36 Air Conditioner problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/25/2010

The air conditioning on my 2005 Honda Accord stopped working. . . Took it to a mechanic and he said after trying to recharge the system that the condenser had a puncture on it. Upon researching this mishap I find that quite a few other people have had this kind of thing happen to them because the condenser is not protected. . . It is completely exposed and can be damaged quite easily. . . Honda should provide a retrofit. . . . Maybe a screen of some type. . . And reimburse drivers of their vehicles for the cost of replacing the condenser. . . . .

37 Air Conditioner problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

Air conditioning has failed on 2006 Honda Accord with 43,000 miles. Dealer says the problem is due to a leaking condenser which will cost $700 to replace. The condenser is in a very exposed position in the front grill and has no protection whatsoever. It is very prone to damage from road debris. This is very poor design as there is no protective mesh. This is a design fault which is costing Accord owners a great deal of money. It should be fixed under a recall!.

38 Air Conditioner problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

Air conditioner in 2009 Honda Accord won't work. Brought to dealer and they say a rock hit the condensor which is located in front behind the openings in the bumper without any screen or protection. They do not cover in warranty and we have to file with our insurance which may raise the cost. Someone my husband works with has the same year Accord and this has happened twice to them and Honda will not cover. Seems to be a design flaw which is costing consumers and their insurances money.

39 Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

My air conditioning stopped working in June of 2010. When turned on, warm air came out. When I brought it to the shop to diagnose the problem, I was told that there was a hole in the air compressor and the unit required replacement to fix. The damage, as stated by the repair technician, was caused by "a rock or something" that was kicked up from the road while operating the vehicle, and made a hole in the compressor. The hole cannot be repaired, therefore, the compressor requires replacement. The estimate given for the repair was $1,044. The technician indicated that there was nothing protecting the condenser unit from being hit by road debris, and it is absolutely a design flaw on the part of Honda. If someone is unable to afford the repair cost, this becomes a health concern. When I was driving to a doctor appointment 1 hour away in July on a 98 degree day, I suffered mild heat stroke from having to drive for an hour on the highway with the sun beating down on the car and the heat rising up from the hot pavement and surrounding vehicles on the road. I had to seek an alternate route home using back roads shaded by trees in order to avoid suffering from heat stroke again, and this caused a major inconvenience as it took me 2 hours to get home. It is apparent that this issue has been recurring in Accords since at least the early 2000's, and Honda is being negligent by not addressing it. This is a definite design flaw that Honda should address with a recall, as it is my understanding that the simple addition of some type of screen can remedy the situation and save a lot of trouble and costly repair bills for the consumer. What is most disturbing is that this design flaw poses a health risk for certain individuals in certain situations and, for this reason more than any other, it should be brought to Honda's attention immediately.

40 Air Conditioner problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

Foul smell emitting from air conditioning vents since I have owned the car. Never have been able to eliminate it. A Honda repairman told me that it is a known (to Honda) design flaw in the air conditioning unit which causes water to pool in the unit causing mold. Hence the foul order. Honda refuses to fix the problem.

41 Air Conditioner problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/05/2009

Air conditioning stopped working after 12000 miles. Dealer determined that ac condenser had a hole from a impact. Told that this is not a covered repair.

42 Air Conditioner problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/20/2009

Ac condenser failure. Which stops working air conditioner and defrosting. A pebble or something can hit the condenser and make a hole. Mfr don't want repair it during warranty period or can offer any remedies to prevent it from happening.

43 Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

While sitting in traffic the first two times the air conditioning has gone out on the car. It has been repaired by Honda under warranty three times and has now gone out a fourth time. It has been taken to a dealership and hooked up to a machine and found no problems showing. Possible problem has been given as parts broken loose and lodged in the unit itself.

44 Air Conditioner problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/29/2008

I own a new 2008 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. It has approx. 5,000 miles on it. The air conditioner has been working great. We get in our car to go and the a/c is blowing hot air. I call the Honda dealer, we set up an appointment to carry the car in to have it checked out. They find that the condenser has a small hole apparently caused by a rock while driving down the road. This is considered a road hazard and therefore not covered under warranty. What is this condenser made of????? why-how- could this happen? how could a rock put a very small hole in this condenser? I think Honda has a problem with this condenser. Something is not right here!!! I have some questions about this being a road hazard. How many more times is a rock going to put a hole in this "thin" made condenser??? how many more times can I afford this to happen??? they charge me $98 for a diagnostic fee because this problem is not covered under warranty, otherwise it would have been free. They wanted to charge somewhere about $750 to replace the condenser if we file under our insurance and after the mechanic talked to someone else higher up, they decide if we do not file insurance, they will give me a break and charge me $279. Do I file under my insurance and risk the chance of my insurance going up more or do I pay the $279? after deliberation, I chose to pay the $279. (I already have 2 teenagers on my insurance!!) they have to order the part and it won't be in til next week and then I will have to make another appointment to spend the day at the shop while my vehicle is repaired. My brand new car with no a/c and I live in louisiana. It's hot here people. It's July!!! this situation is making me even hotter!!!!!! like hot under the collar!!!.

45 Air Conditioner problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/22/2008

I had to split up my complaint because of the size restriction on the description field. In addition to the ignition coil problem described below I have also had problems with the srs system, abs system, wireless entry system, air conditioner, and the auto door locks (all of which are described in another complaint). For a long time the tachometer behaved randomly. It would surge then fall to zero. For periods of time it behaved normally. There was no pattern to the behavior. Initially the engine performance was nominal. Over time the engine began surging and stalling, not necessarily in rhythm with the tachometer, nor exhibiting such behavior when the tach was acting up. Again there was no obvious pattern. Finally the check engine light came on referencing a transmission code that referred to the ignition coil. Interestingly once the code was cleared the check engine light when out and did not illuminate for some time. The next time it illuminated it eventually turned itself out. I finally took the car to the detailer. The dealer said that the ignition coil was not talking to the tach and the computer could not read the engine idle speed. Consequently it was recommended to replace the ignition coil as it evidently had an electrical failure. I am still researching this problem, but it appears that other owners have had experiences with their 1997 Honda Accords' engines surging and stalling and in some cases causing accidents. This is definitely not safe and definitely unacceptable. As I mentioned before, I am through with Honda!!!!!.
