I had been driving for approximately 30 minutes. As I drove along I-575 - a 4-lane highway - I noticed a kind of power surge from my engine. My speedometer registered 80 mph! I applied the brakes but was unable to slow the car more than 20-30 mph, and then it started to creep back up. I exited at that point, knowing I needed help. I was still going much too fast. I looked for a service station and not only was there none, within seconds I was faced with a red light with 4 lanes of cross traffic (george busby parkway) - I couldn't stop the car! so I took it off the road in a controlled crash, going over the curb, 6 or so feet of grass, a huge hedge, and crashed into a very tall, mature crape myrtle. Thank god the car finally stopped. I was fortunate the crape myrtle consisted of multiple trunks rather than being an oak or similar. The crape myrtle managed to dissipate the impact of my car and I only sustained a broken wrist. The air bag did not deploy. My insurance company is charging me with driving out of control!!!!.

On June 12th, 2017, I passed out while driving and hit a parked pickup. I was traveling at 50-55 mph when I crashed. My car pushed the pickup backwards 33'. The pickup pushed the car behind it 8' then that car was pushed backward into another car. My car and the pickup were totaled. My side airbags did not deploy. I was severely injured. I sustained 5 broken ribs, my left wrist was broken along with a bone in the same hand. I had a large hematoma on the left side of my neck and a baseball size hematoma on the left side of my abdomen. Most of my injuries was from the seat belt. There was an abrasion across my neck. The muscles in my right chest were pulled. Also the muscles around my right breast and under my right arm were pulled. On July 3rd , I had surgery to remove the hematoma on my left abdomen. It was athe size of two fists. I have worn a wound vac since the surgery and have 2-3 weeks to go. I received a blow to the top of my head. I had a. Rise on my forehead and along the bridge of my nose. I believe the side airbags should have deployed. My injuries would have been significantly less had the airbags protected me. I'm requesting that you investigate who made the parts for the airbags and why did they not work.

Honda replaced both the drivers and passenger front airbags. I was in an accident April 2017. I was broadsided, drivers door was impacted. My head went hrough the drivers window. None of the side airbags inflated. The body shop was disturbed that the airbags did not deploy. I have been in physical therapy since the accident. The va has been supplying medical treatment. Honda denied responsibility although they never saw the car. My insurance company progressive will not repair the faulty airbags because they were faulty before the accident. Westport Honda where I originally purchased the car is not interested in taking it as a trade in because of the known airbag problem. What am I supposed to do? I'm afraid to drive the car. I can't sell the car without revealing the known problem with the airbags. The dashboard display light comes on without warning indicating the side airbags are not working. The indicator is off most of the time. I never know when it's going to come on and how long it's going to be on. Honda indicated to me that the system needs to be tested at my expense. I am disabled and can not afford to have this done. Or able to travel to such a facility.

We have replaced the defective takata airbag in August 2016. The vehicle has the new airbag now. We were involved in an accident on Dec 6th 2016. My vehicle was not moving at a traffic light our vehicle was hit from the rear end by a chevy truck that is travelling at approx 30miles per hour because the other driver failed to stop on time. Due to the impact of the crash from the rear, my vehicle was jerked frontward and hit the vehicle in front of my car. The vehicle is badly damaged at the rear and is also damaged on the front. My wife who is driving my vehicle was badly injured. The new air bag did not deploy. She smash her face onto the steering wheel. She has a cut on her left eyelid and half her face including her left eye is swollen now. My friends and I have a question. After being hit at 30miles per hour from the rear, why is the newly replaced air bag not deployed? we were hit from the back at approx 30 miles per hour and we also hit the car in front of us.

"takata recall" - on Nov 19, 2016, I had an accident. I was going down a sandy dirt road and heard a loud pop or bang (ended up being the stabilizer bar broke) and suddenly the steering wheel was jerked to the left, slamming the car into a ditch where there was a full embankment. I was slung to the left, hitting my head on the drivers side window, while at the same time the side curtain airbags and the side seat airbag deployed, bouncing me back to center. To my shock and wonder the drivers side, steering wheel air bag never deployed, which has concerned me every since the accident.
Takata recall - air bag did not deploy - I was traveling west on the us 60 freeway in mesa, arizona and was driving in the right lane of a 4 lane freeway, traveling 65 mph. A car driven by a young lady, realized that she missed her exit and came from the car pool lane, on the far left side to try and get off on an exit called dobson road. According to the witness statements she had to speed up to pass everyone to try and get off on the exit she was going to miss. As she cut across, I just happened to be driving past that exit and while she was going 75 to 85 mph, she hit me on the driver's side door. At the last second, I noticed something out of the corner of my left eye and turned my head and that is when she hit me. The next thing I remember is trying to get out of my car, but I couldn't because the door was smashed in, right where the hinges are. She hit me in a strong part of the door. Evidently, after she hit me her car pushed me into the wall of the on ramp. I don't really remember what happened between the time I turned my head, until the time I was trying to get out, to no avail. The side airbag and the front airbag never went off. The airbag on the passenger side, the side that hit the wall, did go off. I am lucky that the car did not roll over, but I think it was the wall that prevent that, because the wheels on the passenger side were at a 90 degree angle from sliding sideways. I suffered whiplash, of course and my neck and back are still not right. I had to get steroid shots in my back to be able to go to work because I started a new job. I had a concussion and still get headaches, and I tore my left acl, which has been replaced and now the only way to repair it is to have a knee replacement. I am still not okay and I know that a big reason for my severe injuries due to airbags not deploying. Accident occurred on 10/7/16 and I'm still suffering.

Takata recall: I took my car in to get the airbag replaced per the recall notice. My airbag malfunction light came on just after the replacement. I took the car back and they wanted $125 just to diagnose the problem. A garage said it was the seat belt buckle causing the problem. In the manual it clearly states that "Honda will repair or replace, at its option, any Honda seat belt component that fails to function properly during its normal use. This includes all parts and labor charges. " my greenwich, CT Honda said they had never heard of this warranty and they would not honor it. I called Honda America, 2 people said it was covered, the final person said no. I have read forums and talked to many others, as you can see that have this problem. It is a safety issue and my airbags will not deploy in an accident. If it is the sensor, that is a component of the seat belt. It is clearly faulty on these cars. On forums many people have had this problem and some Hondas have fixed it free of charge, and others will not. My garage gave me a quote of $282 for part and $95 labor.

Passenger side airbag recall. Honda dealership said there was no option for replacement car per NHTSA's agreement with Honda. Service manager says airbag can be disabled by unplugging, but they will not do so per NHTSA agreement. I purchased a 5 passenger vehicle for a reason. This is my families primary vehicle. One fourth of my vehicle is now unusable. If airbag does inflate, even with no one in the seat, it is likely that shrapnel will hit driver or possibly back seat passengers. Also, airbag will deploy if passenger seat is used to place other items on. Honda needs to be more concerned about their customers safety than the dollar amount. Even with nothing in the passenger front seat there is no guarantee that airbag will not deploy in an accident per the service manager as well as personal observation of accidents involving other vehicles. Called corporate Honda and am now waiting on someone to contact about getting permission to use rental vehicle. Cs employee cannot provide any information as to how long that may take. Meanwhile my family and I remain in danger.
