Approached stop sign and pressed brakes which made a loud grating metal sound which had never happened before. As I slid into intersection I flipped gears to park which finally stopped the car. Took car to dealer and was told the rear brakes were practically unused and the front brakes were worn out which led them to believe the rear brakes were not connected or functioning and had not done so for some time. Ford refused to cover this under our bumper to bumper warranty even though there is obviously some type of defective faulty part involved. Luckily no accident came of this incident.

Back in December of 2000 we were driving home to virginia from NJ and crossing over the del. Memorial bridge and slowing down to go through the toll when we lost our brakes. We wen straight through the toll booth but with Smart and quick thinking I pulled the emergency brake to bring us to a stop. We had the vehicle towed and rented a rental car. The dealer in dover, del told us that it was a factory defect because the bolt came off the anti lock braking system. There was also not a safety device to hold it on. It should have had this. We reported this to Ford three times but are still waiting for an apology or some restitution. Last week we were driving down the road and my son screamed that his seatbelt didn't work anymore. I pulled over and the seatbelt would not lock again. He now has to sit in the rear seat at all times.
Reported spongy brakes. They bled brakes, lasted a week, now pedal goes to floor again. Emergency brake has almost no effect. Dealer says it's normal and all are that way.
While at a gas station consumer was pulling up to a window, pressed brakes and they went to the floor. Travelling at approx. 43 mph speed and applied brake. Vehicle accelerated instead of slowing down to stop as it supposed to do and caused auto accident. At the time of accident, vehicle had only 2 person, if the Mini van was fully loaded with max. Wt. , result could be much worse. Tried to test the brake again on a straight asphalted highway under the same speed and condition, pressed the brake pedal, vehicle accelerate first and then slow down to stop in long distance.
The accident is attributed to a car part failure. No other cause for this one car accident exists.
While pulling up into driveway, going slowly, applied brakes and vehicle didn't stop, it crashed into the garage door. Contacted dealer. Consumer was told that abs brakes were okay.
I applied my brakes at least 3 times and they did not grab or make any sound, no skid marks. I slid under the flat bed of a semi truck. My van was totaled. My daughter and I were injured. I called Ford motor CO. , and was told they would do whatever my insurance agent said. My case is now under review with the adjuster board through nationwide insurance in dayton, ohio, where the accident occured. My adjuster said there is no way to check the anti lock system since there is a hole in the engine and the van can't be started. I would appreciate any help in this matter or suggestions.
