Three problems related to transmission failure have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1999 Jeep transmission failure, had to be replaced at a cost of $3300. 00. Never has been off road, city driving under 64,000 miles.
Computer control of transmission failed, repairs are not possible. Transmission computer must be replaced.
Also had fuel pump failure in conjunction with transmission failure w/in the first year to year and a half of ownership of this vehicle. The dealer contacted Chrysler, but I was not eligible for lemon law coverage. They did extend the warranty on this leased vehicle. (dealership) I have never felt safe in this vehicle, and I cannot believe that we paid $32500 for something that is only worth less than $10000 today. Chrysler should buy these vehicles back from people, but they have been unwilling to assist.
