Brake Abs Warning Light Problems of GMC Sierra - part 2

While driving abs light came on & failed to go off. When the brakes were applied, the vehicle would have a jumpy or jerky motion before stopping. Taking vehicle to dealer to have it checked.

While driving and trying to make sudden stops the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. Also, abs light comes on, and the truck won't stop.

Initial problem 09/02/98 was both rear axle seals leaking causing brakes to fade. Again on 11/04/98 rear axle seals leaking, adjusted brakes. 11/06/98 brakes locking-up. 11/13/98 brakes grabbing, replaced both rear brake shoes, abs light on-module not activating brake release-replaced anti-lock brake module-master cyl bypassing-replaced master cyl. 01/20/99 abs light comes on-brake peddle hard to push-replaced abs brake valve. 03/23/99 brakes failed to slow vehicle-involved in accident-replaced abs pressure modulating valve.

Abs brakes do not stop in case of a sudden stop, 3-4 car lengths before it stops. Pulls to the left on emergency or fast stops. No abs warning light comes on. Dealer if abs light does not appear there is not a problem. Did not even attempt to review the vehicle.

The vehicle is having abs problems since vehicle was purchased. The abs light is on, when brakes are applied the abs kicks in, and consumer has to push on brake. Then there is a shaking. This results in extended stopping distance . Driver has to repeatedly push brake in hard to get it to stop. One day the abs pump came on and stayed on. This cost $700. 00 to replace. No codes were shown when taken to mechanic or dealership, they didn't know how to fix it. This occurs under 10 mph, in all driving conditions, and every and with no warning. Has happened more and more often as time has passed. The vehicle is not having other problems. Vehicle is regularly serviced. Consumer will have vehicle repaired at a local garage.

While traveling consumer noticed abs indicator illuminated, resulting in abs motor running while vehicle was turn off. Dealer has been contacted.

On 7 separate occasions the abs warning light illuminated and remained on. The service brake system message also illuminated on the dash. The brakes rotors failed. The dealership indicated that this was due to the asbestos brake pads being used. Please provide any additional information.
