Air Bag Problems of Jeep Liberty - part 2

When driving through town the dash lights up completely with all the warnings coming on and the wipers turn on and won't turn off. The warnings include the brakes and airbags. This has happened 3 times in a few days. We had it diagnosed and they said it's the tipm module. This Jeep doesn't even have 100k miles yet and there are tons of reports of this issue online.

After a tire failure at 45mph on a parkway vehicle driver lost control and the vehicle rolled 1 complete time. No airbags deployed.

The air bag dash light has recently come on, after the mechanic tried unsuccessfully to reset it the same error message pops up. When the computer is connected it shows the only airbag affected is the one in the steering wheel. This vehicle has never been in a crash, much less anything to cause the airbag to deploy so it is the original. It stays on consistently anytime the key is in the on/started position.

Tl-the contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty 2wd. The contact stated that while her nieces was at an intersection. The contact nieces depress the accelerator without warning the airbag deployed. General insurance was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was not in a accident so no claim was made. No investigation this time. No dealer was contacted. Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, she became distracted and ran a red light. As a result, the contact was front ended by another vehicle that was crossing the intersection. The vehicle swerved upon impact and the contact applied her brakes to cease the swerving. The air bags only deployed once the vehicle was fully stopped, not upon impact. The contact' son was admitted to the hospital for observation, he had no major injuries. The contact had a cut on her leg that did not require medical attention. The contact was unaware of the whereabouts of the other driver. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard, the vehicle was not totaled and it had not been repaired. A police report was filed(#192113977), there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact stated that as soon as the vehicle was parked in front of her driveway, by her husband, the air bag in the steering exploded and emitted smoke, without warning and without impact. . I see there are two recalls in my vehicle - one for the air bags and second for the fuel tank having possible leakage. I live on an island and the closest dealer/repair shop that could do work is in another town that would take a week long trip to get there by boat, etc. Any suggestions.

My 2006 Jeep just stop working, came out of work and would not turn over,ecm box went bad on my Jeep. This is a common problem per my mechanic the on board ( brain ) computer ecu, ecm and ec box must be recalled or else this issue is on the purchasers like us. Fords had the same problem back in 96. Your part for may 2006 Jeep ecm can not be located anywhere in the united states, how is this possible????????.

I was driving on the interstate I started to approach a mac truck, I started to apply my breaks and I noticed I didnt slow down, so I kept trying, the check engine, abs, esp, and two other lights came on. I rear ended the trucked and my Jeep started spinning and I wrecked into the medium.

Recall r06: the air bag on my 2003 Jeep deployed on my daughter while driving on the highway. The air bag hit her in the chest and face. I called the Jeep customer line to let them know what happened and they said there was a recall for the airbag. I informed them that I never received a recall for the airbag. They told me the recall was from 1/2015. In 2015 I took my Jeep to the dealership 2 different times for recalls I had received. July 2015 and September 2015. So even if I didn't get a recall notice the dealership still should have seen the airbag recall wasn't done. I have been going threw hell trying to get the fca group to fix the airbag and do the recall. This is the response they emailed my after I told them what had happened (this will further acknowledge contact to fiat Chrysler automobiles (fca), regarding your 2003 Jeep Liberty. Naturally, we were sorry to learn of the incident described to us during the initial contact. However, we have had the opportunity to review your case and must inform you that we are not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility. ) this was unacceptable my daughter could have crashed the Jeep and died!! why would I lie about not get a recall notice that involves an airbag in 2015 but I had 3 other recalls done in 2015 after the airbag recall but no one noticed it wasn't done!!!.

I haven't had anything happened yet but I had a light on my dash that led me to doing some research which also led me to some recalls and what has happened to other people and it just worries me about my safety and for my children. I was inquiring about getting recall repairs made.

2003 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to airbag system occupant restraint control, fuel tank, front suspension upper control arm ball joints and lower ball joints safety recall. The consumer was unaware of all the recalls before being sold the vehicle. The dealer would not assist with the repairs.

We were involved in an accident on the NY state thruway 87. The airbags did not deploy and the seatbelts did not engage. If the airbags had deployed my husband would not have been injured as seriously as he was.

All my lights are on in dash(check engine,tire pressure,traction control,abs) when this happens my ac doesn't work. . . The gauages doesn't work. Test done by mechanic say communication failed. . .

All the lights stay on and wont go out the window will not go down or up.

My daughter was run off the road in her Jeep Liberty on a highway going about 70mph. . She hit a guard rail and rolled the Jeep. The only air bag that deployed was the steering wheel one and it only came out after she stopped rolling. None of the other airbags deployed!!! thankfully she is only bruised all over her body. Her seatbelt is what saved her. Luckily that worked. I have contacted Jeep about this and haven't heard back yet.

On 8-15-2018, I (driver/owner of a 2003 Jeep Liberty sport) was leaving my parking spot at a convenience store. When I put the vehicle in reverse, it immediately started speeding backwards. When I applied the brakes with all the force I could muster, it failed to stop the vehicle. The tires were squealing & black tire marks were left on the pavement. My vehicle stopped when I slammed into the front end of a parked car which was next to a gas pump with the driver inside. Fortunately nobody was hurt. No police report was filed but my insurance company was called immediately to report it. "takata recall" I went to the local Jeep dealership (bluebonnet Jeep in new braunfels,TX. ) with the recall notice in hand. The employee in the drive-up service lane called the office to verify if part was in stock. It was not. She made an appointment for 2 weeks from that date. I returned with my vehicle on my scheduled appointment date & was notified by a different employee that part(s) were still not available & was told that an individual needed to inspect my vehicle first but he didn't know when the inspector would be available to do it. I told that employee that they weren't serious about replacing the part(s) needed. So I got back in my car & drove home.

While applying brake & shifting to reverse, car accelerated in reverse at high speed with no throttle engaged. Brake was pressed the whole time and pumped to stop vehicle, there was no braking. A pole was impacted crushing vehicle. No warnings of this issue. This has left the family in fear of ever driving a Jeep. This was a Jeep Liberty 2006 with less than 70k miles. Well kept maintained vehicle.

Im writing to see if my vehicle still qualify for the recall and the Jeep is experience all the descriptions that are posted.

The airbag clock spring is needed to be replaced, it has to where all the lights come on the dash board and the part is only factory made at an outrageous price.

I was driving on a city street and highway when my upper and lower arms and ball joints just snapped in half also the whoke right side of tge vehicle has no electrical working the horn doesnt work so tge air bags dont work and the company I got the vehicle grom disabled my check engine ligjt so I have no clue what else is wrong with the vehicle the companies name is wheels of success the owner is susan jacobs she refuses to help me I have called sent emails text etc no response I got the vehicle from her in November 2016 I havent had it a year and I have paid for repairs that should of been done before getting it I have paid out more than the cost of vehicle this has happened twice.

Takata recall - my vehicle is 8 years old. A lot of problems have started to happen two years ago which I have paid out of my pocket considering it as age maintenance. Two years ago I was not going to pay dealer $800 cost to fix my front door locks that don't go up or down. I just do it the old fashion way. Recently my passenger front door has added the problem of the window button not working, which is a possible life safety of a person who could be forced to escape that way. Takata recall - now!!! starting in mid April 2018 my dashboard dinged showing picture of what looks like driver airbag circle and driver in a seatbelt. It went away a minute later. It then started happening sparatically twice a week maybe. In may 2018, it became every drive off and on the airbag icon showed up and would ding about five times during the day drive staying lit at 2 minutes most approximately. Now June 2018, it has become an automatic of light dings on and then off several times during a drive that could range from 5minutes to 20 minutes. I started to observe that it happens when I turn the steering wheel only slightly right, but now the last week it has happened when steering wheel is turned slightly left or right. I am now truly in fear of my bag exploding while I drive and/or it will not go off to help my injury I'm involved in crash. I have read the htsa sight of recall and complaints and another owner's story is a match similar to mine. . . . They are complaint NHTSA id number: 10986169. I have to go to the dealer this week for an appt for yet another problem with my vehicle and have to ask them to look at the airbag issue. . . . . . I believe no matter what the manufacturers should pay for fixing any airbag problem a customer comes in with!!! it should not be put as a burden on the owner and a true hardship to me because I have to borrow money to fix possibly.

Moon roof that came with the car not weather resistant. Entire roof came off during a drive.

Had a serious car accident last year and my Jeep was totaled and the air bags didn't go off.

Air bag cover is very sticky and feels like it stays this way no matter how much I wipe it down.

Takata recall I have been told by the Jeep dealerships that they have not been given the product needed to replace these defective airbags in my car. I do not feel safe letting family members or myself drive this car with the potential of the faulty airbag deploying. We need this car fixed because we need it to drive.

Takata recall: manufacturer numbert56 NHTSA recall number17v-640; took vehicle to hall Jeep autogroup: not told parts unavailable for repair - found out only by reading the receipt after 3 hours at dealer. Vehicle only has 69,285 miles and suffering failures: steering rack assembly: not told my steering failed an inspection - power steering leak noted on receipt; repair estimate $1,600. I had been driving under normal conditions and found out inadvertently when I brought my vehicle to dealer for airbag recall. Heat blower abruptly stopped working: power module determined to have shorted; repair estimate $235; normal driving conditions, suddenly stopped blowing heat.

Wednesday December 20 2017, my wife and I were driving east on hwy 10 during snowy condions, when we hit black ice at 50 mph. The vehicle spun 360� and hit a guard rail at 40-45 mph. The airbags in the vehicle did not deploy resulting major injuries to my wife (passenger) broken sternum and right broken tibia, which was corrected with major surgery and rehabilitation. The roads were snowy, traffic was at 45-50mph in a 60 mph speed limit zone. The accident happend on hwy10 e and ferry st in anoka minnesota. The Jeep Liberty is totaled and my wife is suffering from injuries would have been severe, would the safety airbags had deployed and kept my wife from moving forward into the dash.

Need orc module replaced due to a recall t56. Ran my VIN number and it states there is a recall and parts are available. Went to dealership and they state there is no parts available for my Jeep and will not be available until April 2018. Why is NHTSA stating there is a part available? I was told with this recall there is 14 different parts and my part cskdt562aa was not available. So am I going to have to risk driving my Jeep and pray I do not have a wreck? I have had a cervical fusion and very afraid to drive my only vehicle. Someone needs to step up and do something even if it takes loaning me another vehicle.

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and were not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Kh.

The dealer whitten brothers of richmond located at 10701 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 23235 was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy until April 2018. The manufacturer was contacted at 877-426-5337 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer stated that they were not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. A case number was provided but the contact did not have the case number. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Sj.
