While driving my 10r80 automatic transmission shifted into neutral even though the shifter was positioned in drive. I was unable to accelerate and was forced to pull over on the side of the road to prevent an accident from occurring. I placed the shifter into park and turned the car off. I then started the vehicle back up and began driving. The transmission continuously shifted rough while driving my destination.

After driving for 2 blocks, my car would not drive when hitting the gas pedal, the engine only reved. Unable to move the car in any gear, pedestrians helped push my car out of the middle of the road. Towed the car to a Ford dealership because the Ford app on my phone said "shift solenoid stuck in off position". Upon diagnosis the dealership said yes the solenoid is stuck in the off position but now the gears are slipping and you need a brand new transmission. This is the 10r80 automatic transmission that has had problems like this nationwide. I don't understand how this has not been recalled yet. With 63,000 miles a transmission should not be failing. There have been hundreds of documented cases of this specific transmission failing for countless reasons involving internal components.

I was driving at 70mph and the steering wheel locked without any error showing on the dashboard. Ford could not find a fault when it was connected to a computer. Later after a test drive they confirmed it was the electronic power assisted gear assembly fault.

The weld that connects the clutch pedal bar to the tube it pivots in broke on my 2015 Mustang. This makes the pedal wobbly and can prevent the clutch from being fully depressed. For months, the clutch was squeaking. Upon inspection, I noticed the weld was broken. I have not been in an accident because of this, however, the clutch pedal is now loose and can at times hit the 'neutral' switch (which measures full depression of the clutch to allow the car to start), which prevents inconsistent depression of the clutch, leading to unsafe operation.

Transmission solenoid malfunction (p0757). Car came to an abrupt stop in the middle of a speeding boulevard for no external reason at all. There was no prior impact or damage. I almost got rear-ended and t-boned ten times. Considering the amount of complaints on this Ford transmission 10r80, I firmly believe this transmission needs to be recalled and our repair/damage expenses reimbursed. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 mph the vehicle was shifting roughly. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but became a recurring failure. The contact stated that the failure occurred at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to technical service bulletin number: 20b27 torque converter (power train). The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Related to regional recall 22r01, the rubber bumper on my brake pedal that engages the brake light switch failed and placed the vehicle in a low power mode. This failure occurred while merging onto the interstate and almost resulted in my being rear-ended by a semi truck. Having never been notified of this regional recall, I was able to verify this was the case after searching forums and youtube and identifying the pieces of the broken bumper in my floorboard. I find it to be horrendously unacceptable that this was allowed to be handled as a regional recall and no notice was ever produced, as it is a safety-related issue that could have resulted in grievous bodily harm. I am located in kentucky, which is not part of the named region.
Transmission seems to lose power while driving, the car will barely pull itself but the rpms increase if I accelerate. This has happened several times while driving and occasionally there are dash lights lighting and speedometer/gas gauge doesn’t work but that doesn’t happen every time. When it happens I pull over and shut it down and restart and it runs correctly until it happens again! I do a lot of highway driving and the car just “falling flat” on a multi-lane highway at 70+ mph is definitely a safety issue! I have taken it to my local fastlane shop and the car was driven but didn’t malfunction at that time. He advised me to try to drive it there if it happened again, but I have never been close to the shop at the times it happens or they are closed. There is no advance warning, it happens at various speeds and even on takeoff after stopping for traffic lights. I once was pulling into traffic when it happened and didn’t have enough power to get to my lane before it fell flat! fortunately I could back up before getting hit by oncoming traffic.

Flywheel broke while driving under normal conditions causing damage to clutch. Have to replace the entire assembly along with slave cylinder. When speaking to Ford technician they stated it's a common issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, upon the transmission shifting into 4th gear, the tachometer rose 3,000 rpm, after which the vehicle lost motive power and the transmission was unable to shift above 4th gear. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the clutch. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while shifting from reverse(r) to drive(d) or from park(p) to drive(d), the vehicle jerked before shifting into the intended drive mode. While driving between approximately 50 mph, the vehicle was shaking abnormally while accelerating. The check engine warning light had illuminated intermittently. The wrench symbol was displayed on the instrument panel, and the vehicle lost power. The waited for a while before restarting the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that there was a failure with the transmission but had not determined what part in the transmission had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
6speed manual transmission defect won’t go in 5th ,6th gear.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle started stalling. The contact pulled over to the side of the road; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission range sensor failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 12v190000 (power train, exterior lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
Yes, if the NHTSA communicates with me that they need to look at my transmission, and I am either provided another equal mode of transportation or paid for my lack of ability to use my vehicle during inspection/possession/out of service by the NHTSA. 10r80 10 speed transmission was finally replaced under warranty by Ford in January. The new transmission has been problematic and getting worse since March. Transmission flairs/slips. Transmission acts as if the brakes are put on at times/acceleration is greatly decreased for no reason. Hard shifts at times… I and other others are put at risk due my car, responds erratically and this could become a safety issue by causing a crash or loss of control by the Ford mach 1 Mustang. Transmission often is too high gear and the as a result, the engine is lugging too much. No idiot, lights or warning lights have come on this go round. The police have not inspected the transmission. I would not expect them or ask them to inspect the transmission because I would assume 99% of them would know very little to nothing about it. Same goes with the insurance company. Ford and chevy the two manufacturers of this transmission are both aware of the multiple problems of this poorly designed and manufactured transmission. I was not sure what incident date you wanted. The first transmission or second transmission? there are multiple incidents and issues starting from my first ownership of the car when I first test drove the car and had 550 miles on it. The original and replacement transmission are both and have been problematic and unsafe.

Recently started having erratic shifting issues. Will downshift randomly out of nowhere while driving. Sometimes will just be stuck in 1st gear and won’t go anywhere until I pull over and shut off/start up again. Dangerous because I never know when it will do it. Might seem like everything is fine and then all of a sudden, it downshifts and loses power. Rpm’s rise but car has no power. Have to figure out how to get out of the way. As stated in Ford’s “ customer satisfaction program 16n02,” my 2012 has all the symptoms and I have dtc code p0731 but dealer refused to service my vehicle because it doesn’t show up with my VIN, even though it’s a 2012 and I clearly need my molded leadframe replaced.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving and reversing at an undisclosed speed, the park-aid fault, pre-collision assists not available, and another unknown message were displayed. Additionally, the rear-view camera was inoperable while reversing. The gear indicator failed to display on the instrument panel. The rev-matching feature was also inoperable while downshifting. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 22v382000 (power train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle had previously been repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 22v382000 (power train). The failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer determined that the clutch, flywheel, and slave cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
The following problem happened to me a few years ago (twice within a couple of months) and again, 2 days ago. Each time I was standing at a traffic light when all of a sudden it accelerated at full throttle. I practically stood on the brake pedal, but the car was inching forward, as I put the transmission into park. This was not a subtle situation, it was dangerous. The engine went from idle to screaming within 2 seconds. I ruled out the floor mat as it was in the proper position and snapped into the floor. It did not cause any warning lights to come on. In may, I had the oil changed, at which time they suggested that they clean the throttle body, which they did. They never heard of the above problem.

2015 Mustang ecoboost premium with performance package. Coolant leaked into the engine oil, causing damage to the engine. Now the engine may have to be rebuilt or replaced.
The transmission down shifted to first gear and the rear tires locked up. Skidding on the highway.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, the contact became aware that the vehicle failed to shift out of first gear. The vehicle then stopped independently. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to the transmission being faulty. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 37,339.
I drive a manual 6 speed Mustang gt 2019 the hazard that this vehicle is presenting and have seen many others complain about with a similar isssue that can be lethal causing an accident injury or even death. The Mustang is known to have a reverse lockout feature with a collar and a plastic assembly where the shifter is, but it seems as it was poorly designed or poorly assembled as the problem many Mustang owners are having ;such as me is that the vehicle will go in to reverse gear without lifting up the collar or in other words without disengaging the reverse lockout so instead of going into first gear it will go into reverse same goes for the second gear. I put the clutch in and put it in first or second gear or even just slightly pushing the shifter towards me and the reverse camera will turn on that is very unsafe and dangerous I recall this being also a dangerous thing for the shelby gt350 recall number 19b34 it’s not only a issues on those vehicles but also on the Mustang 2019 gt and other years.
I was driving at 60mph when the transmission automatically downshifted to second gear while all sport modes were off and t/c was on. Car was simply on drive, and after merging onto freeway and had completely let go of the accelerator pedal the car downshifted by itself no down shifting was done by the paddles. This is the 4th time my car does this and I have to upshift as fast as possible because rpms go up as high at 7000. I’ve made some reading and looked at some tsbs looks like this issue has happened to other owners who their vehicle is equipped with the 6r80 transmission.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at high rates of speed, the vehicle would downshift as several warning lights would appear on the instrument panel including the transmission and check engine warning lights. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective transmission control module and lead frame control module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred to the NHTSA. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

The welds on the top of the clutch pedal at the pivot point were insufficient from the factory and failed. I was having issues operating the clutch and after doing some research found that this is a common issue and was never covered under any factory warranty. I did not have this inspected at a dealer because I knew it would not be covered. I was able to remove the pedal assembly and repair it and added additional welds myself. I think this is a huge safety concern due to the possibility of the clutch pedal cracking completely and coming loose, which could cause the vehicle to unexpectedly engage the clutch and run someone over or cause a collision. I have photos of the damaged components. It took me a total of 8 hours to complete the repairs. I am also concerned about the quality of the steel used to construct the pedal as it may be too brittle. The oem should re-design this part and update their manufacturing & welding proceedures.
Transmission issue. Transmission is leaking fluid. Vehicle is currently at my home waiting to go to dealership during normal business hours. Car started smoking and running hot while getting off the interstate. I was in a travel lane when this happened. Huge safety risk. Fire department was called to ensure there was not a fire that started. Car was towed to my home until it can be towed to a dealer during working hours. General vehicle inspection done by fire department to ensure there was not a fire. They advised the car not be driven until it has been inspected by Ford. No warnings or indications there was a problem other than the smoke billowing from the engine.
Was driving my vehicle on the freeway traveling about 70 miles per hour when the vehicle suddenly shifted into first gear. I was able to maintain control and the vehicle shifted back to sixth gear. Issue occurred again within 5 minutes of the first incident and then the vehicle went into "limp mode". I was able to drive the vehicle home under this condition. Vehicle check engine light turned on and the code p0720, which is the output speed sensor circuit. This is the same issue that occurred on 2011-2013 f-150 and Mustang vehicles that currently have a recall for this (safety recall 19s07). The same transmissions (6r80) are used in both vehicles, as well as the powertrain control modules, but my vehicle's VIN did not fall under this recall. This is a very dangerous issue that could lead to a deadly accident.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle inadvertently jerked three to four feet forward. The contact stated that the transmission started to shift aggressively back and forth. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be factory reset. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that months later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the transmission was factory reset again however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
The clutch/flywheel/ and or other components of the drive train/engine/transmission connection are faulty and are known to fail for the 2007-2009 shelby Ford Mustang gt 500 as documented in the numerous Ford technical service bullitens (TSB). This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Late this summer (2023), I was driving this vehicle with my kids in the car and attempting to merge on the entry ramp for the expressway. I experienced a sudden loss of acceleration and the rpms immediately "redlined". I had to pull over to the shoulder of the expressway so I would not be rear-ended. I researched this issue and found hundreds of posts on Mustang forums documenting this known issue and the TSB issued by Ford. I have reached out to Ford directly and had my vehicle inspected at a Ford dealership. The Ford dealership indicated the issues were consistent with the known defective parts. There were zero warnings either by warning lights or symptoms and I am just fortunate to have been in an accident with my children. I only have approximately 27,000 miles on this vehicle and it is not modified in any way. I have the dealership documentation as well that I can email at a later date. I unfortunately do not have it in electronic format at this time.

The 2013 Mustang (with 67,071 miles) transmission (6r80) downshifted to 1st gear at highway speeds exactly like the f-150 recall and would also shift out of gear. It could have been catastrophic, but was able to keep control of the vehicle. Was able to get the car home and only drove it to the dealership after this incident. The dash showed the airbag light, no mileage and the wrench similar to the f 150 issue, which pictures are available. Teh vehicle would also sporadically act as if it was in neutral. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership and the transmission diagnosis showed codes p0722, p0731. The repair was extremely expensive and should be recalled similar to the f-150 faulty transmission. . Read more...
2016 Ford Mustang v6 this is extremely concerning as it's a safety issue losing power features while the vehicle is in motion. While driving the car provides an error message with a wrench sign/icon stating the transmission is not in park, then it proceeds to shut down the car leaving us without power steering. The car need stopped, move the transmission to park, and start the engine. Doing this clears the warning and you are able to drive the car without any problem. The two incidents occurrences were about 1 or 2 months apart. . Read more...

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and shifting gear, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall and referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
While driving the car goes into limp mode randomly causing the rpm’s to fall. There is no power to get off the road safely and has almost caused an accident numerous times. I have had diagnostics ran and the mechanic has no clue what’s causing this. Ford forums are full of these Mustangs doing this. It is a huge safely risk!!!!.

On 5-26-22 I took my Mustang to roush Ford in hillard OH. They tested and found out that I needed a lead frame connector. Part # al327627v $ 226. 10. I paid in advance for this part as roush said they would not order unless I paid in advance. Roush stated they would call when part comes in. I made several attemps to get status of part and all they would say is they were still awaiting. On or about 6-20-23 I called again, at this time they stated the dealership had been sold to valley Ford and still no word on part arrival. I have owned several Fords in my life but after awaiting over 1 yr on a part and car I could not safely have my wife drive I decided to trade it in for another vehicle. I then called valley to ask for them to credit my card in the amount of the part. They told me that the money went with roush and they could not return my money?? they suggested I call roush auto group( Honda ). I made the call to service manager and he said that roush Ford was no longer in business and they could not refund my monies. In my mind Ford was paid the $226. 10 and someone should be able to pay me back. I am asking that the Ford motor CO honor the deal by paying me back. Thanks.
