36 Engine Failure problem of the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/20/2017

Engine seized-needed complete replacement; $3,344 paid to waikem Hyundai canton, OH- engine light came while driving and car stalled. Never started again, towed to waikem Hyundai, denied warranty coverage stating no proof of adequate oil changes, even though many published reports of Hyundai Santa Fe engine failures. I believe engine recalls exist for 2014, one year away from our 2015- believe issues obviously weren't fixed and Hyundai not being accountable for their mistakes. Owned many, many vehicles over many years. . . None ever had complete engine failure like this Hyundai. Repair receipt available upon request. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

Failure Date: 09/16/2017

My vehicle was involved in the engine recall which caused the vehicle to completely shut down due to engine failure. After having the engine replaced by a Hyundai dealership, the vehicle continues to intermittently loose power without notice. Although, the tachometer reads 7000 rpm, the speed is 20 mph with the pedal to the floor boards. This happens without notice and has happened on interstate highways with cars speeding buy! we have to pull over and shut it off and then restart. Then it will be fine til next the next time. The local Hyundai dealership has not been able to correct the problem although they have replaced several things. It is an ongoing problem.

39 Engine Failure problem of the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 06/07/2017

Purchased vehicle new 6/15/12. We changed oil at proper intervals. I noticed when we first started car a tappet noise coming from engine. No lights shown on dash. I immediately took it to the nearest Hyundai dealer in fear of causing damage to engine. They kept car for about 4 hours . They called and told us engine was gone. We purchased extended warranty at time of purchase. They told us sludge was in engine. This was caused by owner neglect. Found numerous owner testimonies on line which the same thing. Hyundai has numerous class actions suits on them. They have major manufacturing problems with the cleaning process with metal filings left in engine. Look on line under Hyundai engine failures there are numerous websites regarding this issue. Consumer needs to be made aware of this if they don't already. Word of advice , stay far away from Hyundai. They don't stand behind their so called warranty. The extended warranty is not even worth the paper its printed on. The best thing they could do is take care of all complaints against them and then go bankrupt.

48 Engine Failure problem of the 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 11/03/2001

The vehicle has stalled twice while driving up to speeds of 60 mph. There is no power, no gas, nothing. The second time it stalled I was in the caldecott tunnel, highway 24, berkeley CA. Driving at a speed of 60 mph. There is no place to pull over for safety. Thankfully the tunnel is on a downhill slope, and I was able to coast out of the tunnel and pull over to the side of the road. The tunnel is an extremely dangerous place for engine failure. The first time I experienced engine failure was on a two lane road outside of antioch, CA. At night driving by myself. It is an terrifying feeling to be driving at speeds of 55-60 mph and have the vehicle shut off completely. There is no warning. I have taken this vehicle in several times for service, whining timing chain, several times, and each time the vehicle was not repaired. Now with the engine stall problems I am very afraid that I or others driving with me as well as other vehicles on the road may injured or worse killed due to this major defect in this car. I babysit my grandchildren on a regular basis and fear for their safety as well. I tried contacting Hyundai at their 1800 number and there was no extension available to speak to someone in order to file a claim. Also after waiting 20 minutes to get through it sent me to voice mail. The car is now at Hyundai in concord, California waiting for service. I was without a car for one week the first time it was supposedly repaired after the first stall. Besides being fearful of my safety and the safety of others I will now have to go without a vehicle again for a length of time. Dt.
