1 Steering Wheel problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/14/2011

Odyssey had great vibration through steering wheel and through body of car. Vibration varied depending on speed. This could of caused a tragic accident. Diagnosis was failure of rear and side motor mounts for the second time in 20 months. Poor design of these mounts fail prematurely and cause vibration and handling errors which could have tragic consequences.

Failure Date: 02/26/2011

Front pass side (right) coil spring broke suddenly about 3 inches from the top while traveling down road our near home. The coil popped out of the strut upper mount and rubbed on inner fender. Replacement coils were fitted on 3-5-2011 to both sides when it was discovered the right side coil was previously broken at the bottom flat wound coil. The left side front coil was also previously broken at the top most coil, for an unknown amount of time . The sharp ended piece was trapped under the remaining spring piece.

4 Steering Wheel problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/09/2005

This happened while finishing a right turn onto a short on ramp to the freeway. While holding the steering wheel with my left hand (right hand meanwhile moving to new position)and turning the steering wheel counterclockwise to straighten my vehicle again, the little finger of my left hand got caught between the airbag/steering column and the array of buttons for the cruise control (near the base where the gap there is larger). After turning the wheel a little bit several times while trying to free my hand, I realized I was in trouble: I couldn't straighten the steering wheel out without breaking my hand, and turning the steering wheel far enough to the right to free my hand would have resulted in the vehicle leaving the road. So I gritted my teeth and yanked my hand out, leaving a long cut on the top/side of my little finger, but able to continue driving. Looking at the steering wheel in the neutral position, I see that large space between the steering wheel and the airbag on the right side of the airbag (2 o clock to 4 o clock) comes to a narrower cone or pointed shape at the inferior end, so that while holding the steering wheel there with the left hand (thumb on the outside of the wheel), the hand can slide down and get 'fed' into the space between the cruise control buttons and the airbag area. I have been driving 22 years without accident or incident, most of them with Honda vehicles, several of them with cruise control vehicles, and I haven't changed my style of driving, but this is the first time this has happened.

5 Steering Wheel problem of the 2001 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/25/2001

The vehicle experienced the following: out of alignment, loud bang/ticking, shaking, engine hesitation, inoperative a/c, a contaminated filter with metal shavings, a/c drain tube was rubbing and draining on the steering rack boot, coolant reservoir was empty and the right front seal on the body was damaged due to it being improperly placed, a/c knob was broken, the a/c airflow automatically changed, when the a/c blower motor speed decreased, various dash lights would dim, the hood latch was defective, static shock problem, there was a coolant smell, due to the reservoir fluid level, the sliding door was inoperative, the transmission was defective, the crankshaft pulley and the steering wheel vibrated, the right door seal had come apart, the splash shield clip was missing, the idle speed fluctuated from 750 to 2000 rpm with the vehicle in park/neutral, and immediately after, the mil light had come on. The repairs are as followed: wheels aligned, a/c condenser and compressor evaporation dryer, intake manifold, reinstalled rear evaporator/heater unit, installed a drain tube in the retainer bracket, hood latch was replaced, pcm replaced to solve the transmission problem, removed the broken bolt from the block, the crankshaft pulley vibration is still unresolved, and the slash shield clip has been replaced. Scc.

6 Steering Wheel problem of the 2000 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/01/2000

Honda sold me a van knowing that it pulled badly to the right. They tell me all vans do this, thus, they will not give me a new one. The problem is very dangerous.

7 Steering Wheel problem of the 1999 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/29/1999

At speeds 70 mph and greater, a severe vibration occurs in the steering wheel. The dealer told me it was due to the tires and that I should replace them. At approx 20,000 miles I decided to do so and the vibration went away. I have heard that Honda is reimbursing some owners for the expense of new tires in this situation. I am looking for the same from Honda. ( dot number: ).
