1 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/13/2024

I purchased this car in December 2023. As 2024 happened, I had a routine maintenance check on the car. The oil was changed, all the fluids checked etc. It appeared fine. Within a year, I have to change the spark plugs twice and once again in 2025. . That's isn't normal. The plugs were jet black. Oil is seeping out of the gas tank. Not natural. There is an oil consumption issue. My mechanic had typed notes on my receipt on what the problem(s) had been. Every other week, I am adding oil to my car. It isn't paid for. I would like a recall established on my car. I am [xxx] and need a reliable car. I went to one Hyundai dealership, provided the information my mechanic had written. Refused to give me the oil consumption test. I paid $200 or $238 for an oil change and a plug of some sort. I am aware that there was a class action lawsuit against Hyundai in 2022 for the same issue for my car. Money was paid to those whom had this issue ( I read). I have problems with my legs and back. I really need help. I need a recall on my car. Approximately, maybe a little less, every 5000 miles, my engine light comes on. I know a faulty spark plug shake. I can't afford to buy a new or replacement engine that work. I have never contacted NHTSA before I purchased this vehicle. I did call Hyundai main customer service line and was informed a recall had never been issued for this problem. Yet, numerous owners had and still have this issue along with the car hesitating at time to start. That is a problem with my as well. I am not sure of the exact date the first set of spark plugs were replaced. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/19/2023

High oil consumption: to the documented tune of 40 quarts consumed april17 - December 15, 2023, encompassing 24,116 driven miles. Hyundai America and this dealer knows all about this issue and is stalling on the remedy because it requires total engine replacement. Presently I am experiencing a p1326 engine knock sensor fault and I'm told by my mechanic a prospective catalytic converter failure due to high oil consumption. Experiencing loss of power and no acceleration merging onto highway.

3 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 07/23/2023

This is an oil consumption & engine failre car was being serviced by Hyundai for oil consumption test, and failed, 1 quart of oil consumed every 400 miles. On 7/23/23, engine failed on PA turnpike while travelling 70 mph, and almost caused an accident. At 65k miles Hyundai agreed to to conduct oil consumption test, and submit for engine replacement, first part of oil consumption test failed, and car was set for engine under Hyundai warranty, but 2 days prior to cleaning engin failed. Engine has had high pressure fuel pump replaced, and I reported gas smell from oil catalytic convertor was replaced @ 55k miles, as oil consumed burned out convertor. Now that the engine valves are burned, Hyundai is not honoring the good faith engine replacement.

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

Engine is consuming 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. I add 1/2 quart every 500 miles in order to be safe. If this vehicle is driven by someone other than a person like me who checks the oil level between oil changes the engine would fail due to lack of oil. The dealer wants $150 to conduct an oil consumption test! several dealers tell me that this condition is ok, really?.

7 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 04/09/2021

My 2014 hyuandi Santa Fe engine mysteriously blew after burning all my oil. No warning signs, lights, and 3 months prior just got serviced at the dealership. Oil changed. No mention of my engine burning my oil. However, one month ago driving down a highway. My car made a strange pull. It didn?t feel good. For precaution I pulled over. My tires were steaming looking like smoke. My car stopped running completely and wouldn?t start again. My car showed no problem, no sign, no warning and never been late on a service due. The few miles over I was on my first service- is no excuse for my oil being empty. Having been serviced just 3 months prior, and only a few miles over my service date. My engine blew. Burning all my oil. And no sign, and warnings from my car. Besides my entire car shutting down on a busy highway. My engine was recalled, but case closed in 2017. My dealership won?t cover my engine. And I?m furious. What amount of money this car has been, one month in the shop, no rental car given for transportation, hyuandi do better!!!!!!.

17 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 09/10/2020

My 2014 Santa Fe went into "limp mode" and wouldn't travel more than 5 miles an hour. I was told that my engine had no oil and was part of a safety recall. After months of jumping through the hoops with a series of oil consumption tests, I was told that if I replaced a slightly drippy oil pan gasket (a leak so small that it never hit my concrete carport) that Hyundai of cumming would send our paperwork to Hyundai corporate for a recall of the engine. I never knew that the car completely-shutting-down while driving was a possibility. Apparently, the recalled engines do exactly that! they shut down while being driven with no warning! while driving, my Santa Fe completely shut-down. No power steering, no power brakes, nothing! no warning lights ever came on to alert me of a problem. The timing of this happening was convenient though as I was going away for 5 days. I dropped my car at the cumming GA dealership. I asked them to replace the oil pan seal and trouble shoot the stalling problem. 5 days they sat on my car. They did nothing. Turns out, they were waiting on the service-rep who did my repair estimate to return from vacation. They were going to wait 11 days without doing the work or talking to me. They said that they didn't do the work because my car did not qualify for the recall. Recall or no recall, I need my car fixed! after showing up in person, I was given a loaner car until they could diagnosis the engine & replace oil pan gasket. This was tues 9/15. They gave me the loaner car until fri. Called on fri, they hadn't found the stalling problem and said keep the loaner until 9/25. Was told today that they still have not replaced the oil pan gasket, but they want the loaner back. This is outrageous. I don't feel safe in this car. And despite being a paying customer, they still haven't done the work they said I need to have done for the recall.

21 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 03/27/2020

Let me say my Hyundai Santa Fe limited ultimate 3. 3l awd is a very good and reliable vehicle never had any issues or problems. Always kept it maintained. Well about a month ago I happen to start my Hyundai with the door open and I heard a sound just for a few seconds. The sound of a engine low on oil what could not believe it, it can't be. So I checked it and sure enough it needed oil, dumbfounded no oil puddles anywhere on the ground I was kinda in shock this has never happened didn't need to worry about that its never leaked oil and none of the gentlemen that changes the oil never said anything oil about the oil being low or oil on the engine. So I found out what kinda of oil it took and put about 3 1/2 quarters. Ok all better but still wondering how that happend just recently had the oil changed. Well the next morning I had to drive to san diego from long beach checked oil ok no problem all good. So im on the freeway driving throu oceanside camp pendleton and was getting hungry so the first exit after driving through oceanside I was going to stop and get something mind you no lights no smells no smoke. So I started to exit still everything just fine and when I slowed down coming to the light the engine stalled again no smoke no lights no smells. I was very suprised I tried to start it and nothing tried again and nothing. So I called aaa they looked at it and didn't see anything wrong but would not start. So I had them take it on a flat bed to Hyundai harbor off of cherry where it sits now. They looked at it and said the engine has seized up it will not rotate. Took oil pan off and found metal pieces and said the bearings went bad in turn burning up the oil and seized the engine. That pretty much it so is their anything that can be done to help me. I still owe around $19,000 on it and dont know what to do I'm glad I found that little article because I need help.
