Consumer complaint concerning the antilock brakes which malfunctioned prior to recall notification. The recall work was done but the same day the antilock brakes failed again. The vehicle was returned to the dealer . The dealer claimed there was nothing more they could do.

Anti-lock brake failure possibly related to NHTSA action number : pe05020. Anti-lock brakes activate at low speed increase distance to stop without warning. Possible leading to rear ending of other vehicles and the possibility of injury to occupants of other vehicles. When concerns were addressed by dealer was told to replace sensors and clean rust or "pull the fuse and ignore abs lights on dash.

4 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem of the 1997 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 02/05/2005

Anti-lock brake system fails repeatedly. Upon applying brakes the brakes do not engage. The anti-lock system cycles repeatedly and unnecessarily, causing extended stopping distances. Narrowly averted accidents a number of times.

5 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem of the 1999 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 07/21/2004

Anti-lock brake computer failed at 67000 miles. The solid state device controlling the abs pump motor failed, locking the pump in a continuous running mode, even with ignition in the off position. Quoted repair is aproximately $1000.
