2011 Honda Cr-v exl. Consumer writes in regard to vehicle airbag failing to deploy causing injuries.
Tamara recall. . . On may 26, 2019 we were traveling down from our mountain home in sequoia mountains above porterville. It was starting to snow at 4 pm. Going between 10 and 15 mph, rounding a curve, in low gear the car lost traction went down a 200 foot embankment. Smashed head on more on the passenger side, into a large boulder the car flipped on its driver side and landed in a creek. The front airbags did not deploy, side airbags did however. My wife and I suffered injuries she suffered a fractured sternum, I suffered a lower fracture in my vertebrae. From the impact of the car I would have thought at least the driver side front airbag would have deployed, it did not, and if they had I'm not sure my wife would have suffered the injuries she did.

I had just returned from the grocery store with one of my daughters. We pulled into my driveway and my 2015 Honda Cr-v ex-l was stopped and my foot on the brake. My car was at a complete stop with the engine running. Before I could put the car in park, the engine suddenly revved up to a very high rpm and lunged forward. Even though my foot was on the break, I was unable to stop the vehicle and the car ran of two different sets of bushes before running into the southeast corner of my house! the driver's side air bag deployed. My daughter was in the front passenger seat and (maybe luckily) her air bag did not deploy. The airbag may be a tanaka airbag. I hit my airbag with such force that the air began to smoke. My daughter's was injured and she suffered a very bloody nose when her head hit the dashboard. I suffered bruises to my abdomen. The force of the crash knocked the plaster off the inside of my kitchen and threw it 10 feet. The studs were knocked off the moorings. Because my house was built in 1929 studs did not brake and the damage was only cosmetic. It is likely that the car is totaled and there will be significant costs in repairing the house.

Takata recall- our 2010 Cr-v was involved in a 3-car accident on a city road with speed limit of 35 mph. A car entering the city street from another road cut off the driver traveling on the road in vehicle #1 and v#1 came to an abrupt stop. The car that entered the road, sped off and was not hit by v#1. Vehicle #2 rear-ended v#1. Our vehicle (v#3) rear-ended vehicle #2. There is significant damage to the front end of our Cr-v. We are concerned that the driver's airbag was not deployed. The police officer called to the scene also commented that he was surprised that the airbag did not deploy. Thankfully, our daughter did not hit the steering wheel, but the force was significant enough that we are concerned that this airbag is not functioning properly. We were not aware of any recalls on these airbags until we received notification in the mail literally the day following her accident. We would like the airbag replaced in case something should happen in the future. We do not want to have our daughter driving in a car with known defective airbags.

The damage to driver side front end damage is such that I am unable to open the drivers door or drive the vehicle safely without repair. I do not understand why the airbag system failed to deploy.
