Highway merging from a stop.
Transmission clutches shudder/tried to stall, was fixed last year at 4280 miles. I now have 7820 miles and transmission it slipping/ clutches not working correctly. All occurrences while driving hwy/low speeds.
The transmission clutch shudders during light acceleration causing hesitation when at stop light or stop sign. On several occasions, when at a stop, I was almost rear-ended due to delay in acceleration. It feels like I am in 3rd gear when trying to accelerate at a stop light/sign.
Transmission shudders while changing gears. Had bommarito Ford dealership in hazelwood, mo inspect on 12/7/2016. Was told the clutch needs replacement. The car has 19,674 miles when inspected. Clutch is backed order and the car has not been fixed.
Transmission hesitates and shudders on acceleration, have had it repaired twice and now Ford says that its within the limits and does not need repair drive it some more until it gets worse.
Transmission shudders from start to 2nd gear. While moving at low speeds (5mph) and accelerating the car jerks that everyone in the car notices. The transmission clutch has been replaced 3 times, the transmission reprogrammed 4 times. Car has less than 40,000 miles. The ball joint has been replaced at 27,000 miles.
Power steering failure and hesitation, shuddering in transmission. Reported on 6/17/16 for previous failure incident on 5/13/16. Dealer had repaired vehicle under warranty bur repairs failed to work . New incident that occurred on 6/14/16. Internet search indicated class action lawsuits have been filed against Ford for both the steering problem and transmission problem, nhtsb appears to have already opened an investigation. Still waiting for repairs to be made.
On 5/13/16 power assisted steering failed. Vehicle very difficult to steer. Vehicle was towed to auto dealer. Also transmission shuddering, choking etc. No accident or damage occurred because of these at that time but elevated risk of an accident. Repairs for both made by dealer under warranty.
My car has bad hesitation incredibally jerky when starting grinding noises transmission not shifting properly Ford mechanics have admitted to knowing about the problem and has told Ford that it is dangerous. Hesitation when accelerating especially at lower gears. Make sit very dangerous to cross busy intersections. Currently don't have any pictures but plan to start recording my car.
The trunk will pop open while driving (in motion). It happened couple times on many different situations and even in the highway. Last time I was at an avenue and it randomly opened and I had to urgently park. I have recorded a video that shows the event. I have also sent my car to Ford over 4 times to repair my transmission as my car was shuddering and shaking on take offs.
Transmission shudders on acceleration and seems to slip when gas /power applied. Ford never completely fixed this problem when car under warranty and now will not touch it saying 2 months out of warranty when I brought it back 22 may 2019. Previously reported under warranty. This is a 2014 Focus. Ford dealer stated 2 months out of warranty, but previously reported. ?????.
My 2014 Ford Focus has had the clutch pack replaced three times by the dealer. The car has 19,000 miles on it. The transmission shudders upon acceleration from a stop and when accelerating from a slow speed doesn't down shift causing heavy vibration. The repair lasts a few weeks to a few months then comes back. The parts for the last repair took about 10 weeks for the dealer to receive. Two dealers I have talked to said the clutch pack on the Ford Focus and Ford fiesta automatic transmissions are faulty and is part that fails constantly. My vehicle now has 19,000 miles on it and now has it's fourth clutch pack. The transmission is an automatic. I have paperwork for all of the repairs.
Automatic transmission slips and grinds causing the car to sometimes shake and vibrate. Downshifts while driving causing the car to seem to lose power while accelerating. I have almost been involved in numerous accidents. It is very unsafe and I am sometimes frightened to drive it. I took it to the dealership for repair in November, 2015 but Ford has yet to repair it 3 months later. The problem has gotten much worse and I fear for my life while driving it. I bought the car with 26000 miles on it and it now has 32000 miles.
Transmission shudders and bucks in first and second gear. Loses power when shuddering. Difficult if not life threatening to drive at low speeds around town, in rush hour traffic. Brought in for recall and had transmission re programmed, but is now worse than before. Did research online regarding issue and found many with the exact same issue. Vehicle purchased 4/14 and has less than 15k miles. This is in addition to fuel pump recall that I received 11/15 and parts for that recall are still not available 3/16.
Vehicle quit accelerating while trying to make a turn into oncoming traffic. Engine didn't die but coasted for 2-4 seconds. Severe transmission shudder and grinding in separate incidents. Has been to dealer 4 times and they can't determine the problem.
2014 Ford Focus. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle high rpm symptoms and transmission shudders while driving. Consumer wants dealership to buy back vehicle. The consumer stated in his opinion, the vehicle was still not shifting properly after the dealer made the repairs.
Transmission shudders when shifting at low speeds. Computer has been reset 3 times after Ford recall.
Vehicle transmission shakes, shudders, or pulses on initial acceleration within city traffic. Misses shifts causing car to surge or hesitate in traffic. Two software updates and replacement of clutch assembly reduced but did not eliminate the issue. Drivability is extremely poor and unpredictable particularly in stop and go traffic.
Driving downhill at approximately 50-60 mph near payson, az, the transmission suddenly revved to 5000 rpm and my acceleration was limited. I had to slow down significantly before the transmission reached the correct gear. The car also shudders and the transmission is unpredictable and jumpy at slow speeds (driving through parking lots and residential areas). Acceleration is often delayed and jerky. This issue has become progressively worse over time. A google search for "2014 Ford Focus transmission issues" reveals numerous complaints and media coverage of this ongoing issue. Please force Ford to recall these defective transmissions.
The transmission shutters and shakes and doesnt go into gear smoothly. When pulling out into an intersection is very hazardous because it doesnt shift properly to accelerate. It is a constant problem not intermittent. There is usually a loud clanging from underneath the vehicle. It was taken to the Ford dealership and the service bulletin was performed which did not help and they ordered a new clutch. With the enormous amount of these same issues I have been waiting 7 weeks for a clutch to come in and it doesnt appear that it will be arriving anytime soon. Being a police officer for over 23 years I can recognize this issue as causing fatalities, if it has not happened already. I deal with inattentive drivers on a daily basis and this is a prime recipe for someone not Focused and pulling out with a hesitant transmission which would cause a deadly accident. I hope you gather enough information to reach a remedy to this potentially fatal cocktail. Thank you for your time.
When trying to accelerate in the car the transmission shudders and causes the vehicle to stall. The transmission has issues shifting and causing the vehicle to jerk.
Transmission shakes, jerks, loses power and overheats.
Transmission shudders in first and second gear. Bought my car brand new. At 45,000 miles I had to have the entire transmission and clutch replaced! how is this even possible on a 2 year old vehicle? well, again 6 months later, at 57,000 miles sure enough the transmission is messing up again. This needs to be recalled! more than a recall, this is unsafe. Ford needs to buy back every one of the Focus' effected because there's no way someone could sell this car!. The car grinds, shudders, and stalls.
The automatic transmission shudders and stalls causing the car to accelerate eratically thereby creating unsafe driving conditions for the driver and motorists around the driver. Ford refuses to admit that there is a problem and continues to sell these unsafe cars.
