This car has stalled 9 times while I was driving. I live in a very busy, densely populated area where car stalling in the middle of streets can get me badly injured or killed. The car stalls in drive, while I'm braking, and slowly coasts along about an extra 2 feet before completely stopping. I cannot tell that it has stalled because I can't hear the engine, and the dash always says "run" with all the lights lit up. Also, lane assistance comes on when no cars are around and the car just starts braking on its own and slows down with loud bells ringing and flashing lights on the inside of the car. I turned lane assistance off, but it stills comes on by itself. I'm afraid to drive it, but it's all I have and in this city you need a car to get around because nothing is close to home.

While attempting to do a u-turn on two different occiasions once the u-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a u-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly.

I changed both batteries on my truck and a blown fuse & it still wont start. Cant figure out why the fuse & replacement one keeps blowing out. Only signs come on the dashboard after changing both batteries are the electronic throttle control warning light & engine check light.
On 8/26/25 I got the 88a recall fixed on this Jeep at duluth Dodge in duluth mn . . I left dealership and my ac stopped working brought it back they fixed and it and got it working now on 8/30/25 I’m at a stop light and my Jeep stalls, it went to go start for me to drive and it died. The emergency brake came on and I couldn’t get it off the state trooper actually helped me get it off. Had to get my vehicle towed to my house. All lights come on but it says “blind spot alert temporarily unavailable “ check engine light is on and my Jeep will not start. I was stranded on a busy road at a stop light with my child in the car . I know this is due to the recall cause my Jeep ran just fine and did not have any issues until this recall was “fixed”. This recall actually has my Jeep not working at all. All failure lights came on after my Jeep stalled and wouldn’t turn back on. From what I’m reading this is exactly what happened to other people . Please fix this.

The contact owns a 2025 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while her son was driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact stated that her son observed that the check engine and the forward collision avoidance warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that her son stopped and turned it off and restarted the vehicle, but after shifting to drive(d) and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The contact called for a tow truck, and the vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated the vehicle lost power again, with the check engine and forward collision avoidance warning lights illuminated, with several other unknown warning lights. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer who advised the contact that a software update had been performed, but had not informed the contact what software had been updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that there was an electrical spike or surge intermittently coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,300.
Key fob not found, tpms not reading but sensors are good, backup camera beeping when things are not behind and continues to beep in drive, engine stalling, worn motor mounts due to no reason.
Driving down a busy street going about 40mph and the car spontaneously turned off and completely lost power while I was driving. It was off for less than a minute and when it turned back on the yellow “start/stop function “ dashboard indicator light was on. The car restarted on its own but that light remained on until I got home and turned the car off. When I turned the car back on the light was gone. It has not happened again, I took the car to a local Jeep dealership and they said it might be a battery issue. The car is available for inspection. Nobody was hurt but I am concerned because if this were to occur on the highway it in a location where I was not able to pull over it could cause a serious accident as the car was driving at 40mph at the time of the incident and then completely lost all power without warning.

When driving on expressway at about 70 mph. Engine light comes on. Car loses acceleration. Start stop states it’s unavailable. Have to pull over on side of road and turn car off. Restart car and it drives normally with engine light on. Took it to a local dealership and they stated it need ed a software update. They then test drove the car and problem did not reoccur. The very next day while driving on the expressway again at about 70 mph. Same problem has occurred. The car has 26,996 miles on it as is still under warranty. How can a software update cause a car not to function while driving. If we would have been in a middle lane and unable to pull off on side of road we would have been required to stop and turn off car in the middle of the expressway.

Traveling approximately 45-50 mph on two lane road (speed limit 55. . . Had just accelerated from a 4 way stop) I had only been on the road leaving my residence for about 7 minutes. The display showed the temperature gauge rise all of the way to the top, the error message stating "high coolant temperature' (along those lines) and the car jerked enough to cause a decrease in speed. I was almost rear ended. This is a dangerous issue. Ive looked at several forums where they were reported (hopefully to NHTSA as well) to dealers and they had not found a reason yet. Batteries (aux and regular) were replaced last fall. Please tell me it wont take someone getting seriously injured for something to be done.

My 2019 Jeep Compass (VIN: omitted per instructions) experienced a serious powertrain issue where coolant leaked into the transmission, causing overheating and vehicle failure. The car became inoperable without warning at 74,000 miles. There were no prior signs or symptoms. A certified Jeep dealership confirmed a mechanical failure involving a faulty internal part that allowed transmission fluid and coolant to mix. Jeep denied full coverage despite it being a known issue among other owners. This is a significant safety risk, especially if the vehicle were to fail while driving. I am the original owner and the vehicle has been well-maintained with no accidents. A case was filed with Jeep, and a partial repair discount was offered, but the out-of-pocket cost is still unaffordable. This defect needs to be addressed as it renders the vehicle unreliable and unsafe.
I had to get my engine replaced a year after I got it. The vehicle has an overheating issue. The vehicle oil pressure sensor goes off. The emergency break comes on. I don’t know where the engine light flashes the ei had to get my engine replaced a year after I got it. The vehicle has a overheating issue. The vehicle oil pressure sensor goes off. The emergency brake comes on. I don’t know where the engine light flashes the ecs light come on the cooling and oil mix together out of nowhere.
Coolant temperature warning and sudden engine shutdowns. This has occurred multiple times in 3 months. Started when car was at 50k miles. We have been unable to control the vehicle in traffic when this happens. Dealership (dave denis Jeep-dayton, ohio) was unable to find a problem.
Electronic throttle control vehicle light came on my 2016 Jeep Compass dash as I was on vacation vehicle would not accelerate and turned off causing us to almost wreck and having to leave it on the side of the road and call a uber and get a tow. There is many reports of this issue it needs to be a recall.
For 6months I have a low oil pressure light come on before my oil change is due. Dealer has ran 3 oil consumption test pass/fail/pass the next one will fail as I had to add 2 quarts or oil this week and my oil change isn’t due for 2k more miles. There is no leak visible so it must be within the motor. As well as I have already replaced start/stop battery as well as main battery bc if the start/stop and it hasn’t been a year and the lights are back on and I can’t engage it. The oil issue start before the warranty went out the first time. Now I have no warranty and have to feed the car oil. It is ridiculous. This needs to be a recall. 2018 had a recall for this same oil issue. Now we need it for newer models.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, a message indicating that the engine was overheating was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and added water to the coolant reservoir. Additionally, the contact stated that the engine was not running properly while driving. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was a burned coolant mark underneath the engine. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
My start/stop system stopped working suddenly and it jerks forward almost stalling as it accelerates and decelerates. The radio glitches and flips between settings at a fast pace. It randomly loses power when accelerating and traction control flashes on dashboard. The check engine light came on for a few days then went off.
When driving my Jeep Compass, there have been numerous instances of the vehicle stalling out when slowing down or stopping at a light/stop sign. This has happened on busy roads, at busy intersections, and on country roads. When it happens, I cannot control any aspect of the vehicle; the breaks no longer work, I cannot turn the wheel, I cannot change gears or easily put it into park, and it takes multiple attempts to turn it off and back on. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the incidents occurring, which started on 4/22/2025. Today, 4/29/2025, I checked my oil level and found that it was extremely low, although it should not be and I'm not yet due for an oil change. The Jeep Compass is going through more oil than usual and there is no message or notification showing at any time. I believe that this is the cause of the issues, and makes it extremely unsafe for myself, my passenger and other drivers/vehicles as it has happened on the highway and at intersections, where it could easily result in a serious accident.
Theres a few issues with this car im a mechanic and ive done some research on this vehicle there are multiple safety concerns including the engine for the 2. 4l losing power while trying to accelerate, the abs system failing and electrical system throwing codes up that aren't actually an issue. I feel the whole car needs to be reassessed from the engine transmission all sensors and the brake system. There is a lot of issues with the new motor that was put in, including an issue with the 2. 4l motor which is the oil pump housing causing the vehicle to stall and to lose power while accelerating. This is a major safety concern and could kill someone. Please fix it.
I recently got the catalytic converter and 02 sensor swapped which removed the check engine light. My vehicle was running perfect. The I drive it today. Made a right turn, next thing you know the vehicle starts shaking and such and won’t go over 20 mph. I take it to the mechanic. They’re telling me the reader isn’t picking up the problem. Invalid data. I looked online and multiple people are having the same problem. My thing is I was overcharged charged 25,000 for this vehicle from sam at Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge on route 300 newburgh new york 2 years ago.
The car broke down the very first day I got it! the alternator had to be changed I took it back to auto connection where I got it from and they replaced it. Since then the car has been breaking down, I have had to pay for out of pocket for a new thermostat, another alternator, hoses, fuel pump, and I have only had the car a yr. Now it’s making a loud hissing noise after I just paid for brand new spark plugs and it’s not accelerating and ver 40/45 mph! which is costing me more money to pay for a uber to work and everywhere I need to go while still making car payments! my insurance doesn’t handle these repairs. I need immediate help please!.
Catalytic converter problem warning engine light keeps coming on. This has happened over several years. It now comes on everyday. It is now in shop to be fixed and code shows front converter is bad which includes the manifold.

While driving my vehicle the parking brake engaged itself and my vehicle stopped suddenly without me engaging the brakes. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they stated it was an issue with the emissions system that caused the vehicle to do an “emergency stop”. I paid the amount required by the warranty and they stated they fixed the issue. However, while driving in the freeway (approximately 75 mph), the vehicle began to have the same issue and began to stop while I was driving. My daughter and myself were in the vehicle, during high traffic and we were fortunate not to be hit while driving when this happened. I have contacted the dealership again to have them inspect the vehicle again. I am concerned there is a manufacturing issue that is causing this problem and I am afraid to drive my vehicle especially with my children in the car.
This has happened three times in the last 4 months. There is no pattern, rhyme, or reason to understand why this happens. Today, while driving on the interstate at approximately 60mph, my 2019 Jeep Compass (80k miles) jerked violently and displayed the “engine coolant temp high” warning message while the temperature gauges spiked. I coasted off to the shoulder. This could have caused an accident.
I was driving down the road going about 40mph. The car stopped abruptly and displayer low coolant warning. Car would not restart. I towed it to a local mechanic who replaced the auxiliary battery. Car has been working and hasn't shut off but warning lights sometimes pop up for a split second. I'm worried it's going to happen again while driving.
When driving the vehicle it has shut off the engine and stalled, it also shut off and a few milliseconds later restarted on the highway has done the multiple time.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle repeatedly jolted and jerked, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the crankshaft sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA action number: rq22002 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a distorted image while the vehicle was in reverse(r). The contact stated that the failure obstructed driving visibility and prevented the safe operation of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving at a slow speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle stalled. An unknown warning light was flashing on the gear shift lever. The contact restarted the vehicle; however, there was an abnormal humming sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Car starts fine. After the car gets up to operating team the car will just stop running, very dangerous in traffic as it cannot be sterred or hardly stopped. The lightning bolt symbol appears on dash then car just dies. I replaced 2 camshaft position sensors and 1 connector. Car was fine for 2 weeks then started acting even crazier. I scan obd2 but get no codes.
