The brake hubs were coming apart and rusting. Big chunks of rust was falling out of the hub. The vehicle has less than 31,000 miles. Provide further details. Brake rotor surfaces found to be delaminated and rusty. Vehicle is not safe to drive.
Continually rusting, corroded, pitted brake rotors requiring frequent replacement. Rear rotors replaced under warranty, 9/21/01, odometer=7,743. Rear rotors replaced again, 1/22/04, odometer=24,612 at my expense. Front rotors will need to be replaced (rusting heavily) before next state inspection (may 04).
Both rear rotors are badly rusted. Dealer will repair at consumer's expense of $714. 00. Vehicle had only 19,000 miles .

Consumer states that brake rotors are wearing. When applying the brakes the vehicle will have a heavy vibration and extended stopping distance. Dealer notified.
Caller said at low speeds the abs kicked in and made it hard to stop vehicle when slowing down. Caller had the problem corrected three times. Had them replace the abs in the spring of 2003, 2004 and in may of 2005. Dealer said the first time was a hub assembly and the other two it was the rotors. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

My 1999 GMC Sierra developed, over the past four months complete failure of the brake rotors on all four wheels. The brakes pads did not fail but they caused a groove to form in all four brake rotors. The rotors are pitted, rusted and worn below minimun thicknesses on all four wheels. The brake rotors are flaking and chipping around the edges and display a groove that is more than 3/8" below the normal thickness of the rotor. The rotors appear on first glance to have come off of a truck that is very much older than three years. The Sierra truck is also exibiting the same characteristics as the trucks mentioned in NHTSA campain id number 00v232008. When the truck is almost at a complete stop, the abs system activates and the vehicle shudders to a stop. The description in the above mentioned id number is the exact behaivior that promted me to take the truck to my mechanic, this truck was checked in April of 2002 and no brake problems were spotted. The repair job cost more than $700 to repair and my mechanic stated that he believes that the brake rotors should not have failed in this manner, that the type of failure that is indicated usually occures with worn brake pads, the brake pads in this case were not worn to the point of needing replacement.
Brakes felt spongy, took vehicle to dealer who noticed front rotors were disintegrating and had to be replaced.

Vehicle vibrates when brakes are applied at any speed. Consumer's mechanic found that front and rear brakes were rusted. Dealer stated brakes were normal.
Vehicle went through inspection in may of 2001. Techician stated that rotors were pitted, showing spots where big pieces were broken off. Before inspection brakes made a squeaky and grinding noise. As problem increased brakes began to chatter. Rear brake rotors were replaced and the front rotors still remained on vehicle.
Brake rotor separating from hub, causing excessive wear, vibrations; ultimately the wheel will fall off.
The accelerator had stuck, the transmission slipped, the flaps on the fender and the door trim had fallen off, the back window leaked, the heat shield was believed to have caused a vibration in the dash-per service dealer, the coolant light stayed on, the a/c had to be repaired twice, and the rotors vibrated.
My truck has experienced brake problems for some time and were attributed to various things over the past few years. Since purchase my truck has been serviced by franks truck center 325 orient way lyndhurst, NJ 07071 #201-939-7790. The pulling problem seemed to become apparent in Feb. 1999. The problem I experienced was that when braking the truck pulled to the right--sometimes sharply, sometimes it was a "gentle" pull and many times the problem wasn't there at all. Last February and at franks, the front rotor assemblies were replaced and an alignment done. The problem went away for about one week. The took the truck back for another try and it seemed good for another week or so and then the problem was back. They keep the truck for -5- days and did various thing to solve the problem another alighnment, balance the tires, adjust the brakes. All attempts were obvious but the problem was back within a week or two. At this point and date, the truck is constantly pulling slightly to the front-right whenever I brake. On occassion it pulls sharply. I have notified franks. They have told me that there is a problem with the braking system on my truck and chevy suburbans (which have the same braking system). Although my full warrantly expired after my February visit to franks, they have been attempting to resolve my problem. While this is appreciated, it doesn't solve what they have told me is an engineering problem. I bought my truck in order to tow a fifth wheel trailer (which I haven;t done much). At this point I am afraid to tow--and sometimes drive the vehicle for fear of the braking problem causeing an accident.
