Received a recall on my speed control. Made a appointment at dealership to replace defective part and they disconnected my speed control, but ran out of parts. The dealership and Ford motor company have been contacted about the availability of this part[scds] and they tell me January or February 2008. I have been without speed control for over 4 months. As soon as they disconnected my speed control my anti-lock light on dash has been coming on occasionally. The dealership has been informed of this. I am concerned that this could affect my ability to stop or avoid a collision.

Occasional loss of all braking power. 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 pick-up. This vehicle on several occasions in the past two months without any notice has had complete or drastic braking power loss. There are no indicator warning lights of any type to indicate there is a problem. On two occasions I almost hit other vehicles in the rear due to brake failure and my wife failed to stop at a stop sign and went out into the path of an on coming vehicle. (no accident).

I have taken my 1999 Ford Ranger to both mullinax Ford in wickliffe, ohio and classic Ford in mentor, ohio complaining about abnormal abs activity, the brakes do not engage at slow speeds and both dealers gave me a print out stating that that is normal abs activity( the truck was still under warranty during this time) I recently took the truck to a non dealer shop and they determined that the abs module was in fact bad and was reading 255 mph at speeds below 50 mph, I took this information to the dealer and they will not cover the repair cost even though this was the problem when the truck was still under warranty, this is a common problem with abs modules with Ford trucks as well as chevys and should be part of a safety recall, it will only be a matter of time before someone is seriously injured as a result of Ford not addressing this issue, I know you have other individuals with this issue who have run into fences or garage doors as a result of the abs module failing, it will only be a matter of time before someone is seriously injured as a result of Ford's negligence.
