Ford Mustang owners have reported 7 problems related to transmission stuck in gear (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford Mustang based on all problems reported for the Mustang.
The transmission gets stuck in gear when you accelerate hard, you can't take the car out of gear and the clutch does not work. The engine continually revs/speeds up when no one is touching the accelerator. This is very dangerous and needs to be addressed right away. This was driving in sport mode, this has no happened in normal mode.

In a nut shell, look up Ford tsbs: 13-4-9 and 13-6-8. 2013 Mustang, 65,700 miles, with 6-speed auto (6r80) transmission will suddenly get stuck in 5th gear when starting or when cruising at highway speeds. Very dangerous when pulling out into traffic or an on-ramp and suddenly stuck in 5th gear with no ability to accelerate. Not to mention potential road range from drivers behind a car that can't move when the traffic light turns green. The orange wrench, airbag, low fuel indicators illuminated, the speedometer needle drops to zero, odometer, trip meter, "miles until empty" meter all display dashes while driving. Symptoms will clear after an ignition key cycle, but return. Trouble codes (dtcs) p0720 is sometimes stored in the powertrain control module. I'm currently stuck with a >$900 repair bill to replace the lead frame attached to the valve body in the transmission. Please increase scope of existing recall for other years/models with the same 6r80 transmission problem. Ford csp 16n02 has already extended coverage for 10 years, 150,000 miles on other vehicles with this same tranny, so it's incomprehensible the 2013 Mustang isn't covered as well.

I was shifting my car into 3rd hear and the shifter got stuck causing the transmission to not let me get out of gear this happened in my neighborhood.
I was driving along the highway, went to downshift to make an exit cutting across busy traffic, and the car would not shift. It was stuck in gear. I jammed it out and then it would not go back in! I nearly caused a semi to crash trying not to hit me since I was stalled in the middle of the road.

Bought this 2011 Ford Mustang on April 8 2011. Everything was fine for about this first month. Car did not want to start when clutch was pressed down had 800 miles at the time, classic Ford 1st dealer said needed a clutch adjustment? its hydraulic there is no adjustment on them! they had the car for about 6 hours to tell me that. Clutch still felt funny ,started hearing grinding, shifter would get stuck in r,1,2,3,4 gears then it went out stuck in 2nd gear! 2nd dealer jim hudson Ford took it to had it for 3 weeks before I got it back car had 6,000 miles on it needed a brand new clutch system from what Ford said. It was not a recall on the car they said it was a bad design! still is not right for Ford to push it under the rug like its not a big deal. These cars cost too much for us to be having problems with them and most our children that ride with us. I would like to know more info about this please thanks.
Transmission stuck in neutral four times within the first six months. It happens when you are going slow and you shift into 1st gear and don't let the clutch out and you try to bring it back into 2nd gear. The 3 times it did this in parking lots it was not a scary problem but when it did this at a busy intersection I almost got rear ended. At first Ford could not make it stick while testing and didn't know why it was doing this. Now they are saying when it does stick you either have to come to a dead stop( which I figured out myself) or double clutch it. I haven't double clutched a car since way back in the 60s. They say it has to do with the sensors not working at slow speeds. And they say there is no repair because it is a normal operating characteristic of this transmission. By the way this is the 2nd transmission put in this car. I hope you can help other people with this info before someone has a serious wreck. Thanks.
