1 Carrier/rack problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/28/2023

2017 Honda Accord ex-l infotainment system (radio) when using am/fm/xm starts to static badly and slowly drives to full crackling/static interference noise through all speakers in the system. Power on and power off do not change symptoms, only pull over and power car on and off. Cannot hear surrounding vehicles when driving, even with windows down. Difficult to concentrate and drive safely with the radio a maximum volume with static interference. I can supply numerous videos of me screaming over the noise while a passenger takes video of this interference. Please provide a method for me to supply video of this issue to fully understand how unsafe this can be to any driver including myself. There was no warning light or engine trouble lights. The problem is repeatable and my 45minute daily commute. I have had no accidents or damage that would result in this type of failure. Failure mode - unknown.

3 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/22/2021

Loud humming/whining noise occurs while driving at speeds between 35-50 mph. The only way to stop this ear splitting noise is to crack a window. According to the dealer, it is a known-issue with the automatic noise cancelling system in 2018 Honda Accords and later. Honda hasn't been able to fix this issue in over 3 years. It is extremely distracting to the driver, not to mention unsafe to have to drive with the window open in freezing temperature and rain. It happens to me almost every time I drive, especially in temperatures below 50 degrees.

4 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/05/2020

All lights in my dash came on, brake, engine, steering, collision, acceleration. I took it in to priority Honda and was told it was cracked spark plugs and it was fixed. I paid $260. Six days later same thing. Same dealership looked at it. Said it was fix, sent me on my way, but told me they would replace spark plug cover. Same issue happened again. Now back in the shop for a 4th time. Was told I had bad fuel injectors. Cost $1700, but I would have to pay $200 deductible. Probably is my car was brand new when purchased and I'm under 5yr, 60,000 mile warranty. So why am I paying anything if it is a powertrain failure and I'm under warranty. Please help. These incidents happen as soon as I started my car, and I took it straight to the dealership when it did. The last incident was December 5, 2020. Before that was twice in November but I would have to verify exact date based on when I took it to the dealership. This is the only place I service my car, and the customer service has been subpar. I couldn't even get a complimentary rental unless I paid out of pocket.

9 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/08/2020

I've had my windshield replaced 2 times on my Accord for cracks due to road debris hitting it in less than 3 years of ownership. I will have a 3rd replacement soon due to the same cracking / fragility of these windshields. These windshields are incredibly soft to the point that they pit rather easily from pebbles hitting at slow speeds. This is dangerous and Honda should offer a replacement on all 2018 Accords with stronger glass. Many online forums and social media channels with 10th gen Accord owners complain of the same issue with the windshields. They are unsafe and causing undue insurance premium increases because of how soft the glass is.

10 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/08/2020

Tension bolt snapped causing the belt to loosen and no power steering while I was driving, all this happend while I was on a highway was the scariest moment of my life having no steering power! also check engine light went on few months ago issue with oxygen sensor. I taught Honda is such a good car, this will be my last time buying a Honda. This car has cost me so much money and towing its rediculos. I read that people had issue with this and Honda only made that bracket 2 years becuase of issues why was there never a recall on this?.

11 Carrier/rack problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

I was driving down the highway when my sun/moon roof just shattered for no reason. There were no cars around me, and I did not go under any overpasses. The glass did not have any chips, cracks, or any damage from being on the road. It literally just exploded. I was lucky to have my sun roof cover closed, or I would have had the glass rain down on me while driving 65 mph on the highway.

12 Carrier/rack problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

Windshield stress cracks after 1 month of ownership on passenger bottom corner side starting from edge of shield glass. No rocks or other projectiles hit the glass. Online reports show that the same crack in the same general position are happening on these 10th generation Honda Accords.

13 Carrier/rack problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

Usually when the weather is colder say below 50 degrees fahrenheit, a loud hum emits from the speaker system with or without music on if I am going less than 40 mph. If I crack a window or the sunroof/moonroof or a window, the sound goes away too. I also don't notice the noise in the summer/warmer months here in the northeast nor do I notice the hum when I am traveling faster than about 40 mph, such as doing 50/55 on a highway. Some folks believe it might be part of active noise cancelation to drown out the sound of the engine in the cabin. . Read more...

14 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/20/2018

My car has cracks in the windshield located outside of the vehicle from both sides on the wiper blades trails. It has not been hit by a rock. I noticed it on two different occasions when I was using the wipers on rainy days. I was told by the glass repair shops that it was caused due to the heated wipers while it was cold outside. The vehicle was in motion and while driving in the rain to work the cracks appeared to travel longer on the windshield.

15 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/29/2018

When driving more than 25 miles in a day my steering wheel will stiffen up and then it will release with a jerking like motion ( almost similar to a rack and pinion issue in an older vehicle). It progresses throughout the drive making it difficult to continue the trip. Honda has been made aware of this and said it's the way the suspension is set up, however it shouldn't be stiffening up and jerking as it could cause an accident to happen. Honda is currently in possession of the Accord trying to determine if there's anything they can do. They've had the car for 17 days as of this posting. With all that said, I keep all the driving support features disabled. This steering issue happens on city streets and highways during the time of maintaining a certain speed from 25+ mph. It's quite scary to drive under these circumstances. The 2nd issue I've reposted since purchasing the Accord is I also have to keep the collision mitigation braking system turned off when as soon as I remember to disable it after each startup as I've had sudden stops by the car at a nearby railroad track and a highway sign that goes across a major highway in texas which I was going 45mph. Due to the fact it thinks there's something in front of me and stops the car. I've had whiplash twice from the cmbs system alerting the car to come to a complete hault. I've been fortunate that no one was behind at the times of these incidents, but one day I may not be so lucky.

16 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

Takata recall my windshield cracked by itself when I turned the car on , while sitting on my garage. And it has no chip on it like when rocks hit it I had only drove it twice only.

17 Carrier/rack problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

Takata recall? I bought this vehicle from my CO worker which stated these issues were already happening for months, firstly the cluster clusters instrument gages do not work (replaced them and nothing happens) , only the gage lights turn on. These include the gas gage, rpm, speedometer, temp. Which is another issue, the electrical issues even though you try to brighten the lights with the dim knob they are hardly brightened its hard to see the clock time or any thing that lights up to help see at night, the interior lights dont work, the horn doesnt work, cruise control doesnt work. As if all these are tied together thru the electrical wiring. (checked all fuses and replaced most) my wind shield leaks in the top corners, the trunk fills with water everyone it rains due to a leak. Defects in the sealing my rear view mirror fell off on my way to work today as well which caused the windshield to crack around where the mirror was. The hood latch is hard to close, I have to use pliers to push down the latch before shutting hood, (this is another part I replaced with the same factory part number) it looks to be the spring. Ball joints I am guessing. . . When barely turning the wheel either way you hear a grinding noise like metal against metal. Its a scary sound when making turns not sure if the wheel is you g to break off while making the turn a costly issue daily I have to add oil to the vehicle the oil pump gasket seal leaks every time the engine is running. Exterior issue the paint looks horrible due to the top clear coat peeling. Now after researching, I realize I'm not the only one who has these issues. Please get these issues fixed.

19 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

"takata recall" I started having issues with the car heavily vibrating when the car reached 60,000 which is a concern driving on the highway. If felt unsafe, I first brought it in while under warranty at only 30,000 miles, they said it was cracked seals in the steering rack. The car would shake uncontrollable, vibrate. They fixed it, again it happened at 55,000 miles, then again a few thousand miles later replacing the steering column. All under warranty, thank god I have the extended warranty but is this normal. Now I am fully out of warranty, it is beginning to vibrate again. This issue has been a headache since I got this make and model, never had an issue with another Honda. Just concerned that it will be an expensive issue that seemed to be a problem since early on. The car would be in motion, involvement was when reaching a speed of 55 or higher on the highway. It still vibrated at lower speed but became uncontrollable past that point and the car would veer to the right with a stiff wheel.

20 Carrier/rack problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

Since day 1, have had issues with a noticeable clunking noise while going over bumps. After 4 repair attempts at a Honda dealership that led to tightening of 'loose'(as per the mechanic and paperwork) nuts and bolts, adjustments of the rack, replacement of both front struts as well as replacement of the front steering rack, the noise continued. During the 5th repair attempt after meeting with an engineer from Honda as well as the Honda certified mechanic, the mechanic tells me that the subframe became unglued. The new design of the Honda subframe is now glued and not welded, in order to make the vehicle lighter and more fuel efficient. I am told by a Honda engineer that Honda tech line is now aware of this issue(which tells me there hsve been numerous complaints). Even after the entire subframe was recently replaced, I continue to have front end issues with my brand new car including creaking and vibration. I am currently working with a lemon law attorney and now have had 5 repair attempts on this vehicle. This subframe issue certainly is a safety matter and failure of such could lead to catastrophic accidents. This has and continues to be an ongoing problem. The 'glued' subframes in these vehicles should be investigated. Please note that this Honda is their top of the line 'touring' model which has additional suspension parts for a smoother ride supposedly. I have all of my documentation from the dealership should you require it.

21 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

Purchased 4 good year assurance comforted touring from good year store in citrus heights, CA in late 2012. Early in 2016 three tires started cracking on the sidewal . Took the car to shop, after inspection they found out tires has sidewall crack present in the sidewall. Tried to work with shop and they were ripping me off. Left the messages for john macaluso at 209-834-6377 and calls were not returned. Shop wrote wrong mileage on the invoices and telling me that we drove around 90k miles. Started cracks in sidewalls at 40k miles. Please help. I am driving the car on daily basis. Thank you.

22 Carrier/rack problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

When I purchased my 2002 ex Honda Accord in 2015; I thought I was getting a reliable dependable car. Honda is know for its reliability but little did I know that the whole sub-frame (front & back was fully rusted). My srs warning light comes on quite often. The a/c drain I strongly believe was installed improperly which causes the sub-frame to rust and crack. I bought the car with only 82,358 miles and purchased a extended warranty through Honda dealership which my powertrain only covered up to 90,000 miles. I had taken the car for its first oil change which was at 91,000 miles and all of a sudden I started to have powertrain problems. Even though on my bill of sale it stated as is Honda dealership knew that a customers such as myself would look under the body of the car. I went online and have read numerous complaints about the same problem I was having with this model & year. Also their extended warranty problem was an issue. Why is the federal government & states allowing Honda to sell a car with improperly installed a/c drain,sub-frame rotting & crack issues, transmission failure, defective seat belt sensor. I pray that no one dies from this vehicle. 1999-2002 models. I'm a mother of four with a non-curable disease and I just want my car to be fully repaired at the expense of Honda. Driving on the highway and turning is dangerous for me to be operating but this is my only means of transportation. My mechanic has to me I shouldn't have purchase this vehicle but I didn't realize that Honda would do there customers wrong like this just for a profit!!!!.

24 Carrier/rack problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

While traveling southbound on rt. 95 in delaware, the sunroof spontaneously shattered on my three month old 2015 Honda Accord. The sound was similar to a loud gun shot, followed by a crackling noise. The driver and passengers in my car did not see or hear anything hit the car roof, and none of the surrounding vehicles took any action that would have suggested something had fallen out of the sky. The sunroof shade was closed, so no glass entered the cabin. Price Honda in dover, DE, replaced the sunroof glass under warranty. The Honda dealership, where the car was purchased in marlton, NJ, (burns), was reluctant to acknowledge the possibility that the sunroof spontaneously shattered and even had the audacity to charge us for touch-up paint. A quick google search resulted in several news reports regarding this problem with many makes and models. Nhtsa should put auto manufacturers on notice about this defect and compel them to take action to ensure all sunroof glass is thick enough to eliminate future glass failure, which could result in severe accidents with fatal consequences. Thank you.

25 Carrier/rack problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/14/2015

Vehicle inspected by mechanic who determined that the passenger side of the engine cradle is corroded and will need replacement. Subsequent internet search indicates that this is a common issue prior to a design change in the 2003 model year. Spoke with manufacturer customer service rep (csr) who claimed that they have no record of ever having received a complaint about this issue, though NHTSA complaint ids 10668618, 10632816 and many others indicate that manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Csr stated repeatedly "there is nothing we (Honda) can do", but on further questioning agreed that it was more accurate to state "we [Honda] will not do anything about this". As Honda claims to not be receiving these complaints, a copy of this is being sent usps priority mail with tracking to ensure that they are aware that complaints about this issue are being lodged. Tracking #9505 5000 0753 5133 0002 72.

26 Carrier/rack problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

The right front axle suddenly failed while making a left turn at slow speed. The axle cracked in half at mid shaft at the location of the axle damper under which the axle had corroded evidently resulting in its failure. This suggests that water (and salt in our climate) can collect under the axle damper leading to corrosion and potentially catastrophic failure.

27 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/13/2014

I went to pull my visor down and I heard a loud crack noise from the visor. The visor will not stay up anymore, just hangs about 2-3" from the ceiling of the car. Went to the dealer and they told me it's not covered under warranty even if it's only a year old.

28 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/08/2014

2013 Honda Accord sport has had its trunk open by itself on multiple occasions. The trunk has never opened on it own while in motion but when it is parked. It is only discovered when I walk back to the car and see the trunk cracked open. This is a security/safety breach in my case as I sometimes will keep firearms in the security of the trunk leading to the potential of stolen firearms from an open trunk. I have not been able to determine the cause of the trunk randomly opening. This has happened to me at least 3 times throughout the ownership of the car.

29 Carrier/rack problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/11/2014

The ac rubber hose leaks water and drips on the sub frame causing the sub frame to rust out. The rust totally cracked the sub frame, which in turn, caused the suspension to the be loose. From what I have researched online, this has happened to hundred of consumers. My husband has made a video and has taken the steps to warn the consumers of a cars which were engineered so poorly, and could risk the lives of any one driving this model. I wonder who is in charge of safety for vehicles manufactured by Honda--the complaints from hundreds of consumers regarding the same issue dated way back 2009, but it seemed that neither Honda, nor the government did anything to address the issue. I hope you act, before people get killed due to this safety hazard. I will save this complaint and research Honda cars 1999 thru 2002 and when someone dies from this mistake will make sure the world weighs in through social media.

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

2010 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to a faulty design of vehicle key. The consumer stated when she turned the key in the ignition, it fell apart in her hand. The key came loose from its black plastic case. She noticed there was a crack in the case. She managed to put the case together again so she could use the key to drive home. She went to the dealer, where she was informed she would need a new key and a new case key. The rep in the parts dept. Suggested the key may have broken in her purse.

32 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/10/2014

After leaving my son's track meet, the a/c began blowing warm air. My husband went and bought refrigerant, and as he was putting it in, mist/smoke started coming from the front of the car. My husband took it to the mechanic and was told we needed to replace the a/c condensor. Apparently a pebble hit the condensor which now has a pin hole in it. Honda doesn't cover it and it's expensive to replace. There's too many complaints about this issue for there not to be a recall on it.

33 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/03/2014

Pulling into a parking space, stopped before I could put the car into park, the vehicle lunged forward into a brick wall before stopping. Prior to this incident on 4/28/14 the windshield was replaced due to a crack in the windshield after this the ldw (lane warning device) didn't function properly. 4/30/14 another windshield was installed and the ldw did not function properly. I was told to have the camera on the rear view mirror recalibrated, before I could have this service preformed the accident occurred.

34 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Honda Accord

35 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

After getting the Honda Accord steering hose replaced due to overheating, I begin to hear noises and have steering issues. I took my car to the dealership and was told that I need to replace the rack and pion steering and the power steering pump. I believe that due to the power steering hose was the cause to additional problems to the steering.
