4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

My wife purchased her 2014 Hyundai Tucson brand new and we have maintained regular oil changes and kept up with maintenance schedules. Her Tucson is at 115k miles and is burning a lot of oil with no leak and no additional white smoke from the tail pipe. Its burning about 2. 5 to 3 quarts of oil every 1500 miles (conservatively). I have tried high mileage oils and thicker weights to reduce the burning. I have tried lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. Nothing seems to keep this vehicle from chugging down oil. My concern is that most of the other complaints were due to the engine seizing due to lack of oil. Do we know why these engines are burning so much pr how we can change that? my hope for this complaint is to help others before they burn up their engines not realizing how fast their engine is burning oil.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/28/2018

July 2018 car began making noise when turning on and backing up. The noise went away when I began to drive. Took to dealership for oil change and they couldn't diagnosis the problem. Problem began getting worse, mentioned it at next oil change. Now mind you, I drive a lot!! car is 2 years old and has 83k. Between July and December 2018 the car received minimum of 4 oil changes all done at the same dealership who says it's normal even when I complained of smelling gas. After returning to va from mi, the lights on the dash all turned on while driving, speedometer jumped where ever it wanted if it wanted to move at all. Took to nearest dealership, diagnosis was bad vacuum pump. It was replaced and said all my driving issues and gas smell would stop. Nope. . . . Took back in, diagnosis is faulty exhaust manifold. Replaced. Two weeks later it starts to act up again like it did the first time.

7 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2007 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 01/07/2011

After driving the car and the engine is turned off it will not crank again immediately. It takes approximately 15-30 minutes for the car to cool down before starting again. In starting the car again, fuel smell is very strong and the car shakes with black smoke coming from the exhaust/tail pipe. The dealer was able to duplicate. In addition, when feet is on brakes, the transmission revel up as if the car is going to take off. This happens when applying the brakes and coming to a stop. The dealer has duplicated the cranking problem. I was told several components were being replaced only to find out that if the fuel pump, fuel pump wiring, cleaning of corrosion from the wiring harness was done, the car still would not crank after driving the car and turning it off. After calling the consumer affairs office several times and was told that a case manager would call, the case manager never called. The dealer requested a field engineer. After the fuel smell continue to worsen, telephone consumer affairs for the fourth time. This time, the first responder answering the phone laughed when I told her that I was afraid of driving the car and feared that it would catch on fire or blow up according to mechanics. The representative snickered! she told me that the field engineer determined that the wiring harness had been damaged when I supposedly pre-wired the car for an after market alarm system. He decided to void the warranty so the dealer stopped trying to figure out what is wrong with the car. I was told I had to fix the wiring harness. The problem with this conclusion is that I never had an after market alarm put on the car nor did I buy a car with an after market alarm system. I have experience the problem from January 2011 and continues to experience. I called for the ceo of Hyundai who never responded. The case is with regional who has yet to call.
