Front Air Bag Problems of Honda Civic - part 2

Front end collision, significant damage to car, smoking and fire truck at scene. Driver taken out on backboard with neck brace in place by ems personnel and taken to the emergency room. No air-bags deployed. Report filed with Honda. Currently, investigation taking place to see why air-bags didn't work.

Contact owns a 1997 Honda Civic. While driving approximately 20 mph applied the brakes and the driver and passenger airbags deployed prior to an impact. The deployment of the airbags caused an accident because the driver could not see the vehicle in front of her. This vehicle had not been in any previous accidents. She purchased the vehicle from an individual owner, so she did not contact a local service dealer. The manufacturer stated that this type of occurrence could not have happened. The consumer no longer owned the vehicle.

The left and right air bags went off inadvertently while driving. Driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crashed into a sewer drainage hole. Driver sustained minor injuries, and went to the hospital on her own. The vehicle was towed.

While driving 30 mph both frontal air bags inadvertently deployed. This caused the driver to sustain minor injuries , and was transported to a hospital. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The cause had not been determined at this time.

(1) normal driving of my 1997 Honda Civic 4 door dx (2) the srs light is now illuminated and has stayed illuminated for the last year - this means my airbags don't work. - dealer checked it out ($90 charge) and said that my srs unit is completely dead and can't tell me why - car has never been wrecked - no problems with it other than this defect (pretty huge defect). (3) I've lodged a couple of complaints and never heard anything back on them. Several people post to message boards with same problem - this is an issue that needs to be addressed - I can't afford to buy a new car and am currently riding in a dangerous one because of defective equipment. Cost to fix this is > $1000. . . Please help.

While driving 35 mph, the vehicle collided with a horse. Upon impact, the air bags did deploy. The driver and passenger sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.

(11/09/05) the front airbags malfunctioned causing the consumer to lose control of the vehicle. (the vehicle was declared a total loss).

While driving between 35-40 mph, the consumer rear ended another motorist. None of the frontal air bags deployed upon impact. The driver and the passenger hit the windshield. The passenger sustained a cut to her head that needed stitches.

While driving between 40-45 mph vehicle went over a dip in the road. This resulted in both frontal air bags deploying. Driver sustained hand bruises and burns from the contents in the air bags and when it deployed. Also, air bags cracked the front windshield. Vehicle found currently at a body shop.

During vehicle inspection dealership informed the consumer that front passenger air bag module cracked. The problem was not resolved.

My parents were driving in a 2001 Honda Civic in cleveland, ohio. They were driving on icy roads on freeway and car next to them lost control, slamming both cars head on into concrete wall median. The air bags never went off. Then the car kept spinning and slid across road and hit guard rail on other side of road and again the air bags never went off.

I bought a brand new 2002honda Civic. The car came with frotnal air bags. I had an auto accident on 12/14/03, lost control of my car on blackice and I was going 25 mph on I-495 eastbound (Lincoln tunnel/kennedy blvd exit). My car crashed frontally into the guard rails of the highway. I had my seat belt on, but surprisingly the air bags did not go off. I was surprise that the air bags did not work, and make me think that if I would have been driving at a higher speed, I could have been injured severely. I know that these air bags are suppose to work at an impact at a minimum speed of 10 mph and if the crash is frontal. I am currently going for therapy since I ijured my neck, shoulder and back due to the impact of the accident.

I bought a new 02 Honda Civic ex. On Aug 31 03 it had been raining and I looked down for a moment and when I looked up I was on the edge of the road jerking my car back onto the road my car slid impacting a mailbox on my passenger front side then preceded to flip several times. Neither airbag deployed (I was told due to the first impact was not to the front). While flipping my seatbelt released me throwing me out of the driver window landing face firstin the middleof the road. My injuries my left arm was severely burned doctors conclude my seltbelt wrappedaround my arm due to the flipping the seatbelt cut my arm 3/4 of the way almost amputatingit. I went through 6 surgeries and now have radial nerve damage and limp wrist. I can not extend my fingers and will never be able to. I also broke that arm having an external cast since my arm was cut. I fractured my front & back hip on my right side, my left pelvic bone and the left front hip bone. I spent over a month in the hospital. I was determined at 25 disabled! I was told by attorneys the wreck was my fault so therefore my car malfunctioning and my injuries received was my fault to deal with it. Which I have and will from now on. I hope one day someone will do something about what has happened to people. The wreck was my fault, but the injuries ireceived was not!.

Noticed that the srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the srs unit needed to be replaced.

The vehicle was involved in a head-on collision traveling approximately 30 mph, but neither the driver or passenger air bags deployed.

I was involved in a head on collision at about 25-35 mph with another car. The other car's air bag deployed but mine did not. The whole front end of my car is damaged.

While turning left at 15 mph, red light runner moving at 40+ mph hit the left driver side of car, turning it completely around causing substancial front end damage ($5000+). Driver and passenger sustained slight injuries while no airbag(s) deployed.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision while traveling 60 mph. Neither the front driver nor passenger air bag deployed.

Consumer stated vehicle was involved in a head-on collision at approximately 35-40mph at time of impact. Neither the driver or passenger front air bags deployed.

While traveling about 50mph on the highway without prior warning. Another vehicle made a sudden stop and she hit the vehicle from behind. The dual airbags didn't deploy at all. Please provide additional information, dealer is aware of the problem. Ph.

While traveling at 70 mph, consumer states the vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer on the front drivers side. None of the vehicles airbags deployed. Please provide any further information. Ts.

I was a driver in a 2002 Honda Civic lx. I was in a corner to corner crash. My airbag deployed. The airbag was overinflated. The car was totaled.

The vehicle was involved in an accident while the consumer was riding as a passenger. During the accident the air bag deployed and released violently. As a result, the passenger suffered serious injuries.

Consumer states that while driving at 50 mph the consumer was involved in a head on collision with another vehicle and none of the front air bags deployed. Contacted dealer. Mr.

Car impacted head-on to jersey wall at 50 mph, followed by imact on passenger side. Car totaled. No airbag deployment.

The consumer was involved in an accident and none of the air bags deployed. The consumer's vehicle was struck by another vehicle which was traveling at 45 mph. The driver sustained a broken sternum and has experienced both jaw and eye problems since the accident. The passenger had a contusion to her right leg from the glove box and suffered neck problems.

While driving 25 mph vehicle was hit head on, and neither airbag deployed. No injuries, damage to vehicle unknown.

Vehicle was involved in a rear end collision, it forced vehicle into a 360 degree turn, and head on collision into a concrete barricade. Vehicle swung around again, and neither air bag deployed. Feel free to provide any further information.

I was involved in a rear end collision that pushed me into the car in front of me. I was stopped at an intersection along with the car in front of me. We were both stopped turning left. Upon inpact none of the airbags deployed. I had serve brusing from the seatbelt. My front selt (driver side) was broken becouse the impact was so harsh.
