Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Hyundai Accent - part 2

On Monday, October 14, 2013 I was traveling east bound on us17 in suffolk, va at approximately 8:30pm at the posted speed limit of 50mph when I struck a full-sized male deer head-on. He came out of nowhere - he was notin the road or my line of vision prior to me striking him. The vehicle came to an abrupt halt, but no airbags deployed. The deer flew into the median, where it died. I immediately contacted the local police and I have an incident report. I then contacted my insurance company and arranged for the vehicle to be repaired. No one can tell me why the airbags did not deploy. I have pictures from all sides of the vehicle detailing the damage. I would think that a head-on collision at 50mph would warrant an airbag deployment. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle, and am now afraid to drive at night. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai directly, and they have sent me a laundry list of items that they wanted me to provide to them. Per my phone call with them this morning, that information was received on 11/04/13. Today is 11/18/13, and I have yet to hear back from Hyundai regarding their end of the "investigation".

On 11/24/13, the "independent investigator" contacted me regarding a visit to my vehicle to make a download for Hyundai the next day. He did so, and took a lot of pictures and was with the vehicle for over an hour. I also forwarded him the photos that the repair shop took. Last night I called again, and was given the name of "[xxx]" as the one assigned to my case. To date, I have yet to have any correspondence with this [xxx]. I am very dissatisfied, I fell unsafe, and am completely frustrated with Hyundai right now. The airbags, per their own manual, should have deployed at a head-on 50mph crash. I was in a head on collision with a vehicle where I was going approximately 45 mph. My complaint is that there air bag did not deploy during the incident which caused me to bang my head against the sun visor/ roof of the car. The vehicle was totaled.

The srs airbag error light came up, the code reads b1448 which is the malfunction of the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat. The vehicle is out of warranty. Without the occupancy sensor working correctly, the passenger airbag will not deploy in a collision! this Accent model should have recall on this issue.

While driving on the interstate in perfect weather the car suddenly fishtailed and then flipped three times. The driver was thankfully uninjured but the airbags never deployed. In inspecting the car the rear wheels would not move so it was ruled that the brakes seized up. The brakes were not being used when this happened suddenly and out of the blue.

Takata recall. My wife was sideswiped by a hit and run driver and ran off the road onto a rough vacant field. Airbag failed to deploy and she hit her head on the steering wheel and suffered a skull fracture. Two weeks after the accident she started having memory problems and has suffered 5 strokes and a CT scan shows brain damage. This has gone on since April of 2012 and the car was just a few months old with approxamatly 8,000 miles on the car. It did about $ 8000. 00 dollars in damage which was never repaired right until alfa insurance company in alabama sent us to the best body man around and he replaced the entire front end of the outer panels and all of the underside supports and matched the paint perfect. I expect my wife to either be in a nursing home or more strokes may kill her. I don't have the accident report since it's been almost 4 years since the accident. The Hyundai Accent is a death trap in my opinion and should not be on our united states roads at all. That car will kill you in the slightest accident and my wife is turning into a vegetable before my eyes. Thank you, james l kirby in coker, alabama 35452. She did have a witness that was installing cable tv lines on a power pole she almost hit. We did file a lawsuit against and the attorney settled for about $10,000. 00 and he sold us out. She can't have nursing care for that amount.

2006 Hyundai Accent GLS 4 door. . . Srs module failure causing air bag light illuminated on dash. . . Module is located between the driver and passenger seat underneath cup holders and is exposed to moisture. . . Module is not protected from moisture resulting in srs system being disabled. . . While stopped at a light, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle causing him to crash into the vehicle positioned in front also waiting for the light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time where the technician replaced the mat. The contact was later involved in a crash where the air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the right knee and bruises to the right hand, fingers and shoulders. The contact sought medical attention from her physician. The police reported to the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop for repair. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 12,834.

My 1999 Hyundai Accent vehicle got hit on the rear (bumper) while I was still on a red light and the impact was so strong that the hit propelled my vehicle to hit the vehicle in front of my vehicle (a suburban truck) causing rear and front damages to the Hyundai. I contacted the Hyundai corporate and an investigation is yet to be scheduled. I received written confirmation that my Hyundai vehicle has not been the only one with airbags deployment failure. That to me is a big safety issue that needs to be investigated accordingly.

On June 17 2008 at 445pm, my daughter was returning home from school in her 2000 Hyundai onj the new york state thruway190 north,she was involved in a chain reaction accident,her car rearended a vehicle,and the impact totaled her car. The airbag didn't deploy she was injured bruising and whiplash,I called Hyundai headquarters and asked if they wanted to inspect the vehicle to establish why the airbag did not deploy. The consumer affairs rep carolyn b harvey sent me a form letter saying they were interested I n examining the vehicle , I asked if the vehicle could be sent to a dealer , I was informed they would but there would be a charge of 40 dollars a day, and the process would take 4 to 6 weeks, please add my complaint to your files.

I was traveling southbound in the right lane of a two-lane road in phoenix. A vehicle traveling northbound on the same road was attempting to make a left turn onto a side street. The vehicle (a Ford explorer) turned left in front of me and caused me to collide with the front passenger side of that vehicle. My car (Hyundai Accent) was hit on the front driver side and the front of the car was seriously damaged and windshield cracked. My air bags did not deploy. The vehicle I hit had minimal damage, yet its airbags did deploy. I went to the er with chest and neck pains. The x-rays showed swelling to my neck and a bruised upper chest. The car was declared totaled by a claims adjuster.

While driving, stopping at a stop sign, and when pulling out another vehicle speeding hit consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Consumer sustained injuries. The vehicle was hit on the left front corner.
