My steering wheel feel "sticky" and "popping" when turning it. It does this sitting still and while driving around curves/turns and also driving straight. The steering used to be smooth in my 2022 crv Honda and now everytime it does this weird sticky and popping move and sound. Please help me as this is a safety hazard concern . I bought my car "new" at south pointe Honda dealership in tulsa, oklahoma and I always take it to the dealership for maintenance. I have 2 more Honda cars (different year models) and I have never had this problem before. I have seen there is a recall for this issue on the 2023 crv models, and I request this recall includes the 2022 crv models as well. I appreciate in advance your help and prompt attention to this matter.

I was driving Honda crv on route 60, mph was about 30 when the vehicle went to side by side on the road. This is a 2 lane highway. If some was coming the other way I could not help from colliding into them. I pulled over as soon as I could. The Honda has a left rear frams is broken. I heard other people announcing that their frame on crv Honda 2012 is broken at the same side. It is a good car except for the frame. Please help . Are there any recall for frame?.

Power stering rack is defective and leaking, there is a recall for 2022 and newer Honda crv's only with this issue. Honda needs to acknoweledge this issue extends further back and fix the issue. This is a concern while driving my vehicle and poses a safety risk for me and my family. Autonation Honda in corpus christi has inspected and confirmed this is the issue and wants to charge me $4,539. 39 to fix it plus $79. 95 for an alignment. No warning lights on dash.

Steering is sticky (resistant as though in a notch) when turning the steering wheel to the right or left beyond 30 degrees at highway speeds, or beyond 90 degrees at parking speeds. Issue seems more prevalent when turning left than right. Lane keep assist is off at all times. The steering system issue is a safety concern, as loss of control at highway speeds could cause a crash. Diagnostic by local Honda service center would cost ~$199. Was told by service consultant that a steering system repair (if necessary) would not be covered by warranty. Have not taken to non-Honda service center for inspection, estimate, or repair yet. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem. As the vehicle is driven during a trip, the problem becomes worse.
Experiencing reoccurring “sticky steering” when making left hands turns at highway speeds (as when taking off ramps). When the steering wheel is turned it will notch or stick at a certain point in its travel and not freely return to center. You have to apply a small amount of force to free it from the stuck position. If the wheel was to lock up when driving at high speed it could cause a significant safety issue. I have contacted Honda about the issue and I’m awaiting their response. I am aware there is a recall for 2023-25 Cr-vs for the same sticky steering issue. The problem I’m experiencing has not been inspected by anyone yet. No warning lamps or other symptoms were present prior or during the steering malfunction.
Yesterday, Thursday February 29, 2026, the steering wheel and/or lane assist feature of my 2023 Honda crv sport hybrid seemed to try to force my car over a cliff on a mountain road. I was driving from crystal mountain ski resort in washington state returning to my home in seattle wa when the steering wheel of my Honda seemed to stiffened or lock up at a curve in crystal mountain blvd several miles from the ski resort. At the curve in the road I needed to turn left to avoid driving over a steep mountain embankment and the steering wheel required unusual force to turn left. Steering was problematic for the next 40 miles on state route 410 driving northwest toward enumclaw wa. I had to fight the steering wheel continuously as it seemed to direct the car left and right when the path of the road was straight. Unusual force was needed to control the steering. It felt like the car was being forced by the steering to move in directions that did not follow the course of the road. There was a sense of lack of control of the steering wheel, and in the instance of the curve in the road coming down the mountain, it felt like the car was trying to drive over a cliff. It was a sense of loss of control, and that the car was by itself driving off the road.

On feb172026, I pulled in my driveway and car steering would not turn and hit my property. It caused extensive damage to my property police report was made and car end up in body shop. Steering wheel locked and car would not turn. Front end is completely damage.
The steering has recently become "sticky" requiring more pressure to make steering adjustments and worse on turns. It is not a one time occurrence but continues to be a problem daily. I have read that there have been recalls for this same issue in model years from 2022-2025 with some complaints from 2021 models.
Steering wheel noises while turning.
Recently I started noticing some issues with the steering on my 2018 Honda Cr-v ex, VIN [xxx] . It makes a noticeable sound when turning to the right, and sometimes feels like it is getting stuck or caught on something when turning right. I brought the vehicle to headquarter Honda in clermont, FL and was told the steering gearbox needs to be replaced and was quoted $4800 for the repair. Due to the high cost, I took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a second opinion. The mechanic confirmed the diagnosis, but stated that there was a recall for this issue in 2018 Cr-vs and suggested I reach out to Honda before paying for the repair. I contacted Honda and was told that yes, there was a recall for this issue in 2018 Cr-vs, but that my VIN is not included in the recall. The person I spoke with on the phone said there was nothing they could do. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

In December, 2025 my brand new 2026 Honda crv hybrid began making a clicking noise on the steering wheel. I had the dealer work on it and they said I had a faulty cable reel and they replaced it. This past week I noticed the same clicking sound in the steering wheel. I had the dealership look at the car again today and they were not able to replicate the noise. The service advisor at the dealership said that they are getting a lot of 2026 Honda crvs in the shop with this very issue. When my steering wheel made the clicking sound last week, my steering wheel was a little hard to turn so my concern is that my wheel will lock up, which could cause an accident.
Having issue with steering clicking and slipping when turning - looked up recall by year make and model and car showed steering gear issue - but the recall did not show up by VIN - took the car for maintenance and had them check - they found the car indeed has the steering gear issue and needs to be fixed - I'm concerned about why the car has the issue which shows by make and model but not by VIN and also about another recall on fuel pump that also shows for same year make and model but not by VIN.
There is a catch / tight spot in my steering. I see that I is a common problem on these vehicles but no recall.
The steering feels notchy on the highway and if is difficult to make small steering corrections.
Unknown: steering is stiff. Minor changes like maintaining lanes or changing lanes is becoming increasingly difficult. Large motions are fluid. It feels like it’s sticky. When I change lanes or other minor changes it takes a lot of work to move the car back to its original position. Having issues where it gets caught in certain positions causing significant steering issues.
Steering has seemed sticky since I bought car in July. On Jan. 30 after a 20 min drive on a freeway I entered a long sweeping right turn curve. During the turn the steering when jerked 3 times to the left. If there had been a car next to me, this would have caused a serious accident. Research shows this exact problem was under recall for the 2023-2024 Honda crv's. Cause faulty eps gear. Beaverton Honda was unable to replicate and denied our claim to replace. There were no warning lights. We believe this is the exact issue presented in the 2023-2024 recall- usdt investigation ea23003 and issues with 2022 Honda crv should be included in the recall.
Steering was fixed in October 2023 we had purchased car in may of that year. The issue has returned except it feels now like the steering is moving on its own. This is the first time since repair this issue was noticed. This is very concerning. I have notified Honda. Dealer to date has not seen car they want to charge me to examiner vehicle which is still under warranty, which is why I called Honda. I told dealer I was concerned enough not to want to drive vehicle.
Our steering rack has failed on our 2020 crv with 23,000 miles on it. There are recalls out there for earlier crv's as well as the 2023-2025 crv's. It cost us $5300 to repair it. If there is an obvious safety defect, why are the 2020's not covered in this recall. There is obviously a long standing safety issue here.

The power steering on my 2018 Honda crv xe is sticky or sticks when I when I try to keep my crv is the middle of the lane and/or change lanes a majority of the time on the freeway/highway. At times, the crv will slides/drifts from one side to the other. The crv is going in this week for an inspection / evaluation at a Honda dealership. There were no signs or warnings when I purchased the crv from a private party. I will make the crv for inspection.
Steering wheel creaks and clunks when moved up and down. My mechanic told me it seems like it is a rack and pinion trouble. Honda crv 2024.

Steering pulls and clicks at highway speeds. Engine misfire due to faulty fuel injection issues.
I was driving my crv and a deer was in the road. I hit the deer going 40mph. It blew out the whole front of my car, my sensors, headlights, both fenders and my hood are dented. No airbags deployed or any sensors alerted me of the object or leaving the roadway. Also when I hit the deer, I lost all steering on that moment. I had to turn off my car and then back on to get my steering to release.
I was driving the vehicle when all of a sudden all of the lights appeared on the dashboard. I took it in to the dealership and was told it was due to po172 code.
Subject: safety recall concern - VIN: [xxx] - location: ukraine message: "I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2024 Honda Cr-v (VIN: [xxx] ), which was originally manufactured for the u. S. Market and is currently located in ukraine. According to the official Honda mygarage portal, my vehicle has two active and unremedied safety recalls: NHTSA recall 24v-763 (manufacturer code: pjw) - high-pressure fuel pump leak. Nhtsa recall 24v-744 (manufacturer code: smm) - steering gearbox (eps) friction issue. Given the serious nature of these defects—specifically the risk of fuel leaks/fire and the potential loss of steering control—I am concerned about the safety of operating this vehicle. As the car is now in ukraine, I would like to request assistance in ensuring that the necessary improved parts (the high-pressure fuel pump and the steering gearbox components) are made available to an authorized Honda dealer in ukraine to perform these critical safety repairs. I look forward to your guidance on how to proceed with these safety remedies internationally. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When driving on the highway and making small adjustments to keep straight, the steering system will get stuck and suddenly jerk. This causes you to overcorrect and you have to steer back the other direction. This issue has continued getting worse and now affects the car at speeds >20 mph. This used to only occur at >60 mph.
When driving on highway the steering wheel sticks.
Reoccurring steering issue- after having the steering wheel rac & gear box replaced in April 2024 on my 2022 crv (purchased brand new), the issue is reoccurring in Nov. 2025. . My 2022 crv steering wheel sticks when driving on the interstate and doesn’t want to turn and is difficult to steer causing me to have to jerk the wheel and nearly wreck my car. The steering wheel also feels loose and spins around and round while at a stop. The steering wheel knocks/pops during a hard turns. Since this a wide spread issue well documented online, I would expect for there to be a recall - but there is not one on my 2022 crv even though I have experienced the issue twice now. The dealership and Honda corp is agreeing to pay a large portion of the $3000+ bill but I am still stuck paying nearly $200 for a defect that should be covered fully due to obvious manufacturing defects in the part. The car is 3 years old and has had the steering wheel rac replaced twice! ridiculous!!!.
The contact rented a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at unknown highway speeds, the lane departure malfunctioned. The vehicle was jumping while driving and became uncontrollable. The steering wheel had unknown damage. The wheel cover was removed, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that there seemed to be a torque sensor issue, the tires had low tread and the tire service light was illuminated. Additionally, there was an illegal tint on the windows. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The VIN was not available.
I've owned my car less than 4 months and it's acted up twice! I turn on the car and it refused to move. A steering wheel icon with an exclamation point displays on the dash. It just remains idle and it will not drive. It's a brand new 2026 and it's November 2025. It's extremely frustrating.
I am experiencing a “sticky, notchy” steering issue on my 2025 Honda Cr-v hybrid. When the steering wheel is approximately 1–2 degrees off center (either left or right), the steering resists movement and then suddenly jerks when correcting. This makes it difficult to make smooth corrections and maintain a steady lane position. The issue only occurs after driving for about 30–40 minutes, which suggests it may be related to component warm-up or prolonged operation. The problem does not occur during short drives. This issue began about two month ago and now happens consistently once the vehicle has been driven long enough. I brought the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to reproduce the issue because their test drive lasted only about four minutes. No diagnostic findings or repairs were performed.
I have lost steering power on two separate occasions in the last week. When this happens the steering wheel locks in place. Once while I was reversing, I went to turn the wheel and the steering wheel was frozen in place. I pulled back into the spot put the car in park and then back in reverse and the wheel was still locked in place. I had to shut off the car and restart it 5 times for the wheel to unlock itself. The second incident was while I was driving. I was doing around 40 mph and went to make a lane change and the wheel was locked in place. This lasted closed to 1. 5 miles. Finally I was able to get some movement (it felt like when you have a flat tire in the front which makes it tough to steer-I did not have a flat. ) once pulled over I had to turn the car off and on for around 15 minutes until I could move the steering wheel again. I brought it to the dealership yesterday, they could not duplicate the issue and there were no codes, so there was nothing they can do. There was a previous recall of a steering gear box r, my car was not effected because it was produced after the original recall according to the dealership. When both incidents occured there were no warnings, the wheel just locked itself. Not being able to steer without warning is a huge safety risk. I have joined Honda forums and others are complaining about the same issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60-70 mph, the steering wheel was clicking while attempting to turn to the left or the right, and the vehicle became difficult to steer. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the steering rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. In addition, the contact was advised that if the failure was recall-related, the vehicle would be covered; however, the repairs were denied. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v663000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,796.
