Jeep Compass owners have reported 8 problems related to gas recirculation valve (egr valve) (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I seen on the internet there was a recall on my Jeep make and model for catalytic converter problems. . . I just had to spend a little over $4,000 in repairs because my vehicle caught on fire. When I got it to my insurance they couldn't find anything wrong but wouldn't start. When I took to garage they found that both my catalytic converters had disintegrated from the inside out and I had to replace both among other things. Is there any way I can get compensated? I have had it back from garage for few weeks and now am having problems with it starting.

Driving down the road, in neighborhoods, interstate, etc - random times the vehicle transmission will overheat up to 295 degrees, and cause the vehicle to stall engine wise. All power is lost to the gas pedal and I'm not able to accelerate. Sometimes the electrical will shutter, lights will dim. Another time vehicle was completely immobilized and all power was lost. The overheating and stalling has happened 4/5 times now - and all Jeep can tell me is they can't replicate the issue. The check engine light comes on, service transmission message, and overheat warning comes on as well. I've shown them pictures of the overheating temperature as well as error messages. They (Jeep service) has told me when they hook it up to their machine in service, it tells them nothing - so they claim they don't know how to fix it or what causes it. This car is a death trap waiting to happen. I do not feel safe driving this car. My car has been "in service" for 4 weeks now with no resolution in sight, and I'm being told since the issue can't be duplicated it's not a warranty issue and that I have to pay for the loaner I was given. I was told by the service advisor that they couldn't get the car temperature over 200 degrees, and that they cannot drive the vehicle over 65mph per their insurance policies. So, I told them I would drive the car for 20 mins, and bring it back to them over 200 degrees. I came back in 25 mins, and gave them the car at 230 degrees. The service advisor took the car immediately back to the shop to be hooked up to their "machine" and said he received no error message, even though the mechanic says the car should never go over 200 degrees. The vehicle transmission temperature runs over 200 degrees daily.

Engine stalls at any speed due to low oil. 2. 4 engine has excessive oil consumption to the degree of shutting down in between 5000 mile oil changes. Engine has 30,000 miles and uses 3 quarts between changes "apparently". Chrysler says 1 quart per 2000 miles!!! on a new vehicle, this is totally unacceptable!.

Just purchased this car. It has 73,000 miles. Driving in 100 degree temps going 75-80 and transmission green light comes on. Sounds like it can't change gears. I experienced a total loss of acceleration.

I was stopped for a red light at a busy multi lane intersection. When light turned green I accelerated and nothing happened. I turned vehicle off then on by stop/start button several times until vehicle engaged. Very scary. It just basically stalled. Several other things were affected such as instrument cluster indications that were never on before and will not turn off when I go on/off options for those displays. Running lights also suddenly will not work. Upsetting to say the least. Very dangerous. I am not sure but think the start/start feature may be involved as I had it on. It was around 90 degrees outside temp. Vehicle has about 11,000 miles on it.

Tl-the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing oil and the contact had to add oil . Additionally, while driving at various speeds the vehicle stalls. The oil pressure warning indicator was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer pellegrino Chrysler Jeep 241 glassboro rd, woodbury heights, NJ 08097 (856) 848-7474 who stated the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted who provided case number 58460594 and stated to have the oil consumption test. The failure mileage was 5,235 . Ap.
I was driving down the road doing 40 with 2 of my children when I lost all power control of my vehicle in 90 degree weather. I ended up on someones lawn and pulled up on my emergency brake to stop my car, only way. I ended up being towed home. Car started next day. Took to dealership they said it was throttle control sensor which they stated wasn't covered under warranty. Just this week I took to get its first inspection since purchasing and it failed for emissions. I was told by inspector this make and model had been failing for fuel system failure and to contact dealership. I contacted dealership who stated this is the first they're hearing of this issue and I wasn't able to schedule an appointment until next week and said that there may be a charge for me to fix???? I have also had to replace both rear hub bearings. I called the Jeep manufacturer who was absolutely useless as well and said certain things are covered under warranty and this may be one that isn't. This is absolutely ludicrous that I have a 4 year old car that failed its first inspection. I have a claim with them.

While getting off of pm shift, around 2330, I was driving and all of a sudden my car began to slow down only 3 miles into driving. I could not accelerate more than 15 miles an hour in a 40mph zone. The lightning bolt for electronic throttle control was flashing, then stopped, then my check engine and my anti skid(?) was lit up. I pulled over to a side street, put in park only to have my engine idle at 2k rpm. Thank goodness I had my phone and a friend with some car knowledge. Told me to leave in park and restart my car. Turned on and once I shifted out of park it happened again. He stayed on the phone with me for the rest of my drive home that took me 45min because of not being able to accelerate any faster than 15. A drive that usually would take me 15 minutes took much longer. Glad my kids weren't in the car because I almost got hit 2x by 18 wheelers coming off of the highway. Not to mention it was only 27 degrees out (without the chicago wind chill)and would have had to wait probably 30+ minutes for a tow or ride to pick me up had it not restarted. Beyond livid that there are numerous complaints about the same thing and nothing being done. Going to have to pay out of pocket for this fix, right before christmas, awesome!.
