2017 Honda Civic ex hatchback. 22371 miles. Rt. Frt. Pass. Air bag will not deploy in event of accident due to " Smart design ". Per Honda dealer, seat sensor is not detecting weight threshold when anyone sits who are not heavy enough. My wife is 5' 4" & approx. 117 lbs. I am 5' 5" & approx. 115 lbs. Neither one of us can sit & turn off srs off warning. Also per dealer this is a safety design as if airbag deploys the force can injure or worse the person sitting there if not of correct weight. My wife will not be protected at any time she sits in front. Dealer advised that seat be moved far back as possible or have her sit in the back seat. Also, the seat side air bag and/or side curtain system should still provide some protection. Otherwise, no trouble code (s) are present & system operating normally & within design parameters. Not comfortable with my wife being unprotected in event of incident & she is not looking forward to being required to sit in the back seat.

The vehicle sustained significant front end damage, resulting in loss of the front bumper, damage to the hood and to the front engine components, including leaking of window washer and transmission fluids. 64 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

The srs light intermittently comes on display on the dashboard. Honda dealership ran a diagnostic test twice and determined it was a faulty cable reel. The car has never been in a major accident and has never had an airbag deployed. Honda explained that the cable reel is a "bad part", and quoted repair estimates at 700 dollars for part and service. Honda warned that there is a 50 percent chance that the airbag will not deploy in the event of an automobile accident. Honda company refuses to cover the cost and service of replacing the cable reel due to expired warranty for airbag parts (2-year warranty). After much research, it appears that many Honda automobiles (especially Honda Civics manufactured around 2009) are having the same issue. This is a critical safety issue and liability for the company to sell cars and advertise their products as durable, when in fact safety features become faulty after a few years. It is concerning that Honda is selling and marketing products with compromised safety systems that become defective after a couple years of use. I have filed a complaint through Honda, and I would like to have the issue investigated by NHTSA.

70 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/02/2017

I have this airbag light on with intermittent on/off for some time and now is constantly on. The problem is not only the airbag light on also, which I believe it's more critical, is that it's not sensing any person seating on the passenger seat and not detecting seat belt not click on and airbag will not deploy on passenger side if there is a crash. Honda is asking me to replace the complete seat for $ 2,600 (if I were to trade my car for a new one they probably don't give me not even $ 5,000 for my car. I'll wait when this problem is covered by a recall. Hope this complain helps to speed it up.
