Ford recalled 202,000 vehicles and has a TSB for the bulkhead connection leakage in transmission, however my year 2011 was not, however I just paid over 600 for the repair and could've been killed had all the fluid leaked out. I think Ford needs to take responsibility for all vehicles, not just cherry pick particular year model. Mine is only one year off and it should be part of the recall or perhaps another infamous "customer satisfaction program" such as they did with the throttle control body issues. Dangerous! car downshifted while I was doing 70 on I-12.

Approximately 150 miles into a trip while traveling on interstate in 6th gear at 80 mph I had to slow for break lights ahead. Tried to downshift into 5th and immediately the tach red lined and the transmission would not engage. Tried to go back to 6th and same issue. Used the foot brake to slow to a stop and was able to drive in 1st through 4th gear or reverse. Drove to nearest Ford dealership in 4th gear for repair. The external diagnosis was fine so the tech went to remove the transmission. He noticed the vent cap missing off the transmission and only 1 qt of fluid left. There was a burnt smell and metal shavings in the assembly. The transmission was replaced due to catastrophic failure. Just 3 days prior to this the car had been serviced and the transmission, cap, fluid all checked out well. The tech at the dealership explained the pressure inside the transmission could cause a major burn-off of the fluid if the cap came off as it appeared. So a slow leak was not the case here. The removal of the vent cap was the root cause.

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Ford Mustang. The contact detected a substantial amount of transmission fluid leaking from the vehicle. The failure recurred when the vehicle was being driven or stationary. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who expressed concerns to the contact of a potential fire as a result of the failure and advised that the transmission would possibly need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 194,000. Kmj.

I have had nothing but problems with this car. . . First at a little over 1000 miles the car wouldn't go into first or reverse without a lot of forcing and double clutching. . . Local dealer said of we need to swap your transmission fluid to full sythetic and it'll work like new. That did nothing soon the car wouldn't go into fourth gear and wouldn't downshift to third gear either. It went back to. The shop they said they fixed it but even the tech said it wasnt 100% fixed and that it may periodically mess up. Soon there repairs got worse the car would completely lock rear wheels during simple downshifts or upshifts. They repaired again. At one point on the intestate it locked up and the person behind me lost controll and spun into. The grass off the road. . It went in again for repairs this time the clutch needed adjusting and the fixed some. Failed parts. . . Then the rear started leaking this past thanksgiving and I was stuck. In myrtle beach and the car was at the dealer there and the part the needed to. Fix the car was on back order. I'm a 22 year old guy with serious health problems trying to. Enjoy. Myself but the stress from this car is killing me and the car has caused an accident and I don't feel safe in it. . . Ford says there sorry but won't really do. Anything its spent over 80 days in the shop. For said I need a lawyer or they won't do anything to help me. I have filed multiple crc complaints but. Ford closes them when they say the cars fixed which it never is. Currently the cars been in the dealer the last 10 days and they say its fixed but also. Say its shaking cause my rims bent from rear end lock ups and I. Have wheel and tire coverage and they still won't fix the issue l. Please help me.
Under heavy acceleration transmission makes chattering/rattling sound. The sound is very pronounced. Took the car to the dealer, they replaced the clutch, rear diff fluid, output shaft seal and several bearings in the trans with no lessening of the effect. Dealer stated no repair was possible. Trans still leaks from the output shaft seal, and still makes a nasty rattle under acceleration loads. Post repair, it is difficult to shift into 2nd gear when before the trans has warmed up. After a bit of warm up, the hard shift goes away, the rattle never does.

Remote door does not work all of the time. Dealer replaced latch but did not correct the problem. Customer placed a small round magnet on the quarter panel on each side where the lid contacts the quarter panel temporarily correcting the problem. Customer would like the dealer to properly correct the problem. Car idles rough when accessorories are turned on. Transmission shifts harshly under various conditions. Transmission does not immediatelt engage in gear when going from park to drive. This seems to happen when car sits for an extended period of time but does not always occur. Customer has noticed at times an unusal large loss of transmission fluid but does not see a leak or smell. Right front door speaker cuts in and out.
