1 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 02/19/2024

Car has been stopping while driving on major roadways. Requires a restart in the middle of a highway and does not even make it to the roadside to restart. Upon bringing it in to be checked, it had 0 but no reported leak and oil light did not turn on. Purchased used just 2 months ago and only drove 6k miles. Was told to change oil every 5k miles becuase this model consumes excessive oil. I searched and found this is a known issue however my VIN # does not show a recall.

2 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 02/27/2020

I purchased the car brand new. Since the beginning it was burning/leaking oil as I was often told, but car shouldn't do that. Yet dealership neither other oil change places never checked my vehicle for additional issues. Recently it got very bad and I went to a different dealership and thought maybe there they will check. They did some special procedure and found there is cracks in the engine that are causing the oil issue and may cause vehicle shut down and crash. They said it is manufacturer issue and it was faulty engine put in. My car is just little over 1. 5 year old but because I drive a lot unfortunately warranty doesn't cover it and there is somehow no recall on it. How is it possible there is no recall for such a major issue? ehhh. . . Please feel free to reach out to me or dealership with any additional questions. Or I can send diagnosis documents.

3 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 01/15/2020

Two days in a row the engine shut down less then one mile into my morning commute as I was turning onto the main road out of my development. The engine shut off, the steering became difficult, and the parking brake engaged. No warning lights came on, and nothing indicated why the car was shutting down. When taken into the dealer after the second incident in as many days, I was told the engine was low or out of oil and shutting down is a safety feature as is engaging the emergency brake in traffic. I wasn't due for an oil change for another month based on Jeep's recommended schedule, but I was forced to do one so they could verify the issue. I was also told the Compass has a new highly efficient engine and these new engines are so efficient they burn/leak oil, and I am to check my oil every 500-1000 miles and always have a quart in the car to top it off. When I asked why there wasn't a dashboard indicator the oil was low I was told the Compass does not have such an indicator. I am concerned for my safety, my family's, as well as other drivers as I do not know when the car will shut down again.

4 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

I have a 2018 Jeep Compass that I purchased earlier this year in February. Later on in October I started getting a low oil pressure signal more specifically it would signal whenever I turn the steering wheel while driving. I took it to a Jeep technician turns out it was leaking oil and needed a whole engine replaced (keep in mind 2018 vehicle). Fast forward to now (only two months later) my car started shaking then progressively went to not even turning on at all while driving on city road the serv 4wd light turned on. Now it's back at the shop.

5 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2017 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 12/09/2019

2 times the same incident occurred 6 months apart, once in June 2019 mileage 22046 and once in December 2019 mileage 28423. Bought the car brand new in 2017. Oil is dissappearing!! the oil pressure low light will flash on - there is a loss of power - while driving - no warning! then the light will go off. Drive to oil change business to have them check the oil level and the Jeep will be 3 to 3. 5 quarts low. No leak present or oil seen. Engine seems to slip while driving before this happens.

6 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

This would be the second time on this 2018 Jeep Compass with only 5000k miles that the vehicle consumes engine oil leaving it very low with almost no oil on the dip stick. First time it happened the vehicle only had 2000k miles. The first time I encountered a problem was on the freeway heading home when the check engine light came on. And the vehicle shook as well, as if it were struggling. The engine light went away but the next couple of times as I drove on the street the vehicle would turn off a few times. It would turn back on but it struggled a little to turn on. When I took it to the dealer at 2000k miles the dealer told me that they were unable to locate the problem on the vehicle. The vehicle doesnt leak any oil. They also did a few updates to the vehicle computer because if was in need of updates. Now vehicles is at 5oook miles and once again very low oil in engine. Currently the vehicle doesnt stall or have any lights on. I will be going back to the dealer again to get it checked about the consumption.

7 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 03/13/2019

I take my vehicle in for regular oil changes, however, on two occasions they service technicians have notified me that my oil is almost completely out. I have been getting my car services at the Jeep dealership. For some reason, my car appears to be consuming ridiculous amounts of oil and they don't know why. The just keep telling me to come back to get another oil change. I'm going through several quarters full synthetic quarts every thousand or so miles. The vehicle is not leaking oil anywhere; as I park in the same spots at work and at home and have seen nothing leaking. I have been notified from the dealership that this is a *separate and unrelated issue* to the electronic issues that are causing the vehicle to stall without notice, while in motion.

11 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2011 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 09/14/2014

Pls use this complaint Jeep Compass 4x2 year 2011, today, Sunday, sept. 14, 2014, I heard a noise bottom of my Jeep and found a long metal piece manufacture sticker cvt transmission use only Chrysler. It was a metal pipe transmission oil filler tube, hanging on the bottom of my car, dragging on the ground, while I was driving. I took pictures it has a hole in the metal tube. It started with the steering wheel becoming very loose and requiring to turn more than usual to the right or left, which may be caused from a different recall (components: steering: column, NHTSA campaign : 11v-315), I was never informed about this steering wheel recall. When I safely returned home, on internet noticed different Chrysler forums, ppl same issue Jeep Compass. I notice a recall wranglers with 3. 6-liter v-6 engines), having the same exact issue as I experienced with my Jeep Compass. So, I called Chrysler group llc recall dept. 800-247-9753 today sept. 14 2014. No recall for Compass. Recall for wranglers with 3. 6-liter v-6 engines. Frustrated my 3 year warranty ended last month Aug. 2014. Tomorrow, morning, tow truck Jeep, to local Jeep dealership and pay out of pocket. Chrysler recall dept. Said keep receipts if more people complain then there may be a recall just like the wrangler. The recall issue is exactly what happened to me. (per the wrangler recall solution: (wranglers with 3. 6-liter v-6 engines, Chrysler says a power steering fluid line can wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler line. The suvs can leak fluid, damaging automatic transmissions. Dealers will inspect the lines for free and replace them or install a protective sleeve. The recall begins in July 2013. ) recalling 221,000 Jeep wranglers worldwide from 2012 and 2013 to fix transmission fluid leaks, according to NHTSA.

12 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2011 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 09/14/2014

It starts with the steering wheel is loose and at first we had no idea what was going on. This issue I have with my Jeep Compass 4x2 year 2011, is the same exact recall on the Jeep wrangler stated below: I called Chrysler group llc, 800-247-9753 today sept. 14 2014. I spoke with the recall dept. They said the Compass, at this time does not have this recall. Only the wrangler below, which has the same exact issue as I do. So, I have to tow truck my Jeep tomorrow morning, to my local Jeep dealership, service dept and pay out of pocket. Chrysler recall dept said keep my receipts if more ppl complain then there may be a recall just like the wrangler has below. This is exactly what happened to me>>>>> but this is wrangler, not my Jeep Compass. Per the wrangler recall solution: (wranglers with 3. 6-liter v-6 engines, Chrysler says a power steering fluid line can wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler line. The suvs can leak fluid, damaging automatic transmissions. Dealers will inspect the lines for free and replace them or install a protective sleeve. The recall begins in July 2013. ) it's also recalling 221,000 Jeep wranglers worldwide from 2012 and 2013 to fix transmission fluid leaks, according to documents posted Thursday on the national highway traffic safety administration website. I am frustrated because my 3 year warranty just ended last month Aug. 2014. I researched on the internet and read a lot of other people encountering the same issue.

13 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2009 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

1) water leaks through the interior lights (near sunroof panel). Waterspots also on roof. I am worried that I'll get an electrocution at some point if I use my interior lights after it has rained/snowed. All options are factory. 2) clutch/transmission/engine need to be replaced at 49,000. This is a manual, and should not need to be replaced this soon. When you remove the oil cap, there is compression in the tank. This is extremely dangerous and needs to be replaced ASAP. Unfortunately, the only way to do this is get a new engine (or rebuild existing. ) this is completely unsafe and unwarranted for a vehicle so "new". Due to being a subsequent owner, this is not covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty provided by Chrysler/Jeep.
