2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

The vehicle had a sudden loss of function 1. Road departure mitigation 2. Collision mitigation 3. Adaptive cruise control 4. Braking system the vehicle was in motion at speed of 10-40mph, with air temperature of 28-32 degrees and snowy conditions. Honda has repeatedly refused to investigate numerous, potentially sw/hw - related issues that have been manifesting themselves in other parts of the vehicle. What happened today was a new set of symptoms, but with much higher severity and no obvious precedent. I have already had to disable the lane departure and the collision avoidance systems on this vehicle due to their erratic behavior. However, in this case the messages that have come up (will attache photos) demanded that the vehicle be taken to the dealer and the errors and message did not go away upon multiple restarts of the vehicle. Upon arrival to the dealer, it was indicated to me that Honda is aware of some of the other issues I've been experiencing with the vehicle and still (months hence) does not have a fix, and that Honda has, essentially, been resorting to testing their vehicle on the customers, instead of more rigorous pre-release testing, instead choosing to use the dealers as a quasi-test/r&d department. The multiple safety system failure I experienced today is a pretty clear indication of that. I have filed another complaint with nthsa related to the other issues and would urge you to initiate a recall on all of the Honda Accords (and possibly odysseys and pilots as they share some of the sub-systems) for the 2018, 2019 and the coming 2020 models.

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

After being parked in a friends driveway for several hours I proceeded to open my car and drive home. First remote control would not open doors, after several tries it open the driver door only, upon turning ignition on a series of warning indicating the adaptive cruise control system automatically disables itself, all collision mitigation functions stop working, series of warning see pics appear on display to see dealer, all windows and truck will not function, turn signals and brake lights, rear view camera do not function, brake system msg appears on display. Turned off and on car with no success in restoring all functions as on two previous occasions. Drove car for 4 miles in this state felt it was dangerous for us and other drivers. This morning all has restored to normal. Called Honda dealer in el monte CA. Was told they did not know anything about this type of problem, was not able to book service call until middle of next week in researching online found Honda service bulletin 19-051 describing a software update to car modules to fix this problem. I believe that is really should merit a recall as it interferes with the safe driving of the vehicle. A recall will force Honda to inform its service dealers and instruct them on a prompt scheduling of required software upgrade to resolve this software defect affecting drivability of their flagship car.

4 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/06/2019

The adaptive cruise control will randomly stop working when I approach a car on the interstate. Usually this will happen 1-3 times per 100 mile trip. I need the cruise control and have discovered that if I pull over, turn the car off, then turn it on again the cruise control will function again. Pulling off on the side of an interstate or exit ramp is hazardous. Apparently some people are putting their car in neutral while still driving on interstates, turning the car off, then on again.

5 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

I was driving my vehicle at 25 when it started showing three warnings " collision mitigation system failure, lane departure system failure, adaptive cruise control failure (see your dealer). I called my local hnda dealership in reading PA. They said they have received alot of these complaints and they think they Honda sensing system just freezes in the winter. It only snowed 5 inches a day prior to this event. Basically they said it will go away once its bit warmer and they have no factory recall. All the dealership could repeat " we are sorry". I looked all over the internet and I found 100s of similar complaint. My question is why they are not fixing it? why there has been no recall? the failure of this Honda sensing system defeats the main reason I bought this car along with many others.

6 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

On a number of occasion, both on the highway and driving in town, the adaptive collision control system has signaled "brake" while abruptly applying the brakes even though there was no obstruction anywhere near the front or sides of my vehicle, in one case nearly causing the vehicle behind me to collide with my vehicle.

7 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/25/2018

While driving at highway speeds with acc (adaptive cruise control) enabled and lkas (lane keep assist) enabled and passing a car and another time an 18 wheel truck, the car suddenly and abruptly braked to slow down 5 mph. The road was straight and no cars were in front of me. This was a very dangerous situation because cars were behind me and they all had to react to slow down. T.

8 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

The adaptive cruise control in my car malfunctions in rain/sleet conditions during winter months. A layer of ice forms over the sensors, and the car suddenly accelerates or maintains velocity without noticing the vehicle in front. It takes a few more miles and minutes till the acc is disabled warning pops up.

9 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

Today I received a notice from Honda of important safety recall telling me that the driver's front air bag inflator in my car can injure or kill. The email instruction provided by Honda to contact Honda does not achieve contact; it seems to be provided as a cya provision instead of a bona fide effort to make my car safe.

11 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2011 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

My driver side visor is not working. I believe it to be a hazard. My mechanic said the toyotas had a similar problem. I did not see any recall notices for this problem.

12 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2011 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/21/2015

The sunroof opened on its own, while car was parked. It was during a snowstorm and extreme cold with high winds and below zero windchills.

13 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

During low speed driving (approximately 30-40 mph) and squeaking noise was emiitting from the right rear tire. Prior to this, the power steering warning light, anti lock brake warning light, anti skid warning light, all illuminated. When the car was diagnosed at dch Honda, temecula it was reported that the right rear wheel bearing was broken / falling apart. It was stated by the mechanic that the car would not be safe to drive until the bearing was replaced and that this was covered under the powertrain warranty. However, there was no previous notification (technical bulletins, recalls) on this issue. Drivers beware. The mechanic informed me that there was significant "play" in the rear wheel while attached to the hub. If the bearing came completely undone, the wheel could come off while driving.

14 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/13/2014

I went to pull my visor down and I heard a loud crack noise from the visor. The visor will not stay up anymore, just hangs about 2-3" from the ceiling of the car. Went to the dealer and they told me it's not covered under warranty even if it's only a year old.

15 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/09/2014

I bought this 2012 Honda Accord in late September 2014. In October, just a few short weeks later, my ac stopped cooling. I took it to a local mechanic and found there was a hole in the ac dryer. How exactly does a 2 year old car already have ac issues? after doing some research, apparently this is a design flaw because rocks can fly up in it and cause the hole. Honda will not cover the $800+ expense. Completely unacceptable. I owned a Nissan for over 5 years and never once had an issue or repair that was more than $200. Extremely disappointed in Honda and will not purchase another.

17 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

Trunk lid pops open shortly after driving off. . . Red light on dashboard comes on. . . I have to stop the car and close the lid manually same thing happens eratically in parked condition. . Have noticed trunk lid open after returning to the parking lot happens randomly but fairly often. . . . Have checked my key for proper operation. It opens the trunk lid after pressing for a second or so.

18 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

So far, no accident, but this trend to disable access to the navigation system while the car is in motion, even by a passenger is actually more dangerous than previously. It's highly distracting trying to use voice navigation and it always does not work very well. The alternative is to use a separate hand held gps or Smart phone, which can be potentially more dangerous and distracting. Has there ever been a controlled study that demonstrates disabling navigation access while driving is safer than the alternative? having used factory navigation systems for over 12 years, I strongly believe that disabling navigation systems while the vehicle is in motion is more dangerous, and represents a safety hazard if alternative routes are required in an emergency. For example, what if you are lost in a bad neighborhood, or someone is following you? you don't dare pull over and stop. I think this issue needs further attention.

19 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

While using the adaptive cruise control (acc) I was traveling at 75 mph. This system is suppose to reduce your speed when it sees another vehicle in front of you and then bring you back up to speed when the obstacle is no longer present. I was on a 4 lane limited access highway (2 lanes each direction). I was in the left lane. There were no cars in front of me but there was an 18 wheel truck about 150 feet in front of me in the right lane. We were approaching a left curve and on a slight incline to the curve. As we entered the curve the acc sonar detector saw the 18 wheeler in the other lane and disengaged the acc and applied the brakes, without warning. This brought my speed down quickly from 75. This is the second time this occurred in similar circumstances. The real danger here is that there was no reason for the car to brake; the sonar saw an obstacle in a different lane; had another vehicle been following me the surely would have been a crash. I am a former crash investigator. As such, I can tell you this situation will be problematic. Fortunately, the car gives you the option of using the acc or traditional cruise control - I have disabled the acc for safety concerns.

20 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/24/2014

Srs indicator on dashboard. Car needs this repaired before valid MA inspection sticker can be applied. Honda dealer repaired first "srs incident" driver's side seat buckle. Honda dealer declared problem fixed. Drove car home. 2 days later, srs indicator re-appears on dashboard. Took car back to Honda dealer. Honda dealer now says that car required new opds sensor. Approximate repair cost: just under $500. No mention of previous recall regarding this issue for all Honda Accords 2000-2001. Recall was extended to 10 years and 157,000 miles. Current mileage under 154,000 miles. Called Honda corporate offices. Both Honda dealer and Honda corporate unwilling to help. Can NHTSA help with getting Honda to abide by old recall? I never received a notice. I believe the srs repair from last week resulted in the current srs opds failure. I can see many angry Honda Accord owners on internet web sites. Add me to the list.

21 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

After getting the Honda Accord steering hose replaced due to overheating, I begin to hear noises and have steering issues. I took my car to the dealership and was told that I need to replace the rack and pion steering and the power steering pump. I believe that due to the power steering hose was the cause to additional problems to the steering.

22 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

Honda Accord ex-l 2014 will shut-off and coast to a stop if the "start push button" is pressed while driving. The car should be in park before pressing the start button has any affect !! while driving with the automatic transmission in drive, I placed my hand on my right knee and accidentally hit the "start push button" and to my surprise the car shut-off and coasted to a stop. I could not restart until I put the transmission in park. . Dangerous !! I was leaving my house with the automatic transmission in drive when my hand going to my right knee hit the start button, the car stopped!. Fortunately I was going less than 5mph so no accident. I spoke to the dealer and was told, that's the way it is - just like if you remove your keys while driving. However you can not remove your keys unless the car is in park and the key is turned from run.

23 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

Driver's car (left front) keyhole won't accept my key, electronically. I went to different auto services and have the same comments that most of the complaints were the same. I checked the internet, youtube. Com, many owners of the same make, model & year have the same issues and problems, even the Honda chat room help site. I thought this is an isolated problem, but it's not, if there is some ways that your company could do something about this matter/issue concerning the manufacturer's (Honda) defect issue, please let us know, we don't want to shoulder to expenses on their behalf. Thank you very much for your concern and looking forward to hearing from you the soonest and for the immedtiate response to repair the problem for the inconvenience that we are experiencing for a long time. I have tried cleaning the inside of the keyhole by air pressured and wd 40, nothing happened. I can insert the key halfway only and then it will stopped. All other keyholes are functioning well, except the driver's keyhole.

24 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2011 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/05/2013

Left front break fills like it's not breaking properly, makes a noise when breaking at all times slow or fast . I have call Honda for this issue and see if more people have complain about this and they said no one else had. I hope no one else has the same problem but if they do so Honda can do a recall to fixed the problem.

25 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/04/2013

During braking, as you are getting close to stopping the car, I feel little jerk before the car completely stops. This jerk is like couple of times and can be repeated. This probably due to improper abs system. If you move to neutral and then brake, this issue is non-existent. I suspect some electronic aspect with mechanical brakes creating this jerk.

26 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/30/2013

This car has push button start on and off. The engine can be cut off with car in any gear and it does not have to be in park. I left the car in drive on a hill and went to get out and the car was drifting forward. I bought this car for safety features and this is a great concern. Has collision ,lane change warnings and they are so low you can not hear them. I am 67 and my husband is 71 and this is not a safe car for our age group. Called Honda and the warnings can not be cut up and there is nothing can be done about car drifting if you do not put in park. Very disappointed.

27 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

I have noticed this problem for the past 2+ winters on my car. The first time it happened, I was going home from work on a cold winter night. I got the freeway and accelerated to 55 mph. I then set the cruise control (as I normally do in light traffic). I noticed that the car's engine was still revving a lot more than it should. I looked down and noticed that I was doing 70 mph. I immediately stepped on the brake to deactivate the cruise control. I continued to notice this issue all winter. I set the cruise at 40 mph and noticed that it went up by about 20 mph above the setting before it finally stopped accelerating and settled back to the cruise set speed (or close to it). In the warm weather this problem disappears.

28 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/29/2012

Vehicle lurked into on coming traffic causing vehicles to slam on brakes and a near miss on interstate 10. 3 or four vehicles had to go to the median, entering on-ramp headed west on i10. Not the first occasion this situation has happened.

29 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

Coming to a yield, was clear, accelerated vehicle in d4, vehicle did not move, rpms 2000,30 sec later gear engaged, spinning front tires, road was not clear at this time, had to apply emergency brake along with pedal brake to keep from hitting another vehicle. This was not a safe situation. This vehicle lurches forward when stopping, shifting hard. Not safe to drive.

30 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/11/2006

As I was coming to a complete stop, parking, the car sped up involuntarily. I kept pressing on the brakes, but it did not make any difference until the car was stopped by hitting a building. I was told that the dealer inspected the brakes while the car was at the body shop, and did not find anything wrong with them. The car was repaired, and I continued driving it. The involuntary acceleration occurred several times again, but I did not think anything of it because I was not coming to a complete stop, and it adjusted its speed again. Until. . . I had another accident eight years later due to none other than involuntary acceleration. See a separate complaint.
