Brake Antilock Control Unit/module Problems of GMC Sierra - part 2

Antilock brake system- very difficult to stop truck at low speeds. No accidents, but near accidents, and no injuries. Right front wheel speed sensors were replaced on 10/29/2003 and the left front wheel speed sensors were replaced on 10/08/2004. Both were replaced after the 36,000 mile warranty expired. Repeated failures of the truck bracking system to stop in sufficient time before panic set in!.

Abs module failure. My truck had problems with the abs activating since it was new. Just recently I have joined the ranks of owners with continuously running modules. When I found out it would cost at least a grand to fix, I pulled the fuse.

I experienced a humming sound coming from my vehicle when the engine was not running. I went to a gm dealer to see what the problem was. The service tech said immediately that it was bad wiring in the abs motor causing it to run at all times. This was a repair that needed to be completed immediately because the motor was running off of my battery. The dealer said that he has seen a few of these vehicles with the same problem. I proceeded with the repair and spent about 900. 00. This is not a recall, at least I am not aware of it, and should be investigated.

While driving the driver heard a loud noise coming from underneath the drivers side door. The noise continued after the vehicle was turned off. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership to have it serviced. The technician indicated that the automatic braking module failed.

Abs module went bad and caused the pump to run continously. I had to unplug the electrical connection to the pump to make it stop. I now do not have abs and the indicator light stays on. When I inquired about this obvious safety defect at the dealer, the repairs would be greater than $1000. At the time this occured, the truck had less than 50k miles on it.

I have a 1999 4 wheel drive GMC Sierra and I have had a lot of close calls with accidents, because the anti lock won't stop at low speeds. They replaced both front hub sensors and the problem still continues. They did it right after the warranty expired. I only have about 35k on my truck. All the rotors peeled and they just turned the rotors down. I later paid to have all new rotors and brakes on all 4 wheels replaced, but the anti lock brakes still activate and make it hard to stop at low speeds, almost causing a few accidents at times.

Contact states: the anti-lock brake sensor activates when driving on dry road at low to normal speed, 20-40 mph. The anti-lock brake sensor activates when it is not supposed to or when it is not an emergency. The car was taken to the dealer. However, they did not see that as the problem, and the anti-lock brakes were not repaired. The anti-lock brake sensor activates often. Complaint to dealer have been ignored. This happened since she bought the car. The number failures it is over 500. The date of incident date was when the problem started to occur. The brakes were replaced, for the fifth time, the but the abs sensor was not checked.

1999 GMC Sierra abs module had to be replaced. While driving the abs module locked up which in turn ran the truck's battery down.

Abs light illuminated and a humming noise continued after the vehicle was shut off. Dealer determined the abs control module must be replaced.

Consumer states that stopping distance has increased, and that braking capability intermittently does not function. Dealer diagnosed that the anti-lock brake module had failed.

When the engine was turned off, the abs module contined to run. Ak.

While driving vehicle abs and parking brake light illuminated. When this happened it caused brakes to lock up. Could be very dangerous in a sudden stop. Please provide any further information. Ts.
