My 2016 Honda Accord sedan air conditioning stopped working. The car has about 58,000 miles. I live in southern florida and driving without air conditioning can be very stressful and harmful to seniors. I am over 60 with many CO morbidities.

1. The apple car play freezes with the original apple lightning cable 2. The driver's door closes worse than the passenger door. I have to push the driver's door much harder to close it. 3. The issue with the air conditioner. I'm using auto 72 degrees and don't like to play with the ac. 30-40 minutes after warming up the car, the air from the left and right front grilles begins to blow with cold air, I feel cold air on my knees. If I manually change the direction of the air only to the face, then the air is blowing warm. If I return the air conditioner to automatic mode, I feel cold air again from the left and right front girls. 4. Still hear long loud humming sound while driving on highway 53 mph from the front doors speakers I assume, and short loud humming sound while driving in city around 28-29 mph. I suppose the active noise cancellation system working not properly.

In December 2019, my car air conditioner was making an unusal noise when being turned on. I took the car to the dealer and the technician there said that the air condenser was leaking. He added that it would be a >$1000 charge to fix this issue. At that time, because the weather was not too hot, the air conditioner was not a big issue so I did not fix it then. However, in June 2020, the air conditioner was blowing warm air and it was a hot summer so I had to pay >$1000 to fix it by the dealer. I saw the recall for Honda civic model of the same year being claimed for the same issue so I talked to the manufacturer, but they were saying that the recall does not apply to Honda Accord models. However, my brother, who has the same model of the same year, had the same issue so he had to fix the problem as well. I also have seen several similar cases with the air conditioner of the same model manufactured in the same year. I believe, just like the civic models, a thorough investigation needs to be performed about this issue. If you google "Honda Accord air conditioner', it is not difficult to find the issue. I hope my appeal prevents any unfortunate, unexpected and still unfair cost to the vehicle owners. This is an air conditioning problem so in summer this could be a safety issue. Please investigate this issue thoroughly. - owner of 2018 Honda Accord.
Upon inspection of this vehicle, part of the front subframe had rusted through, from the air conditioner condenser hose emptying on top of it. Attached photos show the extent of visible damage; other damage within this structure is not visible to the eye. Honda refers to this part as the "rear beam," part number 50200-s87-a00. The steering rack and front suspension components attach to this part, along with the rear engine mount, and can cause loss of control of the vehicle, and serious personal injury. This is a very common and very dangerous flaw in this generation of Accord.

Our 2014 Honda Accord had some road debris puncture a hole in the air conditioner condenser. From what I read on the internet there is a design flow that Honda has know about for the past 10 years. We spoke to the service dept of lia Honda , po box 1110, enfield CT 06083 and they said that the condenser was not covered by the extended warrantee that we purchased for $1340 when be bought the car brand new. Honda refuses to cover replacement and call it an act of god when debris flies up and put a hole in the ac condenser. I took the car to my mechanic and he replaced the part for $476 dollars. I prefer my mechanic because I know and trust him, and he does the work for half as much. Honda dealers are scamming their customers out of $800-$1000 to replace part that should be covered under warranty because of their design flaw. I am tired of being taken of advantage of by big companies and unless the government forces them to pay up, they will continue to stick it to their customers. I guess the only thing I can do is switch back to Toyota, and least the stepped up to the plate to deal with their rust issues. Hopefully, the more complaints you get, the sooner Honda will be held accountable. Thank you, ron marks, 570 buff cap rd. , tolland, CT 06084.

The air conditioner isn't cooling on the driver side. It appear to cool on the passenger side.
Subframe/cradle rusted through on the passenger side due to manufacturers routing of air conditioner condensation onto subframe. No damage/rust on drivers side where a/c does not drain. Around $400 in parts and over $700 in work.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the air conditioning hose drained on the front passenger side subframe, which caused the subframe to rust without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the frame needed to be replaced and that the failure was a common issue with Ford vehicles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 192,000.
Upon trying to accelerate, the engine hesitated then stalled. Upon restarting and attempting to accelerate, the engine surged forward. Driving on the freeway the engine lost power momentarily then reengaged. The a. C. /climate control is again not functioning properly, and the hands-free phone function disconnected multiple times. The car was taken the car to a Honda dealership approximately one week ago to have the air conditioning defect repairs completed. At that time they were unable to repair the trunk lid that has been falling down since I took possession of the vehicle in July 2014. The trunk lid falls at will.
Clicking noise was coming from front suspension area. Car was inspected by a local mechanic and stated that there was a water leak from the air conditioner condenser onto the passenger side of the front subframe. As a result, the subframe fractured on the passenger side. The mechanic stated that the subframe was rusted and fractured. The front subframe needed to be replaced. Mechanic stated that the car was unsafe to drive as it could have resulted in severe injuries/death. Contacted american Honda on 7-15-15 to get a goodwill repair since this is a common issue with other owners as a result of manufacture defect. Amal, the representative in the product concerns department stated that it is Honda's policy not to issue goodwill since the car is out of warranty and is 15 years old. Initial use of the automatic air conditioning system puts the passenger cabin into "air recirculation" mode in order to bring the temperature down as quickly as possible. Unfortunately it will not turn air recirculation off until the interior air temperature has reached the temperature asked for. This can take a long time. We have been told for years that it isn't safe to leave recirculation on for too long due to the possibility of dangerous exhaust gases entering the cabin. Recirculation can be turned off by pushing a button but having fresh air sooner seems safer to me.
I have been smelling gas periodically while driving. Initially, I thought it might have been other vehicles in close proximity, but now believe it might be my vehicle. This occurs when I turn on the air conditioner.
Upon being handed the keys to my brand new 2014 Honda Accord I noticed a lot of scratches near the doors. I thought it odd since it's a keyless entry car. The salesperson agreed that there shouldn't be scratches, and said those would probably come out, and offered me a courtesy "buffing. " after taking possession of my new car, I noticed a clunking noise when backing out of my driveway and pulling onto the street. I also noticed it took more work to steer the car than my other car which I bought new five years ago. I also noticed some tape on both sides of the front bumper that hadn't been removed. In addition, the trunk lid wasn't adjusted properly, so it continually falls down when I'm at the trunk area. Now I am wondering if my new car was not only not "detailed," but not properly inspected before "delivery. " furthermore, at 16,000 miles, it now has a constant popping noise in the driver's side of the front end. The air conditioning has also stopped working on the driver's side (dual climate control).

Driving down the road and heard a loud clunk coming from the front end of the car. After this noise, the car did not drive or steer properly. Upon inspection, discovered the sub-frame on the passenger side was completely rusted through. This sub-frame provides mounting points for major suspension components. Upon further inspection, the drivers side was not rusted at all. Even further, it was discovered that the air conditioner drain hose on the passengers side drains directly on to the sub-frame below where the excessive rust caused the sub frame to deteriorate.

Passenger side front subframe rusting out from poor design which has air conditioning condensate dripping on to this area of the subframe. The drivers side does not show any corrosion. I fear complete failure of the subframe and will either have to replace it or junk the vehicle. All because of a poor design issue.
The subframe of my 1999 Honda Accord ex has rotted through. This is located on the front passenger side near the strut assembly, presumably beneath the air conditioner drain, as noted by others on postings on the world wide web. The vehicle is in excellent condition otherwise, especially with very low miles (77,000 miles) I contacted Honda of America and they state that the rot is not covered by them. This will cost me $1800 to repair. There is no other rot on the vehicle and the vehicle only has 77,000 miles. My mechanic says it is unsafe to drive. It appears to be the result of a design flaw relating to the location of the air conditioner drain. Honda should be made to repair this unsafe situation.
My mother bought this Accord in 1999 with 102000 miles on it. It has been garage kept since and only driven 31000 miles. I took it to be inspected this month and was told that the subframe was completely rusted and would need to be replaced. I was also told that the suspension was barely holding to the subframe. I was advised not to drive it as the engine could fall out while driving or the suspension could pull loose. My mother is 89 yrs old and now her vehicle has no value. The passenger side is severely rusted. The air conditioning drain tube hangs directly above the frame and drips on it if the ac is running. There is absolutely no body damage or rust. The leather interior is perfect. And the vtech engine is perfect. What is she supposed to do at 89 years old, expecting her car to outlive her?!.

Traveled from baton rouge to dallas witha cold air condition and on the way back home from dallas. Once I got to opelousas no cold air, only heat blowing from the ac. Richards Honda dealership in baton rouge claims that a rock struck my condensor, caused the leak and the road debris is not covered under warranty. My car will be a year old from a new purchase next month, I travel in my car everyday to work and never had a problem with my car in nearly 30k miles, until now. Dealer cost $530. Honda should provide a protector on condensors to keep their ruputation regarding a reliable automobile, pay 100% of the fees or at least 75% as Honda should rectify this ongoing problem by offering a protector at no cost to the customers and immediately repairing the condensor at no cost to the customer within their first year of ownership, minimum. It's extremely hot in louisiana and I need my air condition to work properly while I travel to work and pay my monthly note on time. I expect this ac to last much longer than 11 months and nearly 30,000 miles.
Honda's reply to my complaint below / $250 gift card was an absolute "slap in the face" to me as a so called "appreciation for my Honda loyalty" and not recognizing this engineering defect! I'm now even more disgusted with Honda and I plan to do everything in my power to warn others. I've recently read where a class action lawsuit was recently settled for a similar problem w/Honda civics, odysseus & an Acura model. Honda recognized / admitted to this similar design flaw only after they were forced to do so. Absolutely shameful!!! exerts from my 8/25 letter to Honda below; dear sirs, I wanted to make you aware of an occurrence I just experienced with my 2013 Honda Accord I just purchased (6/10/2014). My air conditioner stopped cooling on fri, 8/22/2014 after leaving work. After I returned home from a sweltering 45 mile commute, I immediately notified the local dealership and scheduled an appointment on sat, 8/23. As my 2013 certified Honda Accord was still under warranty (I purchased 74 days early), I was sure the problem would be covered @no cost to me. I had even purchased Honda'¿¿s extended warranty on 6/10 even though ive never experienced repair problems with my purchases in the past. I was told ¿¿road debris had damaged the condenser due to its lack of protection, all of the freon leaked out, the condenser would have to be replaced and it would not be covered under warranty. The condenser cost was $168. 00 while with installation cost was $400. 99! after all of my research online it appears this is a ¿¿wide-spread design problem and Honda is actually making money off of the defect by charging outrageous service fees to fix the problem. It disgusts me to think this could happen again and again!.
Pebble damage to air conditioner condenser causing lose of refrigerant. Air condition system no longer functions.
The air conditioning does not cool like it should. We have the same issue with our Honda odyssey.
I was driving down my road and notice my car keeps stalling between 3rd and 4th gear, if I hit the brake it stops and I can go on. I took it for recall last year and it started doing better but last month it is stalling and jerking at speeds between 30-45. It seems to be getting worse. Also my driver side window when I try to roll it up without holding the button it will go all the way up and then roll back down. I also have problems with the air conditioner blowing hot air on the drivers side if I turn it all the way down to where it says lo and a few minutes later turn it up to what it is set on then it will blow correctly for a day or two, sometimes a couple of weeks but having to keep doing this defeats having climate control option.
A loud, clunking sound began when I would go over uneven road or bumps in the road. This was followed by that loud, clunking noise appearing when I would turn the vehicle to the left and when I would go over bumps. Finally, the loud, clunking noise was heard at all times driving, only coming from the passenger side. When my mechanic, who specializes in foreign cars, inspected my car he said the rear subframe on the passenger side was rusted almost completely through and was knocking on the rest of the frame/beam on that side. He indicated that the air conditioning drain tube is directly above this spot. When I asked how the subframe looked on the driver side, my mechanic replied that it looked good as new. I conclude that normal wear and tear and weather elements could not be solely responsible for such rusting on one side of the vehicle - that rust damage would be on both sides. I believe that the location of the a/c drain tube is majorly responsible for this damage and should be paid for by Honda ($1500-$2000 estimate). I am extremely concerned about the my safety while in my vehicle now and need to repair this soon as I am afraid it will completely fall apart soon and very likely cause a crash. I do not see any recalls of the 2002 Honda Accord, but many complaints for the very same problem - which was fixed on later model Accords.
Air conditioner condenser damaged due to road debris. Vehicle design is poor leaving the condenser unprotected from road debris. Grill opening is large with no screen or mesh in front of the condenser. Repair cost is $786. Honda should include protection of the condenser in its design and perform recall to add protection. Owners who have repaired damage should be compensated the cost of the repair.
I was not involved in an accident but I have a serious air conditioning problem. I purchased a used 2006 Honda Accord 6 months ago during the winter months. As soon as we had our first warm spell I realized that the ac is defective. The driver side is blowing hot air. The passenger side is blowing cool, air-conditioned air. The Honda dealership that was "repairing" my air conditioner, said the air was much cooler now but that it would always be cooler on the passenger side than the driver's side because there is a "chiller" on that side. Why in the heck don't they have a chiller on the driver's side too?!! all automobiles have a driver! I just picked the car up after paying $168. 15 to find it is no better than when I took it in. My extended warranty did not cover any of the repair, which was a valve replacement on the lo side, the replacement of a high side shreader and an evacuate & recharge. Frustrated, I came straight home and researched my concerns online. What I found was very concerning and irresponsible on the part of Honda. There are multiple websites with nearly identical complaints just like mine. It appears the condenser is not protected from road debris and can be damaged quite easily. If Honda is well aware of this design flaw they owe it to their buyers to recall this expensive repair. Warranty doesn't cover the repair, but if we as the buyers put a guard/cover over the condenser to protect it the warranty is void. We can't win for losing. I have owned four Honda vehicles over the last 12 years and I'm so upset that they are not standing behind their product(s) more than this. I will likely never buy another Honda.
I own a 2001 Honda Accord lx that I purchased new from a Honda dealership in may 2001. The front passenger side sub frame has rusted through. The driver side sub frame has not rusted in that manner. In checking further, the air condition drain hose/outlet drips directly on the front passenger side sub frame and is the source of the rusting condition that only exists on that side. I no longer feel it is safe to drive this vehicle and believe others may be operating their 1999-2002 Honda Accords without knowledge of this dangerous passenger side sub frame issue. Honda should be required to alert registered vehicle owners of this issue and also take corrective action to make the vehicles safe again to operate.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the air conditioning tube failed and as a result, the air conditioning fluid leaked onto the sub-frame causing the frame to corrode. The contact stated that due to the failure the fuel tank and fuel lines needed to be replaced. The sub-frame was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 114,000.
Air conditioning stopped working just after factory warranty ended. I called Honda service center immediately, they wanted to charge me $100 to even look at my car. They made no mention of being flexible even though I explained my situation and they knew it was over 110+ outside. I went to an independent shop to get my car fixed fast and had to pay a substantiate amount of money out of pocket. When I called Honda to complain about the ac dying after 4years they back peddled stating that if I had taken the car in to Honda, they would have waived the $100 fee and fixed my ac free of charge. This is a serious issue.
