June 13, 2013, third window regulator to fail within one year on my Jeep Liberty. Failed window regulators are front left and right windows, and left rear window. Very frustrated and disappointed with Chrysler and how they are handling a known issue. After speaking with several employees and manager at the Chrysler dealership. They have told me that Chrysler is aware of the defect but they are unable to repair the failed window regulators at no cost to me. Therefore I continue to drive my Jeep Liberty without any working windows which presents a safety issue in the event of an accident. I have no way of getting out of my vehicle and it's an inconvenience to pull up to drive thru without being able to roll down my windows. Chrysler, I'm sure you have heard this complaint many times. I would greatly appreciate if you would take care of your customer base and do a recall on these window regulators. Thank you.

All lights on veh flickered off for about 1-2 sec turned on and then quick flicker then on again and remained on. The first time I thought it was a fluke then it occured a total of 3 other times within the year. Last was just recently 1/20/2013 and it shut off for a longer period of time maybe 3-4 sec. I was distance traveling on a high traffic highway at night and now see the safety concerns. Since the first occurance I have replaced the battery. The entire light panel inside the vehicle as well as the exterior lights are affected. Other issues I have experienced since owning the veh in 2002 is the side passenger power lock no longer functions, still does not function. I have had to replace the passenger rear window regulator. In 2007, the glass just fell down one day did not break. Placed a stick in door panel to hold up glass and finally replaced it in 2011.

Blower motor failed may 2012. The car was so new that the dealership had to order the part. It was replaced and the heat works but there are a couple weird noises. One, it sounds like it is taxing my alternator like you would normally hear if there was an amplifier installed in the car. And two, on the dash/feet low setting it sounds like there is paper blowing in the wind and heat does not actually come out on the driver side feet until the car is completely warmed up. The dealership kindly replaced a door run channel, no charge, which eliminated some noise and a slight draft coming from the door. The rest of the overall noise was yet to be determined at this point.

This is my 5th time in 4 years! having to bring into the dealer to have the window fixed. Malfunctions and break down of electric window motors or regulators.

The rear passenger window regulator failed and the window dropped. It is currently being held in place with zip ties as the repair will be about $300. Both the passenger and driver front windows are slow to go back up and come off track. You have to pull them towards the back of the car to get them back up. I expect both to fail soon. I have read numerous complaints about this very issue.
Failing window regulator on a 2006 Jeep Liberty , Chrysler is awear of the problem , does not want to issue a recall, or do a good will fix . Est. To fix over $ 500.
While driving down the interstate, I heard a clunk. My back window behind driver had slipped down. I called my personal mechanic, not dealer, and he diagnosed it over the phone as the regulator. He told me it was common in Jeeps. While at the mechanic's, another customer said her father's Jeep had done the same thing. The mechanic told me to be glad that my window did not break. I was charged to replace the regulator $300. I have no children and my back window is never used. Too many people have spent hundreds of dollars for this repair. This is definitely an inferior product and should be recalled. Customers should not be expected to pay for this repair. I only hope I can get rid of my Jeep before I have another window regulator fail!!!.

Vehicle parked in driveway and the rear door windows just fall in to the inner door panel, must remove panel to retrieve window and brace up. If children were in the back seat I would hate to see what would happen. I don't understand with as many complaints I have read on line about this nothing nothing nothing has been done about this. I e recall make Jeep repair the problem, instead of the customer having to pay $750. Oo each time it happens, all over a $. 50 piece. Taking vehicle to mechanic to have the window regulators replaced.
The rear automatic windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty fall down into the door panel and cannot be raised with the regulator. This happened to me while I was driving and forced me to drive with an open window during a storm heavy rain, the rear interior of my car was damaged. I have had the rear windows repaired for the same problem multiple times, and they continue to break, at times that are unsafe. It also prevents me from properly securing the vehicle from theft until I can get to the dealer and they can "repair" it with the same defective part over and over again. You have so many complaints from many consumers about the same proble, but no recall. What are you waiting for a death?.
I was sitting at a red light waiting on light to turn, car completely shut off, smoke was coming out from under the hood. An emergency vehicle was sitting in front of me and they got out with fire extinguishers. When I raised the hood the fire flamed up more. There was a recall o4v337000 on the alternator could cause a fire under the hood. I never received a letter on this. I received a recall 2 0r 3 years ago and took it to Jeep dealer in kodak, TN. But it was not for this recall.
The rear drivrs side window regulator needs replcement as it is defective. The extended warranty nor the dealership will cover this very common defect which will cost me $450.
We own a 2006 Jeep Liberty sport, and the rear window regulator broke and had to pay $250 to the Jeep delearship to replace. In the bill we notice it read "updated window regulator" which made me do some research and apparently there are thousands of Jeep liberties with the same problem, but Chrysler will not recall the part. For us it was a safety issue since we have a baby in the rear seat who was exposed to the elements. Of course the car company and the delearships still charge you $150 for diagnostic (although they know exactly what it is) and $100 for the part plus other fees. Some people I found have had all windows replaced to a cost of aprox $1000 this is not fair, they know the part is defective, they should fix it. They do accept goverment money to be saved but the consumer is on its own. Please do something about this.
While driving my 2003 Jeep Liberty sport, I heard a loud and distracting thud, only to discover that the back window on the drivers side had fallen into the door. The door also became jammed and I was unable to open it from either the inside or outside of the vehicle. This happened to the other back widow just 9 months prior to this incident. At that time I took my vehicle to an auto repair shop, and paid to have it fixed. I have read several complaints about this happening in the Jeep Liberty. The issue is a cheap, plastic part used in the window regulator. This is a design flaw, and Chrysler will only replace this part with another cheap plastic part, rather than using a sturdier metal part. This is an expense issue as well as a safety issue. The noise the window makes when it falls is very distracting. All the doors and windows should be functioning properly in case of emergencies, and the driver should be able to control the windows, in order to avoid dangerous debris flying into the car, not to mention having some control over outside elements. (weather) Chrysler really should do a recall, and stop charging Jeep owners to fix what is their fault in the first place-it is a design flaw in the Jeep Liberty. Many reports from Jeep owners mention this happening to the same window, or multiple windows over and over. There ought to be a class action lawsuit against Chrysler.
1. There are not events leading up to the failure. 2. The rear drivers side window regulator. It has broken 3 times in two years. The consequence is that during times of extreme heat or cold, the window will stay down posing a health risk (in cold weather-cold related illness and in hot weather-dehydration) as well as a safety risk (outside debris entering vehicle at high velocities) to the rear passenger. 3. The regulator has been replaced three times: twice by dealership and once by myself. The old parts are not available.
Both rear windows fell into door cavity multiple times, window would not roll up by regulator motor, must be lifted by hand after removing interior door panel. Both regulators were replaced twice within 18 months, did not correct problem, both windows continued to fall & require removing interior door panel to lift. Defect occurs while vehicle is either moving or parked, leaves occupants and contents unsecured and/or susceptible to the elements, theft, and other hazards. Only method available to secure windows was permanently tying in closed position. >>> this is an engineering and/or manufacturing defect of a specific part the manufacturer is well aware of multiple failures. <<< the defective part needs to be redesigned so it does not fail multiple times.
In March 2009 I purchased a used 2006 Jeep Liberty and in August 2009 the driver side rear window stopped working just a loud clicking sound and then you can manual pull and push the window down. A new regulator/cable and window had to be installed. In March 2010 the same thing happened on the front drivers side window and the front passenger window. In July 2010 the rear driver side window stopped working again. Each time the windows stops working they need to replaced. Money out of my pocket, now my extended warranty is no longer in effect and the work that gets down only has a warranty for so long. There has to be a better fix then forking over $500+ each time a window stops working. It seems at this rate it's going to happened now every year. I am afraid to use the window at all. This needs to be addressed!!!!.
Rear window fell down and does not stay up, used a device to keep from falling down, 1 week later the other one fell down. Took to repair shop and was told the regulator was bad on both windows and needs to be replaced along with the window also. The reason for this is because the regulators were redesigned and it will cost over $800 to repair and was told the problem could happen again. No old parts are available have to put in new parts. The consequences of not repairing are the window can come down and someone can get in your car, the other solution is to have it fixed so it cannot fall down until you get the money to replace it.
This is the fourth time that I have had a window regulator problem. The second time on the same window. I have heard that it is caused from overuse but the only window regulator that has not yet needed to be replaced is my driver window which is the one I use the most! this obviously has nothing to do with it. It is simply a faulty part that they do not feel is significant enough to find a permanent solution for. I fear that it will happen when I am on vacation or something and a storm will ruin my car without my knowing or my car will be "broken" into or even stolen. I know there are many other people with the same issues happening multiple times but not everyone knows to report it. I hope that enough people complaining about the same faulty part will make them do something about it.
Window regulator on rear driver's side door failed. Regulator failure prevented the rear driver's side door from opening and made the door inoperable as an exit.
The window motor regulators fail extremely often--on average, one fails every 6 months. This sometimes happens while driving, and the window crashes down into the door. It is extremely distracting to hear the window fall while you are driving, the sudden thud could distract the driver enough to cause a crash, and any children or pets in the car are not only exposed to the elements, but are at risk of falling out of the vehicle. Other times, the window falls while the car is parked and the car is open for the world to enter. I have spent thousands of dollars on window motor regulators for this vehicle. I purchased it used in February 2009, the first window motor regulator failed less than 90 days later and one has failed every 6 months since. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge my requests or rectify the situation, despite a dozen mechanics having told me that this is a known defect.
At this first occurrence, while pulling out of the dealership parking lot with the vehicle, the front passenger side window dell into the door. I took it back and they informed me they would fix it free of charge. This same problem with the window falling down occurred in June 2010 about a year after purchase, affecting the right rear window, which had not even been used. I found out then that there was an ongoing problem with the window regulator in 2006 & 2007 Jeep Libertys causing this problem. The 3rd occurrence, with the left rear window in November of 2010, made me get online and file this report after carmax refused to honor their warranty on this repair and sent me to Jeep who charged 100 dollars for it. Checking the service history through Jeep. Com, I found that this vehicle had been in the shop for this problem at least twice with the previous owner. I would like for the Chrysler company to take full responsibility for this and issue a recall, repairing the problem in a way that it stays fixed, rather than replacing the window regulator with more faulty parts as they have been doing. This can be very dangerous and distracting if it falls while travelling down the highway or, in my case, over 2 hours from home in freezing temperatures with a 7 month old baby in the seat by the window.
2005 Jeep libery rear driver side window regulator failure, resulting in loss of power window function and inability to keep window closed. Regulator was replaced at cost to owner. At approx same time, rear window wiper motor failed, was not repaired due to cost.
Power windows failing to stay up due to faulty regulators: two years ago the rear left window of my 2003 Liberty fell into the door casing. When using the atomatic buttons, the window would not go up and the window motor would simply attempt to raise the window with no success. Upon taking it to the Jeep dealer, they stated the window regulator neeeded to be replaced. After paying $227. 94, my window was fixed and back to normal. Surprisingly, a few months later, the right window fell while driving on the highway (this is a major safety issue). Back to the same dealership we went, for a second and unnecessary diagnostic (the maintence man said this was a problem he had frequently seen) to determine the regulator was broken. I paid to have the second window fixed and continued to drive my car. This week, the left rear window fell again while driving down the street in my neighborhood (20 mph). I contacted Jeep headquarters directly after researching online (inculding the NHTSA website) that this is clearly not an isolated incident and they have neglected to address the saftey issue with their automobile owners. They are requesting that I take my Jeep back in for another diagnostic, and to confirm there has been no "neglect" of maintenance on my part. My Jeep has just over 65,000 miles – it is in perfect condition with the exception of faulty windows. Upon inspection of the dealer this week, Jeep says they will determine the next step depending on the results. This issue is dangerous for multiple reasons - children riding in the car, the frightening noise made from the dropping window, lack of security when parking the car/at a stop, weather (rain, hail, snow, etc. ), drivers startled by the drop and attempting to assess the situation while driving, etc. According to Jeep headquarters via phone, they dishonestly claim to be unaware of the situation.
I have had numerous issues with this vehicle. I have had to replace the cooling fan, three window motors, the alternator, head gaskets, the fuel pump sensor is broken, the oil sensor is broken, when I pump gas it spills out, the radiator, the electrical system on both the left and right side. The tail lights don't work properly and I have replaced both the lights and fuses as well as the sockets numerous times. These are just the things I can think of off the top of my head. I've spent thousands of dollars, literally, on this car. I feel like it's a death trap waiting to happen and can't wait until I am able to purchase something else, it won't be a Jeep product. Jeep doesn't care if you have numerous issues with their product. When I first started having issues I called the dealership I purchased from to talk to my salesman and I was asked what my mileage was. I was right around 48,000 miles, I was put off numerous times and told he would be who I would need to deal with. After I hit the 50,000 mark they informed me he had been murdered and I was not out of warranty. Each passing day seems to bring new problems with this vehicle. I just thought someone should finally know. I'm also not counting the recalls in on my list of issues.
Passenger side rear window regulator failed, causing window to slide down into door.

I bought my Liberty when it was a year old from a dealer. One month later, the drivers side window fell into the door. It was still under warranty, the dealer fixed it with new parts. A year ago in June 2012 the rear window dropped into the door. The rear windows are never even used. I had to pay a mechanic to raise it up and hold it up with duck tape because the regulator and repair is going to cost over $400. 00!!the window would slowly start to drop before it finally went into the door completely when I was driving and the noise from the outside was so loud I thought I was having a flat tire and had to pull over. Not to mention the constant attention I had to pay to make sure the window was still being held up with the awful looking duct tape! so angry and disappointed with Chrysler. I read online of so many other owners having this same problem. I could never risk putting a child back there because of this risky problem. D. G.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact was driving 50 mph when the vehicle exhibited an unusual clicking noise. The dashboard lights and headlights would shut off and re-illuminate sporadically. The contact had to utilize the high beams in order to see the road ahead. Two years later, the exact same failure occurred with the high beam lights. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic at least three times for the failure yet they were unable to duplicate the failure. The alternator was replaced by an independent mechanic. The contact stated that the clicking noise persisted following repairs. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.
We have had repeated failures on all of our window regulators since we purchased our Jeep. The first occurrence was in 2006. I would have to pull our repair file to get the other dates. We currently have another window out, it is taped up to keep things out. This is the window in the back behind the front passenger seat. This has already been replaced. The replacements don't even hold up. We are senior citizens. No one "plays" with the windows. We use our ac so windows are not opened and closed. They just fall down on their own. We can not afford to keep replacing the window regulators. The dealer said he thought there was a recall on this because it is such a big problem ,but I don't see anything here except window regulator complaints. When are they going to take this problem seriously?.
Window regulators keep on failing. I have had to replace the regulator in each window at least once, and 2 of them have been replaced more than once. I am about to replace my 7th regulator. 3 months ago the regulator failed on my driver¿s side - back seat door. It got itself hung in the door panel and couldn't open the door, so had to take it to the garage to get fixed. This is not the first complaint, nor the last so something should be done to resolve these issues. The regulator itself still worked, but the housing the chain stays in would break and cause the chain to come out the door panel, and knock the window off its track and damage the glass!.
We purchased our Jeep Liberty in 2005 and since then the window regulator as failed in every window at least 2 times and in a couple of them 3 times. We have spent hundreds of dollars getting them repaired and they continue to break. My wife was driving today traveling around 50 mph and the front right passenger window fell into the door. I contacted Chrysler and they won't do anything. I believe this problem to be extremely pervasive around the country and Chrysler refuses to issue a recall. Please help.
The vehicle failed to start after being driven and parked for a few minutes. The vehicle got a jump start. The panel lights started flickering. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, who indicated that the alternator failed and drained battery. This occurred without any warning. The dealership replaced the alternator with an upgraded. This indicated that there was a defect in the original alternator.
