I was driving my crv and a deer was in the road. I hit the deer going 40mph. It blew out the whole front of my car, my sensors, headlights, both fenders and my hood are dented. No airbags deployed or any sensors alerted me of the object or leaving the roadway. Also when I hit the deer, I lost all steering on that moment. I had to turn off my car and then back on to get my steering to release.

Subject: safety recall concern - VIN: [xxx] - location: ukraine message: "I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2024 Honda Cr-v (VIN: [xxx] ), which was originally manufactured for the u. S. Market and is currently located in ukraine. According to the official Honda mygarage portal, my vehicle has two active and unremedied safety recalls: NHTSA recall 24v-763 (manufacturer code: pjw) - high-pressure fuel pump leak. Nhtsa recall 24v-744 (manufacturer code: smm) - steering gearbox (eps) friction issue. Given the serious nature of these defects—specifically the risk of fuel leaks/fire and the potential loss of steering control—I am concerned about the safety of operating this vehicle. As the car is now in ukraine, I would like to request assistance in ensuring that the necessary improved parts (the high-pressure fuel pump and the steering gearbox components) are made available to an authorized Honda dealer in ukraine to perform these critical safety repairs. I look forward to your guidance on how to proceed with these safety remedies internationally. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When driving on the highway and making small adjustments to keep straight, the steering system will get stuck and suddenly jerk. This causes you to overcorrect and you have to steer back the other direction. This issue has continued getting worse and now affects the car at speeds >20 mph. This used to only occur at >60 mph.
When driving on highway the steering wheel sticks.

Reoccurring steering issue- after having the steering wheel rac & gear box replaced in April 2024 on my 2022 crv (purchased brand new), the issue is reoccurring in Nov. 2025. . My 2022 crv steering wheel sticks when driving on the interstate and doesn’t want to turn and is difficult to steer causing me to have to jerk the wheel and nearly wreck my car. The steering wheel also feels loose and spins around and round while at a stop. The steering wheel knocks/pops during a hard turns. Since this a wide spread issue well documented online, I would expect for there to be a recall - but there is not one on my 2022 crv even though I have experienced the issue twice now. The dealership and Honda corp is agreeing to pay a large portion of the $3000+ bill but I am still stuck paying nearly $200 for a defect that should be covered fully due to obvious manufacturing defects in the part. The car is 3 years old and has had the steering wheel rac replaced twice! ridiculous!!!.
The contact rented a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at unknown highway speeds, the lane departure malfunctioned. The vehicle was jumping while driving and became uncontrollable. The steering wheel had unknown damage. The wheel cover was removed, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that there seemed to be a torque sensor issue, the tires had low tread and the tire service light was illuminated. Additionally, there was an illegal tint on the windows. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The VIN was not available.

I've owned my car less than 4 months and it's acted up twice! I turn on the car and it refused to move. A steering wheel icon with an exclamation point displays on the dash. It just remains idle and it will not drive. It's a brand new 2026 and it's November 2025. It's extremely frustrating.
I have lost steering power on two separate occasions in the last week. When this happens the steering wheel locks in place. Once while I was reversing, I went to turn the wheel and the steering wheel was frozen in place. I pulled back into the spot put the car in park and then back in reverse and the wheel was still locked in place. I had to shut off the car and restart it 5 times for the wheel to unlock itself. The second incident was while I was driving. I was doing around 40 mph and went to make a lane change and the wheel was locked in place. This lasted closed to 1. 5 miles. Finally I was able to get some movement (it felt like when you have a flat tire in the front which makes it tough to steer-I did not have a flat. ) once pulled over I had to turn the car off and on for around 15 minutes until I could move the steering wheel again. I brought it to the dealership yesterday, they could not duplicate the issue and there were no codes, so there was nothing they can do. There was a previous recall of a steering gear box r, my car was not effected because it was produced after the original recall according to the dealership. When both incidents occured there were no warnings, the wheel just locked itself. Not being able to steer without warning is a huge safety risk. I have joined Honda forums and others are complaining about the same issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60-70 mph, the steering wheel was clicking while attempting to turn to the left or the right, and the vehicle became difficult to steer. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the steering rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. In addition, the contact was advised that if the failure was recall-related, the vehicle would be covered; however, the repairs were denied. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v663000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,796.
Steering wheel experienced electrical loss on highway. Electrical assisted steering wheel.
The steering sticks and makes a noise intermittently when turning the steering wheel. You cannot count on a smooth turn when turning. The dealership verified this and said the steering gear had to be replaced. While there are countless Honda crv complaints about this, on several model years, including mine ,and a recall on some of the VIN's, my VIN was not included. Honda recall would not help with this issue. Had to pay to have the dealership replace the steering gear, at a "discounted rate of $1444. 25. My vehicle only has 19, 497 miles on it.
Vehicle is a 2019 Honda crv. The steering keeps sticking. Especially entering and exiting highway ramps. Force is needed each time to control and correct the vehicle. This has been an issue for some time now. Please help.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while her mother was driving 55 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn while making left or right turns or while driving straight. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced, as well as the rack and pinion. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to technical service bulletin: 2 18-103 (2017-18 Cr-v: steering gearbox); however, the VIN was not included in the bulletin. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact there was no recall on the VIN related to the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.
The car model year is 2018 and has 49,580 miles when it was taken to the Honda dealer for inspection. The steering wheel was 'sticking' as if it were in a groove. Turning the steering wheel became somewhat difficult. It was if the steering wheel needed to be turned with enough force to get it up and over the lip of the groove so the car would turn. It also made a ticking or cracking sound when turning the steering wheel. Dealer test drove the car and was able to duplicate the concern. They found the power steering rack assembly had failed and stated so on the invoice. The entire unit needed to be replaced, and a 4-wheel alignment would then be required. The cost of the unit was $5,813. 75, and the cost of the alignment was $139. 95. This is a serious safety issue when the steering rack assembly fails.
When driving the vehicle the steering wheel sticks when I turn, change lanes, etc. It is most noticeable at highway speeds. If I am moving to the left, the steering wheel sticks and doesn't want to freely move back to the right/straighten up. Obviously the reverse occurs when I go to move to the right- it sticks and pressure is required to straighten the steering wheel. To date the steering wheel has not remained in a stuck position. This presents a major safety concern - if it doesn't move freely back to the desired position there is heightened chance of a traffic accident resulting in damage to my car and other cars involved. Worst case scenario: a serious accident resulting in serious injury or death to myself as well as any other drivers and/or passengers involved. Note: my local Honda dealer reports that there are no recalls or service bulletins on my vehicle, based on the VIN number. Other VIN numbers of the same make and model year as mine (2017 Cr-v) are subject of a recall (Honda service bulletin # 18-103, regarding faulty steering gearbox. ) for that reason I feel my vehicle should be included and repairs made at no cost to me.

When driving, there is a popping noise and the steering wheel is very sticky. Not all the time and more noticeable at lower speeds. Sometimes I have to slightly jerk the wheel to get it to respond. This does not seem safe. I took it to my local Honda dealer who said I needed a steering rack replacement and that I should contact Honda corp. Because that shouldn't happen in a 2022 crv. There is a similar recall for other year models but not the 2022. Honda agreed to only pay a small portion (less than 25%) of the cost but the rest is on me. Issue began couple weeks after my 3 year warranty was up.
The steering sticks. The sticking is making it difficult to control the vehicle without excessive jerking. According to mechanic, it's the gearbox.
The steering has started sticking. The sticking makes it difficult to control the vehicle in turns. According to mechanic, it's the steering gearbox. There have been recalls on the 2018 crv for this very issue and somehow this vehicle does not fit into the recall.
The steering seems to get a sticky feel after driving for a while. The steering wheel will get a sticky feel while a slight turn in the road and it will happen either turning left or right. Then on the highway it seems to happen so you can't keep the car going straight.
My car's steering wheel started making a noise when turning at around 2,000 miles per hour, and the steering wheel became very heavy when turning. I took it to the Honda service center twice. The first time, they told me there was nothing wrong with the car. The second time, they fixed the noise, but the heavy steering problem remained. When I drive at around 25/35 mph in a 25-35 mph zone, the steering wheel becomes very heavy, and it becomes extremely heavy above 50 mph. The Honda service center can't solve the problem, but I'm very worried about the possibility of an accident.
Malfunction of the Honda crv's rear upper control arms. Yes it will be available to inspect until the 13th of October. Safety risk is the fact there is no more adjustment on the factory installed rear upper control arms. When on the rack and they align the vehicle, they only want a . 5 degree when being done. The factory installed rear upper control arms makes the camber maxed out at 1. 25 degrees to the negative. This causes severe wearing of the tires if they are not watched closely and rotated frequently. Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by a certified shop and the dealership. Yes there was wear on the tires that made me request a four point inspection at the dealership. They did not preform an alignment. Said it was the lack of quality tires installed at the factory that made them wear so badly. This issue is not covered by manufacturing/ extended warranty available. Honda's response "more aggressive tire rotation" to prevent the problem. That is unacceptable. Especially when it is being said right off the alignment rack: "we only want to see a . 5 degree for the toe and camber. This Honda is maxed out and will not move away from that 1. 25 degree mark. " there is such a thing as adjustable upper control arms to prevent the premature wear of tires.
The contact owns a 2021 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was sticking. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

10/8/2025 the steering wheel was sticking. Honda mechanic said it was the left drive shaft. They ordered part and said would be a 2 hour repair. 10/16/2025 took vehicle back into shop for repair at 10:30 a,m. Vehicle not ready until 5:15p. M. We drove out and steering wheel still sticking. Went back manager drove it and said might be some part that needs greasing but he would check with the Honda corporation. And get back to us. 10/23/2025 service advisor called us and said it was the power steering rack. Repair bill would be $4400. 00. 10/27/2025 we talked to service advisor to see who manager talked to regarding this repair. Service advisor said manager would call us on 10/28/2025. We did not receive a call and did not receive a call on 10/20/2025. 10/30/2025 we filed a complaint with Honda corporation. Our vehicle is available for inspection. What we have read about this kind of recall is that steering wheel could permanently stick possibly causing an accident. The fact the manager said it was the power steering rack has not been confirmed . Some Hondas have been recalled for the power steering rack. Vehicle has not been inspected by any dealer or mechanic. This sticking issue started about 9/1/2025. . There were no warning lamps or messages.
My 2013 Honda crv completely broke down in late August 2025, as I was backing out of my driveway. Our lives were at risk. This could have happened in traffic, causing a terrible collision. My local Honda dealership found the chain guides broken and the timing off, and recommended replacement of several parts (timing chain, guides, tensioner, exhaust cam, rockers, and . . . Vtc actuator). Initially, they thought the cause was a lack of proper maintenance, specifically, infrequent or improper oil changes. I knew we had taken proper care of our car, so I began investigating. The check engine light was on for at least 2 years (as well as the rattling at start-up), and I had not gotten clarity on it until recently, after consulting with multiple professionals. Finally, a jiffy lube tech said it was due to the vtc actuator. I then brought my car to the Honda dealership in July 2025 for an oil change and to discuss the check engine light and vtc actuator issue. At that time, they did not alert me to the vtc actuator defect or the potential for complete engine failure. As I continued my investigation, I found a Honda service bulletin starting in 2016 (when my car was still under its three-year warranty) and updated in 2017 (when my car was still under its five-year power train warranty) describing the vtc actuator as defective. Had american Honda issued a recall at that time, instead of an sb, and had notified me of this defective part, my warranties in those years would have covered the replacement costs of my vtc actuator and related engine parts. And also been significantly less expensive. Flash forward to this fall 2025: as I continued my investigation, I discovered multiple class-action lawsuits against american Honda for this exact issue—a known defective vtc actuator. It turns out they conducted an internal study in 2011 that found the vtc actuator was defective. Now the dealership believes my car's failure was caused by a defective vtc actuator.

The contact’s mother owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact’s mother stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was unintendedly jumping. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering gearbox had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 48,439.
To whom it may concern: ?I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a serious and recurring safety defect in my 2018 Honda Cr-v ex, VIN# [xxx] . I have experienced at least four incidents within the last two months involving both sudden, unintended braking and intermittent steering lock-ups. These are not isolated events and pose a significant risk to the safety of myself and other motorists. ?the sudden braking issue, often referred to as "phantom braking," occurs when the vehicle's collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) activates without any obstacle or danger present. The car abruptly comes to a full stop, without warning, on a clear road. This is extremely dangerous and has nearly caused multiple rear-end collisions. ?in addition to the braking problem, the steering has also become intermittently stuck. This happens without warning and makes it difficult to turn the wheel, which could lead to a loss of control, especially at higher speeds or on curves. ?I have already reported these issues to two authorized Honda dealerships: ?curry Honda in atlanta, georgia ?Honda autonation in columbus, georgia ?on each occasion, the dealerships have been unable to replicate the problem and have told me they cannot find anything wrong. Despite their inability to diagnose the issue, the problems are very real and continue to happen. ?these defects are not just an inconvenience; they are serious safety hazards that could lead to a crash. I am concerned that if this problem is happening to my vehicle, it may be affecting other 2018 Honda Cr-v owners as well. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter thoroughly to prevent potential accidents and injuries. ?please contact me if you require any additional information. ?thank you for your attention to this critical matter. Sticky steering wheel issue like the recent recall on newer Hondas. This 2020 has about 50k and has recently been flashing the eps / steering wheel light when it occurs. After slowing down the vehicle "behaves" normal.

On highway driving steering wheel seems to stick.
After 4 4/2 years and 26,500 miles the steering became (slightly sticky ) it would take extra pressure to move the steering wheel. It also make clicking and creaking sound while turning at lower speeds 10 mph or less. The dealer said the entire steering rack needed replacement due to some part that could not be replaced. The the was fine until the steering just started getting tight.
Steering is sticky and grabbing. There is a catch in the middle position. There is a warranty extension out for this problem but not for my VIN #. How do I get Honda to cover this? problem has been progressing over the last month. This occurs at variable speeds.
Sticky steering. At times, the steering wheel feels stuck, and it takes greater force to break the turn, causing a jerking motion. [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I am writing to express a serious safety concern regarding my Honda Cr-v. I recently learned that Honda has recalled millions of vehicles due to a sticky steering issue, and while my specific vehicle is not listed in the current recall, I am experiencing similar symptoms. Most notably, I recently encountered a frightening incident in which the steering in my vehicle felt unusually resistant or "sticky. " as I attempted to correct my course on the highway, the lack of smooth steering response caused me to oversteer into the shoulder, putting myself and others at risk. Thankfully, I was able to regain control, but this could have resulted in a serious accident. In addition to the stiffness, I have also noticed a clicking noise when turning the wheel, which seems to accompany or precede the sticky sensation. Given the known recall for this issue in other Honda vehicles, I strongly urge you to investigate whether this problem might extend beyond the current recall list. My concern is that other affected vehicles, including mine, may have been missed. I would appreciate it if a representative could assist me with this. This is clearly a serious safety concern, and I believe it deserves your immediate attention. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
Steering keeps sticking while cruising down the highway, which is a problem but supposedly not on my VIN number. Manufacturer claims it’s a problem just not on mine. This happens constantly not on specific date below.
There are many complains online about the same issue from other car owners. All I want is for the dealer to repair at no cost to me. The car has less than 30k miles and it is driven only on city streets short distances. Below, the answer to the questions: 1-steering rack. Yes it is available for inspection 2-sticky steering hard to control 3-yes 4-yes. Authorized Honda dealer at coconut point, estero florida and Honda corporate office in California knows about it too 5- no warning just a noise we firmly believe many vehicles may have this same issue. Regardless, it is clear that the part in my car is defective and should be replaced by the dealer at no cost to me. The age and mileage of the vehicle do not justify such a serious problem. Either the part was made with poor quality or it is defective. How can a steering rack fail at only 29,248 miles—what is it made of, plastic? this raises serious concerns about Honda corporate and whether this is part of a broader scheme that should be investigated. My car is practically new and has been serviced exclusively at the same dealer where it was purchased brand new, without missing any of the recommended services ever. Note: from the invoice attached you can see how expensive it is this repair.
Steering sticks when driving 50 mph or faster. The steering feels stuck in position.
