3 Driveshaft problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

New vehicle less than 500 miles. Bad vibration while driving at highway speeds. The vibration starts at around 60 mph and is present all the way beyond 80 mph. The vibration can be felt inside the vehicle and also through the steering. Ford re-balanced the tires and also replaced the driveshaft, but vibration still persists. From other sources in the internet it looks like this is a problem which is not uncommon on Mustangs and Ford seems to refuse to acknowledge the issue. Since this occurs at highway speeds and seems to be coming in from the drivetrain makes this issue scary.

4 Driveshaft problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/13/2016

My new 2016 Mustang v6 has severe vibration while driving at most speeds. The dealer service dept. Determined the problem was a faulty drive shaft and replaced it twice and indexed the second one after installation. The car still vibrates. The tires were road forced balanced and rotated and the vibration is still happening. This leads me and other professionals to conclude that there may be other malfunctioning parts or a possible design flaw in the drive line which I believe Ford motor company knows about. The vibration is felt through the car and the rear mirror image is blurred while driving. A Ford customer service rep. Has told me this vibration is "normal" and "no repair is needed". They refuse to investigate the cause further or fix this defect. I wonder, if it is normal why did they try to fix it twice. It appears this is a common problem with these cars or if they were designed so a vibration can shake your body while driving, as the customer service rep is implying, then the consumer should be made aware or notified of this vibration characteristic before purchasing. Note, that while the service dept. Was attempting to diagnose the problem the shop foreman told me he drove four new cars from their stock and found 3 of them to have this vibration defect. Now in my vehicle it appears that the vibration is causing the rear axle differential seal to start leaking. I would like to suggest that a investigation be started into this matter to determine the extent or number of vehicles that are experiencing this sensation. Regardless Ford motor company should be made to fix these defect on all vehicles affected or refund the consumers the purchased price of the vehicle if they cannot fix it.

10 Driveshaft problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/16/2011

Shifting from 1st to 2nd, during heavy acceleration merging into fast traffic, shift could not be made - skipped 2nd going to 3rd to avoid becoming an accident. Transmission shifts poorly from 1 - 2 as a rule and 3 - 2 on the down shift. Suspect this is due to the mass - stored energy in the mass of the 43lb two piece drive shaft, drifting the syncro's out of alignment when the clutch is engaged - the shaft pushes the output shafts one way while the engine/clutch assy takes the input the other - stored energy in a rotating mass. Additionally the inadequate design and construction of the shifter makes the "gates" vague to non-existent, and in the case of the 1st and 2nd, non-existent; I am frequently putting the transmission into 3rd vs 1st - no centering spring in the shifter itself, relying on the poorly designed components of the shift forks in the transmission. Aftermarket solutions are to install a much higher quality shifter and one piece al drive shaft at almost 1/2 the weight and a more appropriate fluid. Please get this one addressed - Ford has a problem!.

14 Driveshaft problem of the 2001 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/01/2001

This is the 2nd Mustang 5spd transmission I have purchased through the dealership and Ford that has the same problem. Concerns of vibration felt through the seats, floor, and steering wheel while traveling at highway speeds! being the 2nd vehicle, I have been battleing the dealership for a whole year and have just now been given the opportnity to meet with a Ford rep. The poblem has been overseen by a Ford tech. Twice with a replacement of driveshaft twice which still hasn't resolved the problem. I have testimony from othr service reps with other dealerships that state they feel there is a problem with the car and it is not the tires!(vibration that is) also mangr. And techs. At a goodyear tire shop. The dealership"s shop foreman felt the abnormal vibration on a testdrive with me and felt it was out of the ordinary, however, his service mangr. Later went on test drive and stated that he felt there was no problem. Also the Ford rep. Testdrove the car and stated he felt no problem either!. The car has been repaired in the past year over 9 times for the vibration! so there was a precedent already set before the Ford rep. Got involved. My concern is that I still have a vehicle that has anabnormal vibration while traveling between 65-75mph on highway, it has been documented by me, the dealership, and Ford. The vibration keeps coming back and I havebeen told by reputable sources that it could be a safety issue due to the amount of abnormal wear that can happen to my tires from this abnormal vibration I told this to Ford, many months ago, so they switched my tires, including the brand(from goodyear to michellins)when the Ford rep. Was asked the question by me how is it that th dealer's shop foreman felt the abnormal vibration and he didn't, his response was that it all ended with him no matter who found what!!!this probably seems very convoluded but I am just expressing my concerns with regards to my safety ,as well as the safety of my fellow consumers. Thank you, tg.
