1 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2020

Tl- the contact owns a 2001 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that pulling up to a stop light, the brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard to come to a complete stop. The contact stated that the abs and brake warning lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed the brake line disintegrated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer or manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. Aw.

2 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

While driving to work in spring 2018, I approached traffic light, depressed brake, which went to floor and had to use parking break to stop. Had vehicle towed to replace front brake lines. Then, 6-8 months later, while driving, came to another stop light, depressed brakes and could not stop until I used parking/emergency brake. Had Yukon xl towed to repair shop and had rear brake lines replaced in fall, 2018. Since then, brake lights and abs lights come on and stay on, whereas other times when starting and driving, brake & abs lights come on and then go off while driving. Braking has always seemed to be insufficient.

3 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2014

Pulling into the driveway under normal, dry conditions, the brake pedal went down to the floor, and the brake light on the dash illuminated. We came a few feet from crashing through the garage door. This was a result of the driver's rear brake line springing a leak with no warning whatsoever. The affected part is the formed metal line that is attached to the top of the axle. It appears that the brake line just rusted completely through. It is likely that all other brake lines could be affected in the exact same manner.

4 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2008

Continuous braking problems. I understand normal wear and tear, however I have had to replace my front rotors, calipers, brakes, emergency brake system on several occasions. For the last 5 months my abs & emergency brake lights come on and off during driving. I have had a GMC dealership (folsom GMC) and les schwab perform diagnostic checks to only tell me that I need to replace brake pads and calipers again due to wear. They have been unable to detect why the two lights come on. Last night on my way home the two lights came on again, this time I noticed a loud motor running, even when my vehicle was turned off the motor noise continued. Once I pulled the abs fuse out of the control box the motor stopped. I am taking the vehicle into have it serviced again. I would like to have your company perform an investigation on the antilocking system and brake system on these vehicles. In my research online I found others denali owners with the same vehicle brake/antilock system failures. . Read more...

5 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2008

I would like to report the catastrophic failure of the brake lines on my SUV. While driving home from work, the brake light on the dash illuminated, the breaks felt a little soft upon braking. Took it in to the shop for evaluation and was told that the brake lines from the abs to the rear breaks had ruptured. This occurred at 54,444 miles on Aug 16, 2007. Approximately 8 months later, the same situation happened, brake warning light came on and brakes felt spongy. Took it into the shop and was told that the brake lines from the abs to the front brakes had ruptured this time. This happened on 3/28/08 and 58,921 miles. All lines were fabricated and replaced. I have had no additional problems since the repair.

6 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2007

Checking for abs and brake light on. Replaced electronic brake traction control module.

7 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2006

Applied brakes on slight icey driveway, ebcm went out for good. Wheel speed sensor recall was just repaired just before this happened. $1250 to repair.

8 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2005

Abs light/brake light NHTSA campaign number: 05v379000 I called GMC as my vehicle is exhibiting symptoms of abs sensor failure. They said it will be Jan 2006 before recall begins, may be 11/2006 before letters go. They would not authorize dealer to look at vehicle or make repairs. My vehicle make/model/year show up in campaign announcement but they said that doesn't mean GMC has begun a recall.

9 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2005

I was driving home and my anti-lock brake light came on. I drove home and turned off the car but it did not completely shut off. The battery was disconnected at the advice of the dealer as to not cause further damage. The car was towed to the dealership to fix. The cause of the problem was the ebcm internal relay shorted out causing abs pump to constantly run. The part was replaced costing over $1200. This also caused damage to the battery so it was also replaced.
