Multiple complaints about the engine stalling while driving at different speeds causing very dangerous situations the vehicle looses power steering and proper braking mine has done this once so far and I have seen multiple complaints online of the same this happening to others who own the same year make model of the vehicle.

Very recently, the car has been stalling out with no warning, no odd sounds and no obvious reason as to why. I took the car to a well-known, trusted mechanic who was unable to find the cause, as the vehicle presented 0 fault codes. I was informed that I would have to drop the car off for a couple of days so that they could diagnose what the issue could be, and hopefully catch it happening. After doing so, I was then informed that it showed 0 signs of stalling while in their possession. In order to possibly find the issue, the car would have to be kept for more than just a couple of days, which would affect my job and the bill would most definitely be more than I could afford. The symptoms include the following. . . Engine stalls while in idle at a stoplight. Engine stalls while stopping at stop signs. Engine stalls while driving in low speeds. Engine has a rough idle in morning and stalls within first mile of driving the vehicle. This has all been occuring for the past month. Every mechanic I speak to for help agrees it's a mystery issue and that the vehicle would have to be kept for a period of time for diagnostic measures. I'm not sure where else to turn. I use my vehicle daily for work and have never experienced anything like this before. Not only is it a very unsafe and dangerous issue, it literally scares the crap out of me, because when it happens, it's sudden with no warning. Tired of fearing for my life if stalled out in heavy traffic. It usually starts right back up, but at times it takes a minute or a few tries at times. The engine went out at 50,000 miles and was replaced and then went out again at 105,000 miles. Same issue. Have contacted Hyundai and they will not do anything to help me. Engine stalled on freeway first time and almost caused a collision, 2nd time on freeway stalled at freeway speed and almost caused another collision.

On a brand new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, the engine stalled twice while driving the vehicle at low speeds into/out of a parallel parking space on a village street. I had to restart the engine in order to continue maneuvering the vehicle. This was very dangerous as I could have been hit by oncoming traffic.

Stopped vehicle on side of neighborhood road on moderate downward incline. Placed vehicle in park and at idle. A few minutes later, shifted car into drive and proceeded to pull out into roadway. Vehicle seemed to lose power steering as well as power braking. As the vehicle turned a corner, it lost acceleration (car slowed to a stop as accelerator was pressed) , and tachometer decreased to zero. Pulled to side of road as car slowed to a stop. Total distance car travelled at this point was about 75 feet). Put car in park and turned off engine. Waited for a few minutes, restarted engine, placed car in drive and drove home ( about 40 feet). Problem: car engine stalled, cause unknown.

While driving on a busy street, I slowly turned a corner and suddenly lost my power steering and brakes and the engine stalled out. I immediately turned off the engine, sat briefly blocking the heavy traffic, after being slightly shaken in the incident, started it up again and proceeded to park and get lunch. After lunch, the car started up ok, I got on the road and shortly after, I noticed the engine light come on so I immediately limped into a nearby car repair place . They determined that there was very heavy sludge clogging the oil filter, even though we had regular maintenance on the vehicle and never had any engine indicators ever come on before. They cleaned out the sludge in the engine and replaced the filter and pump. Now that I am reading about everyone's engine problems with oil not getting into the engine, and after hearing on tv about Hyundai refusing to recall my particular car, I am very afraid to continue driving it, since recently I have experienced twice a certain sluggishness/dragging with a slight knocking feeling in the steering wheel. I noticed this effect twice after having driven the car at speeds of 60-70 mph for a long period of time. Each instance, I slowed to the side of the road, checked to see if I could see anything obvious, which I didn't, started up again onto the highway. The weird dragging and shimmy continued, so I drove at or under 50 mph until it slowly dissipated and went back to what felt normal. I was very disappointed to find out that there is no recall on my Hyundai santafe 2012, we bought it second-hand from enterprise car sales. I rely heavily on this vehicle to drive 2 1/2 hours each way at highway speeds to care for my elderly mom's needs in baltimore. I don't want to die on the highway before my mom dies in the nursing home!.

Randomly, from a stop, when accelerating the engine temporary stalls or hesitates for 1-2 seconds. This very dangerous and scary. It has been happening since the car was new and the dealer refuses to recognize the problem. It has probably happened 50 times or more. Online searches show many complaints of the same issue with all models with the 2. X turbo engine.

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport. While driving approximately 45 mph on a ramp to enter a turnpike, the engine stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart. When the contact slowly depressed the brake pedal to come to a complete stop, the failure recurred and the vehicle stalled without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the failure was related to a timing jump and an excess of sludge in the engine. The dealer suggested that the engine sludge caused the failures. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

To whom it may concern, two weeks ago my 2013 Hyundai santafe sport turbo (which I purchased new in 2013) experienced an engine stall as I was driving on the freeway. I was able to coast to the side of the road and then experienced an engine fire that has caused extensive damage. The fire was extinguished as quickly as possible, but not before extensive damage had been caused. I had my car towed to my local auto shop and they have quoted the damage in excess of $2,000 and indicated that they believed the fire was due to a short in the electrical system. Upon doing some quick research on the internet, it seems that my experience is not uncommon. I see that an official investigation was opened in July 2018, yet there has not been a recall yet. If a recall had been issued, I would not have experienced this loss. Please let me know what course of action I should be taking. Thank you for your assistance.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2. 0 with 8500 miles on it. Since I took possession of this car, I have been having repeated occurrences of engine stalling coupled with the traction control light going on. This happens when I make either left or right turns into traffic: acceleration stalls completely for 2-3 seconds, and the traction control warning light flashes. I cannot get the car to accelerate at all, even with the pedal fully depressed to the floor. The engine revs extremely hard, but the car does not accelerate. This happens on completely dry pavement. There is something seriously wrong with the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, and someone is going to die as a result of this problem. I have come close to being rear ended multiple times, and I have nearly been t-boned when taking a turn in front of on-coming traffic. I have researched this problem online, and it is wide spread with hundreds of identical complaints. This needs to be addressed immediately before someone dies in the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

While driving and making right turn engine stalled lost brakes and steering, was able to stop in middle of road with traffic coming up fast, put in park re-started. This second time within a year.

Stepping on the accelerator causes the traction control light to blink and the engine to effectively stall out for a few seconds. When the throttle does engage after the hesitation, it is in a violent manner. This happens more frequently than not, and is incredibly dangerous. I've owned this vehicle for over a year and have 20,000+ miles on it. This is a reoccurring issue. Had I been aware of this site, I would've filed a complaint immediately.

While driving at a slow speed in a parking lot, the vehicle engine stalled and the driver lost the ability to steer or otherwise control the vehicle.

As I am driving my 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe down the highway at normal speed limit of 55 my engine stalls with no warning sign. . Very dangerous luckily I wasn't hit. . This is the third time this has happened the first time the car went to the shop and they said it was just the battery and nobody can figure out what's going on. . Recall for 2014 Hyundai santa re engine stalling. I checked to see if my car was part of this recall and it is. The manufacturer does not have a fix for the recall, which can increase the chance of a crash.

My 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe keeps randomly stalling out. This has happened at least a dozen times in the past year. This has happened while merging onto the freeway, while making turns onto busy streets during rush hour after being stopped at a light, making turns after decelerating, no particular pattern. There is also no warning whatsoever! when the engine stalls out, I lose my power steering, thus basically having minimal control of the vehicle. I took my car directly into the dealer after this happened twice in one day. I was told that they could not replicate the event. I was then told that they could try replacing the throttle body and that it may fix the problem, but they were not sure because they did find a problem. As I stated before, this has happened at least a dozen times in the past year. There is a problem. I do not feel safe driving my car many times because I do not know when it is going to stall.

Engine stalled (died) when attempting to cross 3 lanes of traffic. This occurred 2 times when on vacation. Vehicle was returned to dealer for service. Dealer had vehicle for over a month and said they couldn't duplicate problem. During this time there was a national recall issued by Hyundai for Santa Fe. I thought are problems would be solved. But was informed that the recall only covered upto production year 2015. We received a 2017 Santa Fe loaner for use during the time they assessed our vehicle, this vehicle also stalled. I reported this to the service Mar. He said he couldn't do anything until Hyundai authorized a recall for 2017. I told him that they probably won't until they sold off all their new vehicle inventory. We took our vehicle home. 1 day later the vehicle stalled when my wife pulled out on to a busy highway. These vehicles are a significant safety hazard.

Engine stalling at slow speeds. Further, at slow speeds, there is a significant delay of several seconds for power delivery. For example, if driving slowly, say at 5 mph, and power is needed immediately (such as in an emergency or a lane change situation), nothing happens for over 3 seconds when the accelerator pedal is depressed, followed by a dangerous lurch when power is delivered suddenly. This is a highly dangerous and unacceptable condition. I spoke to the dealer, who dismissed my complaint and claimed that "all cars are the same these days". This is a regular problem that occurs multiple times every day.

Engine stalls at any speeds while driving. Tech at dealership could not find the problem. Dealership stated they never had a problem like this before. The engine is a 2. 0t which was subject to recalls for the same problem. Hyundai currently settling class action suit for Hyundai sonatas with the same problem in model years 2011-2014 2. 0t engines. Speeds when occurring 40-65 mph. Eleven incidents so far since purchasing the vehicle 4/8/2016.

The vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was later towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs were aftermarket and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,371.

Engine stalls while driving at slow speeds and at highway speeds. Rpms go to zero. Been in shop twice - once cant duplicate problem, 2nd time replaced fuel pump near gas tank. Currently in shop for same problem.

When driving and you hit the breaks, the vehicle attempts to stall, or if you use the high or low breams the radio shuts off and the gps turns on or you loses it all, while on high way way if you use your high or low beams the engine starts to stall then keeps going causing the vehicle behind you have to break quickly to avoid hitting you as you loose all power for a matter of seconds this happen while moving or parked, I mhave installed two new alternators in the past three weeks and the problem coniinues.

On Monday, July 14, 2014, my wife rode her Santa Fe on a straight road accelerating slightly uphill when the engine stalled. On thurs. Dec. 5, 2013, I had a similar experience, which I reported to you at the time. This is the second time this has happened with this car. Again nobody touched the ignition key which has nothing hanging on it except the alarm and door lock dongle. My wife also suddenly lost power steering and power brakes, and luckily there was no other traffic, which could have caused an accident. She was able to bring the car to a safe stop and then was able to restart the engine and continue her trip. The 2010 car had a full tank of gas and has about 50000 miles on the odometer. It's awd and has a 6 cyl. Engine. Could this be related to the ignition switch problem that has plagued so many gm cars? needless to say we are worried driving the car because if this incident occurs at high speed, a serious accident could be the result.
