Failure Date: 07/28/2016

Takata recall - I have been trying to get the air bags replaced for months now at Honda of santa maria, CA. They said the driver's side air-bag is still on backorder and they have now ordered the passenger airbag. After receiving a letter in the mail regarding the recall saying that I shouldn't have a passenger even in my front seat, I am very uncomfortable even driving my car. I want it fixed ASAP, and it is very inappropriate when it is a matter of safety to be kept waiting such an extraordinarily long time.

Takata recall- my eighteen year old daughter's car has been on the waiting list for a new airbag since March 2016. Now there is a recall on the passengers side airbag. We checked with our local Honda dealer (heritage Honda in rome GA) and are told not only that we have to rent from enterprise because they have no loaner but that we have to supply our own insurance and that our daughter can not drive the rental car. There is no date given for when the repair can be executed! I have read on the Honda/Acura website how teens can now drive loaners or rentals but this was never mentioned by our local dealer. We have always thought very highly of Honda cars and have owned a 1998 Cr-v for many miles. This unfortunate issue with the airbags should not have such an impact on the loyal Honda customers. I would like for someone to make this right. Contacting our local dealer and having them loan my daughter a good car until her's can be repaired will be an enormous jester of good will from Honda and I will let it be known but I also intend on pursuing other avenues if we are having to adjust our lifestyle to adhere to the issues related to this recall. Please contact me at 706-346-4237 or sue525@bellsouth. Net.

38 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

Takata recall. . Recall for driver side air bags fix took 2 months a loaner car was provided. Had car for approximately one month received second notice for passenger side air bag on 07/2016 fix wont be available til late summer early fall. Recommend not to transport passenger in front seat. I requested a loaner approximately 2 weeks ago and was recently informed that the request was sent to the escalation department and that they would call me when they get to my request. I purchased the vehicle because I needed the space and not being able to transport anyone in the front seat makes my care unusable. Honda had me park my car for 2 months until they received the driver side air bags and I know that while they were waiting for the driver side air bags to be repaired Honda knew that the passenger side air bags were defective as well. I strongly feel that they should provided a loaner until the repairs were complete or buy back my car for a fair price. When I purchased my vehicle I bought a four seat car not three.

39 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

"takata recall" earlier in the spring our Honda crv was part of the massive driver side air bag recall. Basically was told that if it deployed, it may kill us with tiny pieces of flying metal. We spent months dealing with Honda and rentals through them that we had to argue over and keep exchanging. Hours and hours of work that my husband took off so he could drive halfway across atlanta each time to deal with rentals and Honda. Finally got our car back early this summer. Yesterday I got a new recall notice from Honda. This time it's for our passenger side airbag. Basically the same thing, if it deploys it may kill you with metal fragments. This time when I called Honda to find out the deal I was told, "the part is on backorder. We will order it but we don't know when we will get it. Until we do we suggest that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger seat. " seriously, this is what they said. Nope they won't help us with a rental, just don't sit in the front because if you get in a wreck the airbag that is supposed to keep you safe may kill you with flying metal fragments. For our family of 4, this "avoiding the passenger seat" is not an option. With 2 booster seats in the back there isn't space for an adult to sit, so basically they've rendered our main vehicle unusable. But refuse to help us in any way. I've made multiple calls to Honda headquarters and have "tickets" in place to request alternate travel assistance (rental) but was told that they are, "pretty backlogged with requests right now so I don't know when they will get back to you. " seriously.

40 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

Takata recall. Local Honda dealership was called in July, 2016 about need to replace passenger airbag per letter received July, 2016 from Honda automobile division. We were told it would be about six weeks. It is now over 9 weeks and we are still waiting. We were told not to allow anyone to ride in the passenger seat. This is definitely a problem for us. At least when it was the driver side airbag, Honda rented a car for us until the airbag could be replaced. This time they will not. What are our options per the NHTSA.

41 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

Takata recall - I received a safety recall from Honda concerning the passenger side airbag. Honda stated parts wouldn't be available until late summer/fall. The proposed solution by Honda "avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until recall is repaired" is not a realistic solution. I transport multiple passengers and need to have someone sit in the front passenger's seat. I called Honda automobile customer service on 7/26/16 to request an alternate vehicle. I was told a case manger would call me within 2-3 business days. They also stated they would escalate my request so that I could get a response sooner. I've made four more calls since the initial one with the latest being on 8/6/16. Each time the Honda rep said they would escalate my case for a quicker response but case mangers are overloaded. As of today, 8/8/16, I still haven't received the first call from a case manger concerning the request for an alternate vehicle. This is total unsat and I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue with Honda. Honda's lack of proper planning to handle the response to the safety recall they sent out is causing a hardship for those that need to use the passenger's seat. Honda should be directed to hire more case mangers and work off the backlog of request soonest. They should also be directed to have a case manger call me concerning my request. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide in this matter.

42 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/25/2016

Takata recall: received a recall notice in April 2015 advising to not drive car until drivers side air bag was replaced. Honda provided a rental car until repairs were completed. (approx 3-4 weeks. ) July 2015 receive another notice that the side bag is needing replacement and that no one should sit in the passenger front seat until repairs have been made. The letter said late summer or early fall is the date repairs will occur. Called Honda and they said they do not provide alternate transportation for passenger seat issues and passengers should sit in the back. I told them that I have 5 members in my family and in a 5 passenger car, someone must sit in the front passenger seat. They told me they would assign a case number and someone would get back to me. That was 3 weeks ago and 6 phone calls to Honda and no one has gotten back to me at all. They even had the nerve to say that my case was expedited. It is not safe to drive this car this way and Honda should be required to provide alternate transportation until their car is made safe. How many deaths and injuries would justify this expenditure. Please help as I am not the only being treated this way by Honda, and it needs to change.

43 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/25/2016

Takata recall - it has been over 3 months since my first Honda notice regarding this recall, and I still have not been contacted by my auto nation Honda fremont dealer to install the passanger side airbag fix. Now I just received a letter from Honda recommending I not allow a passenger to sit in the front seat until the recall repair is installed. All attempts to contact the dealer for information and scheduling for the repair have failed.

44 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Takata recall notified in Feb 2016. Numerous calls to dealer and Honda USA but they still haven't repaired driver side airbag.

45 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

Takata recall: I received a 2nd recall notice on my Honda crv this time for passenger side air bag. The previous time was the driver side and was just completed 2 weeks ago. This recall again informs us that delay will be to end of summer until parts are available and don't have anyone sit in passenger seat. The previous recall Honda provided a rental car, but that option was not offered this time. If the danger exists to put warning in notice, then the burden of injury is placed on the owner with no recourse to assume the risk. Please review this practice as a precedent has been established to eliminate the burden of risk to owner.

46 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

Takata recall: first, my driver side recalled. Car was rented for me and 2 months later, fixed. Now, my passenger side airbag recalled. Notice came weeks ago and part supposedly ordered but told Honda, not dealer has to authorize "alternative transportation". Called 3 times in as many weeks explaining I have 1 car and transport senior ladies -some blind-and need a car that front seat is available. Started out saying would review and callback in 2,3 days. That didn't happen. Called again, this time said would send to supervisor for review, would notify in few days. Nothing, again. Called today with same reply and cannot give any timeline days, weeks, months etc. Very frustrated. Asked for that in writing - that they were aware that I needed the front seat in order to transport ladies and they refused to provide alternative transportation for me while waiting for them to approve and that they have no idea how long that might take. Obviously they do not care about anyone's safety but merely $$ it would cost them. I am extremely disgusted with Honda and wish for only bad things for them. This latest saga started about 3 weeks ago. My case # 04886356.

47 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

"takata recall" vehicles in high humidity regions are being recalled for passenger side airbag failure. We live in an area of very high humidity which is not in specific region of the recall. We want this passenger side airbag replaced or disabled. Better to be without this airbag, then to have a face full of shrapnel.

48 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

Takata recall my airbags were recalled back in February. I have called Honda numerous times and they keep telling me the parts are not available. I am 7 months pregnant and would really like my car to be safe to drive. It is the only vehicle I own. I just received another recall for the passenger side airbag today. My car seems to be unsafe for anyone at this point. This is unacceptable. Thank you for your time.

49 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

Takata recall April 8th I brought my car into Honda for a repair due to the recall, received a rental. July 13th ray price Honda serviced the car and fixed the drivers side air bag July 17th the car was ready for pick up and I was informed that the passenger side airbag was not fix and the part would not be in till a later date. *** this was not communicated to me until my drivers side was fixed and ray price told me I had to turn in the rental vehicle per Honda and bring the car back into service at a later date July 17th I called Honda and reported the problem. I stated that I am extremely upset and that it is unacceptable to be given a vehicle that is malfunctioning. It is complete negligence that Honda is willing to put potential passengers at risk in the car knowing the airbags caused prior injury and even death. I am extremely angry that Honda is asking me to also accept liability of having a passenger in the seat because of this recalled item. If someone is in my car and is hurt or dies I am responsible and the court system could prove negligence on my behalf. ** work over the summer I transport children to different actives and not using the front seat is not an option when I have a full car load. I am a single individual that does not have access to another car and I refuse to accept this negligence and expect to hear from someone soon. My case number is 04840827.

50 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/17/2016

Takata recall. My driver side airbag was recently replaced by rick case Honda and I received another letter in July 2016 that the passenger airbag needs to be replaced and also one door lock has to be replaced. And this time there will be no loaner vehicle be provided as before. I was told not to seat anybody in the passenger seat until the problem is resolved which could take up to two months. This creates a great inconvenience for us , we are driving sometimes app. Four hours on a road trip and the passenger would be confined in the back seat. What about if we have four passengers? I greatly would appreciate an answer. Also, I tried to contact a Honda dealer ship in north miami FL. And the phone wrang more than 20 times and nobody answered the phone, I could not even get to speak to an operator. The rick case Honda dealer is unfortunately app. A 60 mile round trip for us, therefore we can not go back there to have the passenger air bag replaced. I need a dealer closer to my home that could replace the airbag on the passenger side and at the same time replace the door lock. Also, a great concern to me is this late information regarding the passenger airbag. How long was it known that the passenger air bag is also faulty? my vehicle is being driven daily and most of the time someone was in the passenger seat.

51 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/11/2016

I was notified about 4 months ago that my car was subject to recall for both driver and passenger airbags. Notice said parts would not be available until June 2016. I called marin Honda the local dealer and was told they would order parts. Today, July 11th, I got a call informing me that the passenger side airbag ordered was in and to set up an appointment for installation. I asked about the driver side airbag and was told it was "back ordered". I said I wanted to wait for both parts ordered for the recall replacement to be available so I didn't have to spend 2 days on this recall. I was told that the passenger airbag would not be held for me and may not be available when the driver side airbag was available. This is a known safety risk but Honda is not giving recall replacement any priority, much less the safety of their customers. Customer safety should be number 1 priority.

52 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/06/2016

Takata recall. I contacted a dealer, matt castrucci Honda of dayton, on July 6, 2016, to schedule replacement of the passenger side air bag pursuant to the recall notice I received in June of this year. The dealer reports the part is on back order and they'll call us when it's delivered. As of December 5, 2016, we had not been contacted by the dealer. I called Honda hq and did not get a satisfactory response.

54 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Takata recall I called my local dealership dch Honda mission valley located in san diego, calif on 7/27 and was told that they would place an order for my passenger side air bag. But I was told they were instructed they couldn't place order for at least another week and then it could take up to three weeks for the part to arrive. I was instructed to contact Honda corporate. I called the 800-999-1009 number for Honda corporate on 7/27 and was told they would open a case for me. I was and am requesting a rental car to drive during this time as the car I am driving is dangerous and could cause injury to vehicle occupant. I was told that a case number could not be given to me as the case needed to be assigned but I could expect a call back in 2 - 3 days. I called back again on 8/4 to the 800-999-1009 Honda corporate number and was told my case had yet to be assigned but they could provide me with a case # 04900251. I was told that someone would be calling me back within a week and to answer my phone if I received an unknown caller number. I called yet again on 8/14 and was told that I still had not been assigned a case manager. I am baffled that no one is responding to me or giving me an update regarding my unsafe car. I purchased this car based on the reputation of Honda and for the number of people the car can seat. I usually always have a passenger sitting in my passenger seat. I do not have alternative transportation. I was even asked by dch Honda if I had another car I could drive during the recall period. . . . No, I don't. Honda is dragging their feet in addressing their customers real concerns regarding the safety of their vehicles. Honda should be responsible for paying for a rental car for its customers who are requesting them due to the danger they have placed us in. Help!!!!.

55 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

The passenger side air bag has been recalled in July 2016. Honda letter suggested not to put a person in the passenger seat until the air-bag can be replaced. However, it is not a good solution for us as there are 4-5 people riding in the car at all times. We requested a replacement rental or loaner car for the time being from Honda (case no 04958635). Even after a month, they have not made a decision on this and all our inquiries have fallen on deaf ears - they always tell us to wait until a case manager has reviewed the case and decided on what to do. The representative refuses to put their supervisor or case manager on the phone. It is quite frustrating dealing with Honda on this matter. My family will likely never purchase a Honda vehicle again in our lives.

56 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/16/2016

Takata recall: upon returning to our local Honda dealer to retrieve our Cr-v on 6/17/2016 after having the recalled driver's side airbag replaced, we learned the passenger side airbag is also defective. Despite being aware of the issue, Honda is presently refusing to service the vehicles or to provide rental or loaner vehicles; instead, they are simply advising individuals not to sit in the front-passenger seat until they can fix it (months from now). This is completely and horribly unacceptable; the defective airbags have already resulted in numerous fatalities and Honda is exercising willful negligence in sending these vehicles back out on the road. These are family vehicles, and are marketed as such; without use of a front-passenger seat the cars become slightly classier regular cab pickup trucks. Moreover, the owner's manual cites in multiple locations potential problems which could undermine the sensitivity of the pressure monitors which are to monitor the presence of a passenger in the passenger seat, meaning that all passengers and the driver of the vehicle are still in danger of flying metal shrapnel decapitating them in an accident. Honda's position (as stated both at autonation 385 in memphis, TN and via there customer service complaint center at (888)-234-2138) is that they can do nothing, and that no one should sit near that airbag. Living in the south, my family is precisely in the middle of the zone in which this defect is expected to be most likely; Honda's position is indefensible and deserves immediate attention and response from the NHTSA.

59 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/23/2016

Takata recall - I have an older car 2006. I live in south carolina which is hot and humid. I have called two different Honda dealerships who took my information. I assume I am waiting for the air bag replacement to come in. This is for the passenger side airbag. I already replaced the other one. I have not heard from either dealership. I know there is a back log but how do I get priority.

60 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/14/2016

Takata recall. I went to boardwalk Honda at 6807 tilton rd, egg harbor township, NJ 08234 last may 14, 2016 for the takata driver's side airbag recall on my Honda Cr-v 2009 model. I was told that it still was not available. I asked if they could provide me a temporary alternative transportation but they said at that time all vehicles reserved to them from enterprise were in use already. I kept on following up with them every week and even asked if they could reimburse me if I rented a car. They told me to call american Honda about that. Unfortunately, american Honda's number, 1-888-234-2138 automatically redirects you to an automated answering system which tells the caller to coordinate with your dealer. I have tried calling other dealers but they told me the airbag was VIN specific and once it's ordered by one dealer, they can't order it again. I'm getting concerned because we have a 2 yr old and a newborn baby and it's been almost 3 months and I fear for our safety every time I use that car. I only want them to provide me a rental car while waiting for the parts to come and not give me the runaround every time I call them. I sincerely hope you could help with our situation. Thank you.

62 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/29/2016

Takata recall. On April 29, 2016, I brought this car to my local Honda dealer. I was informed that because of the takata airbag recall, that this car was dangerous and I should not drive the car. However, they provided me with a loaner car, under the program approved by Honda motors, at no cost to me. Therefore I did not drive the car until the driver side airbag was repaired. This was done on August 12, 2016. At that time I was told that I would no longer qualify for a loaner even though they had not repaired the passenger-side airbag because of a lack of parts. I was told that the car was still dangerous, however, in that there should be no passenger in the passenger seat. I discussed this with the service manager, and he and I both agreed that this was not an entirely satisfactory solution. Besides the inconvenience of not having a usable passenger seat, if the passenger-side airbag did deploy, it would seem possible that metal parts could scatter throughout the passenger compartment. Thus, it wouldn't matter whether there was anyone in the passenger seat. People could still be injured, even in the rear seats. Honda apparently will not pay for a loaner car, since the car is now "drivable". Until the passenger airbag can be repaired, it would seem to me that this is a dangerous situation. This could be easily remedied by extending the loaner car period until the passenger side airbags can be repaired.

63 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/20/2016

I was notified April 2016 that my drivers side airbag was recalled. I called roberts Honda in downingtown PA was told they didn't have any parts, have checked with them every few weeks since then. My car has not been driven at all since April. Called Honda recall # on 8-4-16 again, they asked me if the dealer had ordered my part. Told them they never said the part had to be ordered. Honda called roberts Honda as was told my part was nevered ordered but they would order it now. Called talked to service mgr, they apologized and said they did order it now but didn't know when they would get it. My car has set for 4 mts. I have a company car now so didn't need the rental. My car is completely dead, won't start, the rotors are badly rusted. Very unhappy with dealer and Honda and would like call back. When talked to Honda recall dept was told they would put in complaint but still have not heard from anyone. My phone # is 610-883-6355 or work is 610-269-4500 ext 3343. Thanks.

65 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

Takata recall my car was taken in for the airbag recall for replacement. When I was called to come and get my car I asked if the driver and passenger side airbag had been replaced and was told yes. Upon arrival at the Honda dealership service department I was told they had made a mistake, only the driver's side airbag had been replaced. Needless to say I was very upset, asked to speak to someone and was given the number for the main american Honda office. I called them right at the dealership and was told at this time only the one airbag was on recall, I voiced my serious concern as my car had not been on the recall list a year ago and now it was and I have 2 grandchildren that frequently ride in my car. I requested that they disconnect the passenger side airbag, they said they could not do that, they tried to assure me it was safe for me to drive my car with my grandchildren. I requested that it be noted I was not satisfied. They gave me a case number. Right now I am in god's hands as this is the only transportation I have. It makes no sense that both airbags were not replaced when they had my car and replaced the driver's. When the updated lists come out I imagine since I live in florida I will eventually receive another recall notification, and this time for the passenger side. Both airbags need to be replaced at the same time.

66 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/08/2016

Takata recall- I received my first notice in early April, April 8th called my local dealership and was basically told that the recall was nonsense and there was no reason to worry about anything and they would have parts in 2-3 wks. April 19th called corporate with concerns after talking to dealership. I received an additional recall for the passenger side airbags now are included in the recall. I now have a 2 wk old baby, a 2 yr old, and a vehicle that I am still paying for that I am not comfortable safely putting myself or my family in and no repair dates in the near future. The 2nd recall has the same timeline of summer/fall, I understand this is a huge recall and the number of deaths compared to the number of effected vehicles "isn't that great" but all it takes is 1 accident to destroy my family.

70 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/25/2016

Takata recall -I am filing a complaint as pacific Honda in honolulu, hawaii, did not repair my vehicle in a timely manner, which per american Honda is 60 days from the date I first contacted the dealer for a repair appointment, March 2016. They offered a compact rental car at 35. 99 per day but I needed a larger car for work to transport supplies and shared the car when my son returned from college in may. I would need to pay more for an SUV plus an additional 12. 99 per day, since my son wasn¿t 25 years old. They promised to call as soon as the part was available in July. I contacted them several times before July, then in August when the agent said she would ask the manager to authorize detailing of my car, since mold had grown all over the interior and my car battery died twice. I again left a message on September 2 to advise that I wanted to pick up a rental car on September 5th, have my car cleaned and repaired as soon as possible. Terry, from the service department returned my call at 6:26 pm, and asked if I ever contacted Honda, then advised that they no longer offered a rental car, (as of a week or two ago) and the service manager could call me back on Tuesday, September 6. Then, when I became upset, she offered an appointment on Friday, September 9th to replace the driver¿s side airbag. If the appointment was available, why wasn¿t I called and scheduled sooner? we realize it was not the fault of pacific Honda, that the airbag was defective, however, it is their responsibility to rectify the situation in a timely manner and offer a comparable replacement or compensation for the inconvenience when a comparable replacement without additional expense is not offered. We think we have been more than reasonable waiting for the part, as well as saving Honda over $5,400. 00 in rental car fees (as I could have had it for over the past 150+ days at 35. 99 per day).
