My driver's side door to my 2012 Jeep Liberty caught fire. The door started to smoke once I started the ignition. I smelled a burning smell and then I notice smoke coming out of the driver side window seal. I pulled off to the side of the road, and turned off the ignition. I notice the smoke continued to worsen even though I turned off the ignition. The smoke became small flame quickly. I crawled to the passenger side of the car to exit. I called 911 the fire dept was dispatched to put out the fire. Once they got there they removed the battery cables from the battery under the hood sprayed the whole entire Jeep inside and out. Its was scary to know something I work so hard to have and pay for caught on fire like that. I can't believe that I was driving around in something that was a fire hazard and unsafe. Thank god I survived through something so dangerous. All of this took place on a city street. I wasn't able to recover much of my belongings because of all the water that was used by the fire department to put the fire out.

Ignition, key fell out of ignition as I was driving down the road, I put key back in ignition and had no response to shutting vehicle off, key just went back & forth sloppy couldn't shut engine of! I actually had to take battery cables off to shut off engine? Jeep ran and drove fine but had no ignition control on stopping or starting? cost me a new steering column to fix the problem! didn't even make 1 payment on truck when this happened.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted after the contact disconnected and reconnected the battery cable. On one other occasion, while driving approximately 55 mph, the front headlights independently powered off without warning. The headlights illuminated again when the vehicle was turned off and restarted. On another occasion, while the vehicle was parked, the contact depressed the unlock button on the fobik and the horn consistently sounded and the headlights flashed. The contact detached and reattached the battery cable and the lights powered off and the horn no longer sounded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

My car battery died. After replacing battery I have an error message displayed across the odometer. I have tried resetting the panel. Had it scanned and found nothing. . Disconnected the battery cable for over an hour, did not reset the message. Was told the pcn needed to be flashed. Cost $200 dollars. I have seen numerous complaints for the same thing and wondering why there isn't a recall of what ever is going on. All of the stories are the same. Loss of battery power when they turn car on after reconnecting battery. The error message occurs and does not go away. This should really be a recall it is effecting a lot of Jeep liberties.
