Oil is not sufficient. I'm losing oil fast and there is not an oil leak. I'm hearing a rattle noise. My radio changes media modes on its own.
I currently have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata hybrid with an active loan. I took my car to a local dealership from carmax's repair pal certified shops because my car was shaking and producing a rattling sound. I drove my car to the car repair and was later told my car is no longer starting up and they needed me to get it towed off their lot at my expense. I towed the car to a Hyundai repair shop. I was told that my engine is dead and I need a new one. The quote was approximately $10,000 to get a new engine. The insurance company refused to pay for the engine. My car now sits in front of my home (inoperable) while I'm paying off the loan. I cannot afford a new car. I was not told about an engine recall for this model.
I was driving on the freeway when my 2012 Hyundai Sonata began making a rattling sound and lose power and the engine died. There were no check engine lights, oil lights or overheating gauge indications prior to this. As I was pulling to the side of the freeway smoke began coming from under the hood. When I stopped on the side of the freeway and opened the hood, the bottom portion of the engine was on fire and I could see the flames coming out from underneath.
Issues with loud rattle noise coming from engine when accelerating over 40 mph. Called Hyundai dealer service dept. & made appt to get inspected. Service rep claimed the mechanic heard no noise, so I had to go drive car with mechanic to identify noise. (noise obviously noticeable) after driving car with mechanic he said the cvts needed to be replaced. I took my recall notice for NHTSA # 15v-568. I asked if this was due to metal debris left in engine they said no. They gave me a rental. Took 2 weeks for cvts to be replaced. About 8 days later after Hyundai returning car the noise was back. 3 weeks it got worse, called Hyundai dealer, took it back. The service rep. Again claims they dont hear anthing. Have to drive my car again to identify noise to mechanic. Its very frustrating. There still is no solution to rattle noise, recall or have they inspected my car properly for the car issues I am experiencing & reporting to them. The car stalled on my way to drop it off. Rpms increased but car did not accelerate. Let off gas pedal then tried again serveral times finally the car puttered & proceeded. My daughter was in the car with me so it was a scary situation for the both of us. I told the service rep what just happened. Left my car & they gave me rental. I have experienced loud noise from engine since I bought the car new in December 2011. Was told that the car is supposed to be loud & make the rattle noise bc of eco engine. As the years have gone by the car's performance has worsen. It has stalled several times. I dont feel safe. The car only has 45,000 miles. Ive had several issues battery, steerling wheel , radio, etc. . Bad experinces. Ive maintained the car with proper oil changes, reported all issues on file with Hyundai service dept . Hyundai needs to take responsibility & fix the problems with their cars & find a remedy to thier engine recall ASAP. Safety is important.
Engine rattling sound upon acceleration and oil burning fast. Brought into dealership 3x for the same concern. Twice while it was still under warranty. Sent home saying they couldn't figure it out. Even assured us it was nothing serious. On third time (60,800 mi), car burned through oil and oil light came on, rattling sounds came back, stereo stopped working, car died (new starter needed). Dealership inspected it and said they figured it out this time (how convenient that they finally did right after the warranty expired), suggested a brand new engine. Says there was tons of sludge and metal shaving in the oil. They cited 'owner neglect'. We provided them every documentation of maintenance and consistent oil changes. Denied honoring our warranty. Did research and found 2011-2012 Sonatas have a manufacturing engine defect. People all have same issues and outcomes with their cars. Hyundai will not even look at our proof of maintenance and continue to deny there is an issue with their engine.
