1 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/31/2019

Happened two times yesterday. 2007 Yukon denali odometer: 191,707 engine hours: 1443. 9 first, stabilitrak control turned off and engine power was reduced illuminated on the message center of the dash board. Car would not accelerate above 20 mph. When I would try to push the gas petal there would be a shutter in the rear of the vehicle. I was able to put the car in park, turn it off and tried restarting. Same issues continued. I limped to my work a less than a mile away to try and figure out what was happening as I had myself and 4 kids in the car after trick or treating. I shut off the car and waited for a bit while I read online what was causing this. Upon restarting the car, it started working again as normal. Safety risk when you can't accelerate past 20 mph on a 45 mile per hour road. Second occurance was a few hours later. I turned the car on to leave and the same things happened, this time it was driving like I had lost my power steering and no engine power. Luckily, again, I was in a spot to pull off to the side, turn the car off and made it home okay. This car has a brand new engine. Upon reading here and some other things online it seems the stabilitrak has numberous reports of this same thing. Luckily I have been in a spot where it didn't become dangerous and I knew what to do based on reading here. I use my Yukon for work so can't have this happening and it's dangerous for myself, my kids and other drivers on the road if they happen to be behind me when it happens. Hopefully with enough complaints something can be done to fix this issue. I have included a pic of the symbol that illuminated on my dashboard when this happened.

2 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

2019 GMC Yukon denali. 6408 miles. Driving down the highway at normal speed a warning appears that says service power steering. Immediately lost power steering on the vehicle and by the time we got it to the off ramp the steering was completely locked in the straight position. Very fortunate that this did not happen on one of the many curved roads where we live. We had no warning.

3 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

I recently noticed that my spare tire was missing. I took it back to the sear auto center that has been servicing it. When they looked under the car they said that it was common for the Yukon spare tire cable to rust and snap off. So I lost the spare tire, spare wheel, and cable system to hold the spare under the vehicle. Not sure where or when it happened, but it was in the last 2 years. Just found out about this complaint service. Have also had to replace the brakes and rotors a number of times (an excessive amount), and have had to have the a/c unit repaired twice. The first time I was told that it had the wrong control head. Also, whenever I hit a bump I momentarily lose power steering.

4 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/26/2010

I have a 2005 GMC Yukon xl and was almost hit because I could not turn effectively. When turning right at low speed the vehicle loses power steering capability. When I took it in to be looked at the repair shop said there is a repair note that the car will do this and to put on a larger steering/hydraulic part to try to stop the loss of power but that it still might happen due to a design problem. I had my grandson in the car and 15yr and all could have been killed. The problem is still happening whenever you try to turn right.

5 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/29/2005

I took delivery of my 2003 GMC Yukon slt on 22 December 2003. It has chassis problems since it had 500 miles on the odometer. I have taken it to the dealership service department for the following chassis related complaints multiple times: front end vibration and highway speeds (50+ mph), steering wheel pull at all speeds, and sudden loss of power steering. In the past, gm service has aligned the front end, balanced wheels, replaced tires, replaced the power steering pump, and replaced the steering gear. Vehicle service history is available. The most recent loss of power steering occurred on 29 July 2005 at approximately 10:00 p. M. I was pulling out of a tubby's restaurant parking lot in clinton township, mi in an attempt to turn right onto garfield st. My attempted right turn failed as my vehicle steering locked mid way into my turn, causing my vehicle to go into oncoming traffic. I slammed on the brakes, put the vehicle in reverse to remove my vehicle from traffic, and wrestled with the steering wheel to turn right to get on the right side of the road. I had a near miss as there was traffic coming from both directions on a road with a posted speed limit of 45 mph. After the near miss, I realized that the vehicle had lost power steering, only to the right. I carefully drove the vehicle home. I took the vehicle to rinke pontiac GMC service on 1 August 2005 for service. The serve department said that I would have the pay for it since the warranty has expired.
