1 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/15/2015

2004 Envoy xuv, impeccably maintained, car was parked in my drive way and I started it to go to the store and it started chugging and then almost died, but then went back to normal but the service engine soon and reduced engine power lights illuminated on dash. Turned off engine. Restarted, and the service engine soon light was still there so my husband hooked up his code reader and it had the code p1680 ( throttle body postioning censor. ) and this isn't the first time it's done it but the engine light has always just flashed it would never stay on so we could read the code. But in order to fix this you have to buy a whole new throttle body housing because the censor is built into it. And it isn't cheap. At autozone it is $280. 00. And you have to also buy a gasket for it and new intake manifold gaskets because to remove the throttle body housing which is connected to the manifold you have yo remove the manifold also. How in the world does gm expect us to be able to fix this issue if it's always so much money for parts for these cars. And I also have issues with my back tailgate and both big window motors. I have replaced one but still saving up to replace the middle one and I've also had issues with my gas tank which is $677. 00 or more at the dealers for a new gas tank because u can't just fix the filler hose. Such failures will eventually kill someone. So I think GMC needs to take a longer look at these GMC Envoy xuvs and get some recalls out to fix these dangerous problems. And honor all cars that come in no matter what. Because we had to fix the gas tank issue ourselves because we could not afford to buy a new gas tank.
