1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2020

The car displays the p0902 obii code. The engine stalls and wont change gears properly. This is specially dangerous when turning since the cars behind you can't see you're stalling and may crash into you. Some times it gets so bad that the dashboard displays a message that the transmission has heated up and I have to pull over immediately. The car won't even run or change gears at that point. This problem happens randomly when driving. Specially when the vehicle is idle for a while.

2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

When shifting down from drive to park, my shift gets stuck in neutral or when I am shifting from park to reverse, I am unable to move the car into another gears. When I am at a stop light and the light turns green my car seems to stalls to take off. When I drive down the street the car acts like it wants to shut off. A Ford truck almost hit me because the light was already green and my car stalled and would not go. I had my hazard lights and he swerved into another lane where the traffic was headed toward the truck. This very dangerous.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

The transmission has obvious issues. I have to gun it from a stop so it doesn't chug every single time I stop. One time I really feared for my life was when I was on a major thoroughfare and someone slammed their brakes on in front of me. I, in turn, slammed my brakes on to avoid an accident, which happened to be in the middle of an intersection. My car would not go back into gear immediately and take off. I was stalled and helpless. I felt like a sitting duck ready to be ran over. I fear for anytime I have to slam my brakes on to avoid an accident that I will again be sitting waiting to be hit. I bought my car used. I took it in to a dealership for recall work that I assumed would resolve the problem only to be told that no it didn't cover my issue. I was also told that it was a known issue by Ford, and that the previous owner had gotten the tramsmission fixed while it was still under warranty but that the warranty time for the fix was now up and it would cost $1200 to fix. They told me even if I paid to have it fixed, it would inevitably happen again as they see this problem everyday. I do not have the money to get a new car. In fact, it is now the only car in our household as my husband is disabled. I feel I've been betrayed and left out to dry. I'm thoroughly disappointed in Ford. I do not make a lot of money as a school secretary. I regret putting my trust in a company that had a great reputation before this issue. I wish I could get my money back and rethink my purchase.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2017

Just purchased a used 2014 Focus with only 012755 miles on it, two days later returned to dealer to report drivers side mirror light falling off and unit hesitating and jerking lurching forward and grinding noise from dead stop, dealer didn't seem to think it was a big issue, was told they will look at it when I return to have mirror blinker r/r (part on order) almost hit house when parking that evening. Unit also lost power at 60 miles per hour when driving but motor continues to run, had to pull over in a panic, unit would not move when put in gear even when giving fuel, lights blinking (prdl lights) engine light blinking, seems to be ok after it sits for awhile. Unit also seems to not engage gears as speed picks up (stuck in low gears?). Help us please, we just purchased this car used from a Ford dealer why would they sell us a car so dangerous? it also is a Ford certified unit, we have put less than 100 miles on the car and afraid to drive it. We are senior's living on a fixed income and are a scared to drive the car. Someone is going to get hurt, we need this fixed soon, no way to get to the doctor. The car has been sitting out front for over a week now no contact from the dealer yet. Please help us, I have over two million miles safe driving record (awards. . . . ) with the largest trucking company in the us when I retired 4 years ago, I know how to drive and I know when something is not safe!.

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2016

While turning at a light, my steering went out and caused me to veer into oncoming traffic in the opposing lane. It now takes great effort and muscle to make and turns in the vehicle. I have had the vehicle in the shop numerous times due to a faulty transmission. Now when I turn on the vehicle, the instrument panel displays that there is an urgent transmission fault, then it will flash that there is an urgent steering assist fault. While running a vehicle health report, the vehicle states that the transmission is at a "reduced power state" which causes it to hesitate, not change gears, and not be able to accelerate properly - all of which Ford says are "characteristics of this transmission. " also, the transmission does not work at all in sport mode and has went into reverse or park grinding to a screeching halt while driving on a highway. Luckily, I did not crash when the steering suddenly went out. My vehicle is currently in a lemon law dispute, therefore, Ford will not further diagnose my vehicle.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2016

I have had my 2014 Ford Focus for almost 2 years now and it has been giving me nothing but problems with the transmission/clutches. The first time I noticed it was a little after 5 months of having the car I was driving the vehicle on the highway and out of nowhere it died on me shut off while I was in motion in heavy traffic. I was able to pull to the side of the road and turn it off and was able to turn it on and take it to the dealership. At the dealership I was told my computer malfunctioned and needed to be updated. After doing this my car was fine for about another 2 months then it started to sputter, hesitate while turning and in motion and also not shifting gears correctly. I took it again to the dealership and this time they told me my clutches need to be replaced and this happens all the time with my type of car. I was confused about them telling me this because this is very dangerous to be happening all the time. I go the car back worked fine for another 3 months then the same thing again with the transmission. Took it in again and was told again that I needed the new clutches in my car and I said new clutches? why was I not given a recall on my old one OH because we only change them out if you come in and complain about the old ones what?? really!! so got my car back and this time 2 months later today 1/23/16 I was driving the vehicle and was mid u-turn and my car turned off in the middle of my u-turn in on coming traffic almost killing me!!! I haven't been to the delaership yet but after numerous attempts with Ford corporate to fix this nothing is happening they are not taking blame for anything and refusing to recall these cars. Reading online I'm happy to see that I am not the only one they tell this too and it really makes me upset, angry and frustrated. I'm scared to drive my brand new car because of this please help me and everyone else.

11 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

The vehicle drives like it is in the wrong gear. It seems like the transmission or something is dragging. It does not go smoothly to another gear. It drives hard for a 2014 car. I don't know what the problem is.

12 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Original issue began immediately after purchase 3/28/15. Made appt. With dealership for April 15, 2015. I was told the car needed a new clutch. After a complaint to my state attny general, the repair was made in mid may. Car drove ok for a couple of months at which point the transmission issues began again. I took the car to the dealership on 1/4/2016 and was told yet again, it needed a new clutch. I have not heard anything from the dealership since that day. Specifically, upon acceleration the car stutters badly and does not want to catch the gear. During driving, if you take your foot off the gas to turn without touching the brake, transmission does not change gears; it roars and the tachometer needle swings to high rpms before it levels out. When you park the car, turn it off and take your foot off the brake, it sounds like something is banging against something else. If the car is parked on the slightest incline, upon starting, it is difficult to get the car to shift into reverse or drive. Furthermore, during routine driving you can detect unneeded shifting by the transmission. I regret the day I bought this car. Two bad clutches in less than a year. This transmission was junk from the beginning.

13 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

We have had problems with the acceleration since we bought the car. The car does not change gears cleanly. Instead it may hesitate before changing gears, act like it is in neutral with high revolutions and no change in acceleration. We have to play with the pedal constantly to try to make it act normal in changing gears even thought this is an automatic transmission car.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

15 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2014

The transmission was reprogrammed a month ago for serious shuddering and stalling. Within a week the engine would race and the car would not shift gears. The engine would also stall. In interstate traffic this is a scary dangerous situation. Now the dealership says the clutch is out. I filed a case with Ford and a customer service regional manager was to call me by Thursday. . No call. . . Friday a call was promised. . No call. Monday a promise. . No call. Tuesday a promise of a call. . No call. Wednesday no call. . Get the picture.

16 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2014

I have noticed while driving my vehicle that it stutter and makes a loud grinding sound when I am going up incliines and when I am braking. I noticed my car is will be jerking and feels like the transmission is bout to give away when I am in traffic. I took my car back to the dealship because it was still under warranty and explained to them the issues that are going on with my car. They proceeded to tell me that my issues was normal for my car. I asked how could this be normal that a brand new car stutter, grinds, shift gears on it own, jerks when applying brakes or acceleration, and feels like transmission is slipping. I spoke with the mechanic that looked at my car and he said that my model car is like it has a manual engine in and automatic car. He stated that this was normal as far as the manufactuers states but actually this is not normal. Cars should not be shifting gear automatically. This issues that my car is having are very hazardous, especially in stop in go traffic and on inclines, just driving period , in the end I feel something needs to be done about this with this making model car especially being that this is a newer model car (2014).
