Clicking noise when steering, turning, and driving into a parking spot. Never heard any other car making clicking noise before this car and I have driven many different make and model cars! Hyundai should issue an order to recall this problem. I have seen many Hyundai Sonata owners experiencing the same problem. This problem started about 6 months ago.
Knocking noise when turning the steering wheel. Sounds like it's coming from the steering column and after research, seems to be a very common problem in this type of vehicle. Notice it while traveling at slow speeds, going over bumps and while turning. Mostly used for city and highway driving.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and for the past year and a half every month I'm having to replace the driver side brake light it keeps burning up and melting I have contacted Hyundai numerous times about this with no resolution to the problem from them. . For the past two years my steering column has been making a weird clicking noise in the steering is extremely loose I have contacted Hyundai about this situation as well and have taken the car to a mechanic for both reasons the brakes and the steering and they say that they are constantly having people with high on days come in with these exact same problems.

I am having a clunking noise coming from the steering coupler when turning right or left, primarily at a stop or low speeds. I have read numerous complaints from earlier years, but the owners were told that no recall has been required by the NHTSA. I am experiencing a potentially dangerous situation on a 2012 vehicle with less than 2500 miles on it. A recall should be activated by the NHTSA.
The car making very bad clicking noise in the steering column.

I purchased my car from a Hyundai dealership in July 2014 with approximately 21,000 miles. I do not drive it very often as I work from home. Currently, it has about 61,000 miles. Recently, I have noticed a clicking noise when turning my steering wheel left or right (stationary and in motion). The steering wheel also rattles very loudly when driving on the interstate at high speeds or going over speed bumps. I was told that the coupler is worn and that it would be $300 to replace (parts and labor). I have had my car for a short time and am very disappointed to have to replace something that is not a direct result of driver negligence. Apparently, this is a very common issue which has been recalled in the 2011 model. Hyundai should definitely pay for these repairs as it is evidence of poor workmanship.
I noticed quite a bit of play and a clicking noise in the steering of my son's car. Upon taking it to my wonderful mechanic, learned he's seen at least 4 Hyundai Sonatas in the past month with the same issue. He said he believed it was a recall so I should take it to the dealer. When talking to the service manager at the dealership, he was almost certain of the problem as he's seen more of the same than my mechanic. He said it's not a recall and I was misinformed (but kudos to my honest and forthright mechanic for not being greedy). The problem, both of them told me, a wearing of the pictured rubber gear deep inside the steering column. My mechanic showed meld the old and new parts noting if this had been left and continue to wear, the steering wheel would have turned but the tires would not have! I am sickened this recall has not come to fruition. Hyundai needs to expedite the issue of a recall before more people are injured and/or killed.
Popping noise when turning the steering wheel left or right while the car is in motion especially in a tight maneuver when parking or backing up. After reading about many complaints on the internet where some drivers have even lost t;heir power steering completely, I am of the opinion that a recall is warranted as this is definitely a safety issue. The culprit in most of the complaints seems to be an inexpensive part made of rubber or neoprene called a "flexible motor driven power steering coupling". As this part begins to fail, serious steering problems begin to appear which could lead to injury or even death.
As many other complaints on the internet and the nhsta site my Sonata makes a clunking noise when turning the steering wheel. The 2011 Sonata was recalled. Why are the later years not when apparently the same issue exists. This is dangerous and needs to be repaired by the manufacturer. How many complaints will it take for the government to take action? how many deaths? the noise is made when turning the steering wheel to the left and right.
75,000 miles , Hyundai dealership informing me I have a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel. Apparently it is a common problem with a plastic spider gear and dealership wants $489 to replace. Car could lose steering control. I see on the internet this is a widely reported issue but no recalls?.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
Clunking noise in steering wheel. Research indicated it was a common problem with these vehicles. A plastic coupler fails in the power steering assist motor located on the steering wheel shaft underneath the dash. Dealer replaced the $3. 72 part and labor was $371. 42. Hyundai is aware of the problem and stated it was a common issue. This vehicle was bought new and the mileage when repaired on Feb. 1, 2017 was 42892.
Clicking noise in the steering column, that gets really bad when going over bumps and makes the car hard to control while driving. When car was taken to dealership they advised they believe a recall will happen in the future because so many cars are having this problem. They say its the rubber steering coupler.
Steering was clunking noise while turning with excessive moving control.

My steering column makes a noise , a clicking sound when you turn it.
Had issues of knocking/rattling noise while driving or hitting bumps. Dealer told me it was the steering spring coupling. Had it replaced and less than one year, the problem has arisen again. At first, the rattling sound would be heard only while driving over small speed bumps or uneven terrains such as a brick driveway, but now it can be felt and heard while driving either on the freeway or local. There is also a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel to the right or left. Again, this part was replaced less than one year ago for $300+ and the problem has arisen again.
Steering has excessive play and makes a clunking noise when steering left or right. There is also a loud clattering noise when driving over bumps.
The Hyundai dealer replaced the steering coupler on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata on October 26, 2016. He said when driving the car into the maintenance garage, he heard the steering coupler making noise, checked it, and found that it was faulty and was a safety hazard. The car has 66,000 miles on it and is driven mostly at low speeds in city traffic. In view of the driving conditions and limited mileage, I wonder if the failure of the steering coupler suggests a design flaw.
When turning the steering wheel to the right or left either moving or sitting still there is a loud clicking noise coming from the steering system. After some research I found that the $3. 00 steering coupler is failing which will lead to the total loss of power steering assist. This started at 82,000 miles. I contacted the dealer and was told that it would cost $276 to replace the part. Because this part is made of rubber and has a high failure rate I do not know why a safety recall has not been issued. The loss of steering control is definitely a safety issue and should not be something that the dealerships can use to exploit the consumer.
The first issue is that my car will not start sometimes. Then after a minute or two it will start. I have the push button to start my car. It is beginning to happen more often in the last 6 weeks. The second issue is that my steering wheel is making a clicking noise when I turn the steering wheel. It happens all the time.
Clicking noise from the steering wheel while turning, driving, excessive vibrations while driving at speeds over 50 mph and sometimes while accelerating.
Car started making a loud clunking and rattling noise in the steering wheel column driving over bumps or tracks. When the car was stationary and in neutral, the column was very loose when turned. Steering while driving became extremely loose and a safety concern. The problem was diagnosed as a bad flexible coupling which needed to be replaced.
The steering column make a horrible rattle sound when going over bumps and also makes a popping noise when you turn the steering wheel to the left and to the right.
